Has anybody been able to get album art to appear when playing music from your phone (using Spotify or Google music) via either Bluetooth or USB?

Just wondering if it's possible on the discover media Pro, internet searches has given mixed opinions on it.

Works on mine using Spotify through Bluetooth.

Interesting, are you using android or iOS?

On iPhone, I don’t think album art worked over Bluetooth. But it definitely did work via usb.

Just on a follow on from Joe's experience- my neighbour called over to me. He has a BMW x5. His neighbour spotted a black golf driving up to his gate and take pictures of his car before turning around and driving off. She got the reg and gave it to him. He rang the Gardai who couldn't even be bothered checking the reg.

He went up to Halfords and bought keyring pouches which stop the keyless signal so it's more difficult for them to get the car. 12e each.

Simply not a fan of 3 cylinder engines, I believe they are too light and more stressed for the size of car. I like the 1.4 TFSI 120 BHP in my Audi A1. If it were my money I would go for the new 1.5litre Ibiza FR or Golf with said engine, stronger, faster and probably more fuel efficient.

I'm pondering changing the car ('14 Seat Leon FR, 184ps). I was thinking of the Leon Cupra or the Golf R. However, I've found myself driving slower and slower on every road except the motorways as the surface is gone so potholed and broken. But I don't know what to go for now, but I enjoy the power and torque of the diesel, once the boost is built.

Sometimes I'm thinking of still pulling the trigger on a 300ps hatchback. Two days later, I'm thinking of going after a jacked up estate (eg Octavia Scout) and suffer the loss of power. One thing I won't be getting is one of them stupid SUV things (but maybe the Ateca Cupra when it arrives).

So, does anybody have any other ideas or want to talk sense into me and get the proper hatch?

The Golf is a wonderful car and the 1 litre is pretty quick, quiet and enjoyable to drive. Some reviews say the 3 cylinder engine was a bit whiny at higher revs but I like the sound of it, I enjoy driving in Sport mode to hear the higher revs and the turbo spool up although my main driving experience was a rattly i30 diesel so it's nice just to hear a petrol turbo engine. The engine is well insulated so you don't really hear it much from the cabin. The fuel economy is rather underwhelming though.

If you're ordering the car new I'd say get the tech pack and keyless entry. Tech pack is worth it for the heated seats and Android Auto/Apple Car Play alone. Spec on the Highline is very nice with the digital dash, alcantara sport seats and the ambient LED lighting on the interior.

So far I find the 1.0l thirsty though I only drove 550km. The engine is def less balanced than 1.2 during start stop operation and on idle (900rpm vs 650). I also noticed that with DSG going to a 6th year at above 50kmh the engine sounds a bit unhappy at 1500rpm. 1.2l had max torque at 1450rpm while 1.0l has it at 2000rpm, though dsg compensates by swiftly dropping a gear to bring the revs to 2000rpm when you need to accelerate. Anyway, I won’t mind it so much if the consumption will drop to below 7l. The HL spec with tech pack is good, the digital dash looks fantastic. I personally didn’t bother buying keyless entry, but ordered a park assist. Estate is 30cm longer than hatch so when the spaces are tight it comes very handy. Btw, my car came w/o a tsi badge so people don’t know it’s a 1.0l:)

Interesting, the engine was previously said to have max torque at 1400rpm. Website says 2000rpm on configurator while brochure still says 1400rpm. Surprising because the car does pull quite well at near idle revs, although 2000rpm isn't far off I suppose.

How on earth would a car manufacturer get the torque range of their engine wrong? I also noticed after ordering my car the CO2 went up 1gm and the L/100km went up .1 too...

I notice the engine sounds unhappy when going up a steep hill at 60kph, it stays in 6th at 1500rpm and has a chugging sound while maintaining revs/speed, then finally drops. Honestly could drop much sooner. I just drop it manually or drop to 50kph as I need to slow down for turning into a junction anyway. Outside of that though it's normally quick enough to drop a gear at a less steep hill.

Moved away from diesel and bought the A1 second hand as a weekend car and no regrets. For what time is left in terms of petrol hot hatches before everything goes electric or hydrogen fuel cell get yourself that Leon Cupra /M140i /RS3 and a second hand daily driver.

I had a 170bhp Skoda and was seriously considering a Leon Cupra but I simply couldn’t justify the fuel and indeed depreciation as I’m doing 40,000km at the moment. If I was doing half that I’d go for the Seat. The Golf R doesn’t interest me in the same way as it seems a bit too perfect where as the Cupra is still compromised and all the better for it

unfortunately here the 1.5tsi is not available in the golf only in the Ibiza in FR Trim

The Golf R is one of the best sorted cars out there, great power, handling and traction. Maybe a bit too perfect

The Cupra has the power but it demands more driver involvement to drive it towards its limits as it can barely cope with the power.

Sorry lads I know it’s a bit OT. At moment I’ve a 141 VW GoLf ACT HL model. Got offered 15k cash from lad in work. Do you think it’s on the money? 40000klm. Car in great condition. Bought from new.

My front assist kicked in for the first time yesterday and planted the car to the road... driving into low sun, moving pretty slowly (30-40kph) behind a string of traffic.. I guess I didn't notice the Impreza in front slam on his brakes.

Happened to me once on the M50, all lanes came to a sudden slowdown. Also happened while reversing at a garage and got close to a plastic bollard. Car makes a very strange noise when auto braking!

Anyone been quoted a lead time for a GTI with Performance Pack lately? Skoda are pr**king around with my VRS 245 Estate order. I placed the order first week of November and they are currently saying delivery start of June!

Thinking of jumping ship to an A4 190bhp S Line. Think I need a change from the golf. Another would be my third.

10-12 weeks would be the norm. The R which I sadly didn't collect showed up about 10 weeks after I ordered it.

I could live with that! Beats waiting another 19 weeks for the plate change :pac:

My '15 R did take a fair bit longer now that I remember. Think it took nearly 20 weeks total, there was a shortage of the pretoria wheels at the time. But generally a new Golf factory order takes 10-12 weeks.

Fair few delays with Skoda it seems. Is there usually this many delays across the VAG group? The Kodiaq DSG is delayed as is the Seat Arona. Seems like there's still DSG shortages.

That's what's attracting me to the Cupra, plenty of fun trying to get the power down (if the road is not as rough as the moon)

    Petrol or diesel Audi?

Seems like a fair few performance golf drivers that post here are/haved moved on to something else myself included.
I wonder is it a reflection on the cars or the drivers?

Think I will go diesel. My journeys tend to be 100km or so a few times a week.

I think maybe just time for a change. Had a petrol GTI now the GTD. Happy with it, but like to change to something new. Would like an Audi/BMW/Merc for a change, badge snobbery and all that noted!

I'd accept 20 weeks at this stage - Unfortunately Skoda adamant it won't be built til May, no earlier. Talked to a VW dealer today and they had similar concerns about lead time on a GTI, he reckoned delivery June if I ordered now.
