I don't know where in Dundalk people have been seeing snow - I've been watching my window all day and there hasn't been a single flake! Hopefully I'll go home from work and find that it was all over there : )

The wind direction over the Irish Sea is becoming more favorable from now into tonight so it should continue and get a little heavier in the Dublin region, theoretically at least. I wouldn't expect much accumulation tonight though, maybe a dusting in places.

The easterly cold spell being the "beast" and a frontal system from the south being "storm emma"?

The headline is ok, but I agree the first bullet point is inaccurate.

'Beast from the East' named 'Storm Emma' as weather warning elevated

As you said it's the interaction between the beast and Emma which will cause disruption.

Just got a slightly heavier burst there, very very slight accumulation on cars and roofs. Things starting to shape up nicely. Going to take a nice long break from weather watching for a few hours now

It's Dew Point, what point rain/percip turns to snow. The dew points are so low and getting lower I don't think you'll need to worry about them for a few days

The Portuguese named this one as it originated near them they got naming rights, or so they said on the bbc earlier.
Its not one of our storms so not in our alphabetical order, E was next in theirs though.

Where are you? I'm at DkIT, it's been trying to snow since about 11. Far too little to stick though.
