Still blaming the refs for the losses. Some Kerry people are becoming the poster children for sore losers. Long may it continue !

To be fair, he is in the minority

Wouldn’t be getting too excited. We conceded 3-14 to fourteen men and have a major issue to sort at the back. Donegal also wiped us out around the middle from their own kickouts.

Definitely some positives too, Sean O’Shea was great, Burns, Crowley and Murphy did well and we battled back well when it looked like we were beaten. O’Brien was good as well, albeit as the spare man after the sending off.

Lots to work out but some very encouraging signs from some of the youngsters. It’s a good time to play Mayo next wknd as they are slow starters usually. A win up there would be a massive boost to the young panel but it’ll be a big ask.

Yeah the defence was seriously ropey - I thought it very much looked like a bunch of lads thrown together as opposed to anything resembling a proper settled defence. Some positives, some negatives from today and overall plenty to be getting on with, but 2 points in the bag early on is always good.

Worth remembering the list of lads missing today

    Short term (2-3 weeks)
Tadhg Morley, Fionn, Tom O'Sullivan, Mark Griffin, Adrian Spillane, Kevin McCarthy, Darran, Mikey Geaney, Eanna O'Conchuir & Brian O'Beaglaoich

    Medium Term (4-6 weeks)
Killian, Crowley, Gavin White, Maher, David Moran, Buckley, Donnchadh Walsh, Conor Geaney & Donaghy.

Fair chunk of defenders and midfielders in there. I doubt any will be back for the Mayo game given it's only in 6 days time. Be interesting to see what changes are made for the Mayo match.

Coming from a man who's counties ''fans'' discredit anything they don't win is a bit much

Going by todays performance there is serious depth of talent there and they showed huge determination to come from four points down to battle over the line. Mayo are there for the taking next Saturday going on todays performance. Kerry will grow into a serious squad and will have the beating of Dublin come the summer if we play with a neutral referee who is not paid off in Dublin's favour.

Lot of football to be played before then.

Sure after the league last year we were all told that Kerry were not longer "in transition" and that they had finally arrived.

Jesus christ there's so much hyperbole and sh!te in one post it's hard to know where to start.

No wonder the Dublin fans make Kerry man jokes with stupid posts like this.

Just make sure you reciprocate the arrangement the next time you drop into the Dublin thread ...

Wonder why Fitzmaurice left Shanahan wing back all day when he played corner back all through the 2017 league. Especially when we were so light in full back line options and Coffee is more used to playing in the half back line.

No lessons learned from last years semi finals on how not to leave your full back line totally vulnerable either.

Management needs to seriously up their game.

This is a thread to discuss Kerry. It is not the property of posters from Kerry, any more than the Dublin thread is owed by Dubliners. If you put up a sour grapes post about another county, expect to get called out on it, regardless of the thread. Doing it here, doesn't give you any special privileges.

Not a bad effort. Won't be winning the troll award just yet though.

Solid 6/10 effort all the same. Would read again.

David Clifford scored 1-4 in IT Tralee's shock victory over Queen's University Belfast in the Sigerson Cup on a score of 2-8 to 0-11.

In the other Sigerson Cup results, UCC defeated Garda College 1-12 to 2-7. Sean O'Shea scoring 0-5 and Killian Spillane scoring 1-3 including a late penalty for the Cork college. While UL defeated CIT 2-13 to 1-11

That's a great win for IT Tralee

2 changes to last weeks team.

Brian O'Beaglaoich comes in for Coffey and Jack Barry is in for Brendan O'Sullivan.

Heavy rain yesterday so tipped up to McHale Park for a look this morning and the pitch looks pretty heavy. Not FBD league heavy, but slow going.

Will suit Mayo's more physical backs. Will slow some our our younger lads down.

Watched the IT Tralee v Queens game on youtube yesterday to look at Clifford and Gavin Crowley. Clifford kept them in the game winning ball, getting frees, punching a goal and setting up the winning goal with a run from deep.

Crowley played a defensive midfield role. Kick passing was poor (heavy legs after Sunday) but some amount of tracking. Looks very fit.

I'd like to see Shanahan drop back and do a man marking job on Moran. Enright is too vulnerable in the air.

Its great to see Barry O'Sullivan has found his form back and keeps his place. Himself and Jack Barry play together for UCD as well so I'm looking forward to that partnership.

Interesting to see Eanna O'Connor slide into the number 26 jersey. Very impressed with him last year with the Juniors. A game like tonight's would suit him down to the ground.

Some very good performances so far. Will possibly still fade in the latter stages but they doing well enuf.

Shane Enright not doing his chances any good tonight. Shane Murphy will get another couple of chances but the jury is out so far.

Sean O'Shea looks impressive for a 19 year old

Class points by Murphy and O Sullivan

Must be some size of a gate in Castlebar with the size of the crowd leaving early

Big win. Young fellas stood up, especially when down to 13.

Our support on the run a big improvement on last year so basketball coaching is working.

Held Mayo scoreless for over 40 mins of that match which is good going.

    Mighty win in fairness.

Great performance, especially when down to 13 in such testing conditions.

Should have won by more, played the better football when it was 15 v 15

    But a mighty win

Christ. Don't know what to think of that. Unreal heart and spirit. Some woeful, cynical challenges.

Looked by far the better team with 15 v 15. Geaney should be knighted. Sheer heart from him and the whole team.

Agreed, at half-time I had a sinking feeling of deja-vu but to be fair, the lads clung on and their resilience shone out, albeit that Mayo were shockingly woeful at times.

As opposed to actual doping? :D

How's young O'Sullivan going this year? Hopefully a bit more careful about the vitamins and minerals now

Great win. Will be the makings of alot of those young lads.

Thought Geaney & Paul Murphy were your stand out players. Yeah, Kerry were cynical but come on, who wouldn't be in that situation? I thought they showed real heart to grind out that win after the 2 sending offs.

Kerry most definitely need to go with youth in 2018. Obviously need a few wise old heads in the team aswel. Pace was very evident in that team tonight. Moving the ball at pace out from the back I noticed how comfortable they all are a handling the ball at lightning speed.
Plenty of them not afraid to mix it aswel. No soft team will ever win the All Ireland.
The only thing is the tackling and concession of goals down through the middle. If we can sort that out by summer we can beat anyone.
Paul Murphy and Paul Geaney are on another level.

    Thought Crowley was impressive tonight.

Ó Beaglaoich's black card was a bad call. He was flattened and clearly fouled first then the ref called him on a trip.

His free turning to black card and free conceded. Good job Mr. Ref
