They did that with Ophelia for 26 counties. It resulted in an almost national shutdown.

Tricky call for them to do it again.

This one is even more obvious. The storm will be raging at rush hour across most of the country Friday morning.

Perhaps. Or it may be a thing of nothing for a large part of the country after being declared red alert.

That would be a radical change in what is now forecast. Of course if that change materialises in the models they won’t call the red alert.

Wipeout for my area, around 340m asl, Sth East Laois. Given what we got on 12 Jan 2010, when 2 and a half feet on the level.

Brendan O'Brien doesn't keep up with the Weather Forecasts like he did back in those days. ;) Was surprised when I told him it was going to be more than a few flurries of Snow like the North Western Event a few weeks ago when he was in for his Newspaper today.

It's partially true. Small system has mild sector (higher DP's and temp) Will be back to snow in the afternoon.

Snow showers relentless on the east coast from tomorrow evening.

Readily followed by snow showers before we head into the worst of it on Thursday

So basically dump the colour alert systems and leave everyone do what they want to do based on what ever weather source / media source they want to follow / believe. Every person for themselves.

That would sort all the cynicism and disbelieve. Shur who needs experts anyway

Speaking of bananas i couldn't find one in Portlaoise..

I don't doubt your story, but Portlaoise is a rather large area to have covered in a day.

Alright, I do doubt your story.

Why does everybody panic about that. The forecast then says it turns to snow showers. Also Kermit’s forecasts in the op of this thread mention the showers starting as rain, or sleet.

Again default mode hitting in.. our weather usually moves eastwards:)

A bit like the models not being able to cope with a north easterly jet.
