Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As per pack. At induction students will be notified of district allocation at induction.. But then it asks you take make up to 4 available choices - slightly confused??

We pick up to four each carrying the same weighting so example you pick A and D they are equal and have no preference over each other but you are also not gaurenteed each of them.

Hopefully this makes it abit easier

  • Registered Users Posts: 214 ✭✭Trainee bob

saying there all equal would it make sense to make just one preference? would say the choice is already made anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 149 ✭✭recruit099

More or less if you like the look of 3 there’s more of a chance you will get one of them 3 if available still no guarantee though

If you make once choice, get but as the course goes on you change your mind you dont really have grounds for an appeal.

but if there is only one good choice is what I mean and the rest aren't good for you anyway ,would it matter?

Do you really want to kill options?

  • Registered Users Posts: 25 PumpinRon

It's a difficult one. There's only 1 district that I'd really like and another one that would be just ok. I'm thinking if I select both, I dilute my chances of getting the one I really want and if I only select one, there's a greater chance of being placed very far away.
Regardless - this is a problem I want to have. I'd go to Rathlin Island without grumbling if that's where they wanted to place me :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Bearing in mind if you have no kids and no mortgage you can just be voluntold were you going and it may not be any of your district choices

Is all the districts not an option anymore?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

No. A Friend's was very limited. Plus like I have said and what people whobare in GV/passes have told you, if your personal circumstances are "flexible" yiu can be sent anywhere in NI.

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭KnightRider21

Our squad was allowed to pick any district, squad before was a bit more limited. If you pick just one district you run the chance of not being placed there and sent anywhere else. You can pick 4 or 1 its up to you, operational needs and home locations are factors in it all. You can start appeal process at induction if you aren't happy

  • Registered Users Posts: 25 PumpinRon

I eventually settled on choosing only 1 district (the only available one that I thought was suitable). There was one other that would have been just ok but I decided not to select it because it would halve my chance of getting my preference. Getting sent to the furthest district from me will only be slightly less preferable to the second choice I mentioned.

It's a gamble but we should be sending these forms in on the assumption that we have NO control over where we're stationed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Or like knight said you can be sent anywhere so even if you have made 4 choices don't expect to get them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 972 ✭✭✭Goonerdee

Well if I get that far, I’ll see what happens. Though if I was lucky and given all districts as an option I’m led to believe that my second choice is one everyone wants out of :-O

Confirmation letter and 2 district choices now in the post. No turning back now lol I'm hoping the induction is going to put this overthinking the last 7 days at ease.

What do we send back to recruitment? Is it the district choice and the confirmation letter only?

  • Registered Users Posts: 25 pandabear97
