Joanne Lee was reported missing on February 13 and her body found wrapped in a sleeping bag inside a wardrobe in a bedsit flat in Dublin.

A suspect was found with two broken legs to the rear of the apartment on Ranelagh Road, having allegedly leapt from a third storey window as Gardai made a forced entry to the front.

Very sad news for the woman's family and friends. RIP.

She was a pretty lady. Even aside from the tragic circumstances 38 is far too young to lose someone.

Going on facebook combined with the mention in the article of the suspect being “someone well known to her” and it becomes obvious who they are talking about. If true, lock them up forever.

Seems to be a big close family. It must be very hard to get to grips with this.
They seemed to be very anxious and worried about her right from Tuesday.
    Very very sad.

Horrible news to hear. Her family were very active on social media pleading for information.

Really difficult and sad time for them. Cant imagine how difficult a time it will be.

Thoughts and prayers to the family
    RIP Joanne.

When I read the headline I thought it was about the recent Manchester murder as the guy who did that jumped out the window also.

    .

I'll be giving the other half an extra hug this evening - it could be any of our family members getting news like this.

    Rip Joanne.

Reported that the estranged husband was the guy who jumped out the window and broke both his legs.

Very very tragic. Her poor uncle was in bits talking on the news last night I really felt so very sorry for him.

Suspect who jumped out of the window reported as saying "I had to kill her" plus the fact that this person was in the room where the body was found. Now the person who jumped out of the window has been identified by the Gardaí as her husband.

My thoughts are with her family who are traumatised and devastated. Such an awful thing to have to experience, I hope they can unite together and get the justice they deserve.

So much awful news at the moment.
This story, that poor 3 year old in Shankill a week ago.
Cases like this seemed to dominate the media if they happened years ago... I just feel it's more and more common these days.

That's horrific for both sides of that family, can you imagine the devastation, there would be no getting over that. Poor girl, my heart goes out to her friends and loved ones.

I feel so sorry for the relatives of his victim. There is no possible way that justice can be served as a result.

Its what he deserved for what he done. I hope he thrashed in agony while slowly choking.

    Fncking piece of murdering sh1t.

Her family will get no closure now, he wouldn't even afford them that basic courtesy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,278 ✭✭✭TheBoyConor

I don't get that though, them not having closure.....

He's dead now so would they not be "even" if thats the right word to use?

Closure is not about revenge. It's about understanding the how, when, why and what. It's incredibly difficult to have a family member die without someone they love nearby. Even worse when you've been denied any knowledge of her state of mind when she died, and the person who killed her providing nothing in the way of an explanation.

You will naturally assume the worst; that she has died terrified and in agony. Even knowing whether that's true or not can help you move on. Not knowing makes it way harder to get past the death.

    That makes sense of course.
But surely the pathologist's investigstion could determine a lot of those things - how stressed she was at time of death, evidence of defensive wounds, whether she had been drugged etc etc.

It won't tell them why and if they don't already have a motive then that's the question which will burn away at them forever.

Can the evidence gathered not be released anyway?
I don't think I'd much like to see the guy who did it describe my daughter's last breath tbh.

Any evidence is still qualified guesswork though, right? Someone who slipped off a steep hill to their death would probably be in something of a similar state to someone who was brutally beaten; both in terms of the levels of hormones in their body and the injuries sustained. But the stories of their last minutes/hours/days of life would be completely different.

    ^^
Yeah it is but it's coming from a professional qualified and experienced in the field.

I'd take their word above the testimony of a murdering animal bastard any day of the week.

That's not really what I mean.

Where the perpetrator has died, all you've got is qualified guesswork. There are still a lot of unknowns. The experts can tell you roughly when she died and what killed her. They can't tell you what happened before then. They can't tell where she was for 3 days. These are the kind of questions that haunt you.

The murderer sure may lie, but in the case of a trial you'll at least get to piece some parts together; he'll be attempting to create a plausible narrative, so most of the story will be true to some degree. If he pleads guilty, then he'll probably tell the truth, why wouldn't he.

If he dies, you get nothing but what-ifs and probablys.
