I’d say so. South Dublin, East Kildare and West Wicklow could be sweet spots. The N81 will be a no go Id say by the end of the week. Ofcourse most of these areas would be considered relatively higher ground. I mean if your over 200m asl you’ll be thinking that you’ve died and gone to narnia.

234m ASL in West Wicklow. Waiting, waiting, waiting......

I may have to leave this forum for a few days, all the reports of snow from the east will be sickening.
I can only tolerate other peoples joy at snow if I'm also getting snow (that's not very likely for tipp).
    So enjoy it people.

I'm in Tipp. and think from the charts quite the opposite is likely.

Won't be just the east I'd say - going from ME forecast at the moment it says

"Thursday night: A more persistent spell of heavy disruptive snow is expected to move up from the southeast during Thursday night, with significant accumulations expected, especially over the southern half of the country. Fresh to strong easterly winds will lead to blizzard conditions and some drifting in places"

Snow getting heavier now in Greystones... and when I say heavier I mean you don't have to squint and guess standing at the window with watery unblinking eyes. A few graupels even bashed on the glass and broke in two

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 213 ✭✭MetLuver

Actual flurry now, graupel rolling down roof. :-)

The big positive is the Meto seem bullish about the cold remaining!! Surely we can get more than 3/4 days out of such favourable background signals

I got my dog to stand outside earlier because I could see the snow grains easier against his black coat. He's allowed back inside now :o

The doggies love the auld snow in fairness, often they only get it once in a lifetime or otherwise they've forgotten cos they're a bit thick, but its brilliant seeing them larking about in it
