Anything that highlights mental health is a good thing.

Even if it does so in a way that provides incorrect information? Or no real solutions?

It gets people talking about it. Surely that's not a bad thing.

Solutions are for our elected reps to sort out I'd imagine.

Not the first clue who ya'll talking about. Judging by the comments on the first page this tells me I'm watching the right television channels.

Sometimes there are no clear solutions, in fact I'd say many who have mental health issues, will remain so for life, containment, management and control is the best that can be done.

The pair of them come from the very affluent Ennis Road area of Limerick and attended Are Scoil Ris - which, accurate or not, is known as a "posh" school in Limerick.

Neither of them speak with their real accent.

And this SJW & mental health direction they have taken all conveniently came about when they started knob polishing that gimp Russel Brand.

It's a business move and totally insincere.

Brand is actually very well informed about complex social issues such as mental health issues.
It's a business move and totally insincere.

    Possible but probably not

I didn't really understand his comments about feminism either but shur whatever, we were talking about mental health but not really talking about it, some regular comments would have been, 'they suffer with their nerves', that's not talking about mental health! That's a kinna, well they ain't well, so let's kinna exclude them from society and kinna ignore them.

If ever you're listening back to the Joe Duffy interview of years ago listen out for "Comedian" Dermot from today fm... He enters the fray sticking up for blindboy as if he's speaking for the voice of youth and falls flat on his face... Even Joe was like "what?"

It seems like a savvy career move on his behalf as RTÉ in particular seem to love giving “personalities” air time to talk sh1te about topics they know f all about except that it’s “on trend”.

I'm nit derailing or changing topics.he said men need feminism for thier mental health.if you're confused by that then i'm glad i'm not alone.i also don't get this ah sure we're talking about it malarky.it's assumed they helping mental health because they're talking about it.i've had friends disclose their issues to me long before the rubberbandtis.they don't think very much of men in my eyes.

I've suffered with mental health issues for most of my life, I think he's doing a great job, we require multiple angels to tackle this problem, blindboys is just one, he might just be an answer to this problem for many people, possibly younger people. He explains very well how mental health issues have effected him, there's no better person to explain this than the person themselves.

Maybe I picked it up wrong but what I took from what he was saying is that the stereotypical lessons of "boys don't cry" is a poor lesson to teach a child, things like crying or expressing emotion are viewed as "girly" or feminine traits so boys are taught not to show those feelings. And that's what I thought he was saying about it's impact on mental health, a lot of men don't know how to express their feelings because they were taught as children not to which leads to some level of inner turmoil.

Yeah but he agrees with that, that's part of what he's saying. He wants the experts & authorities to put more in to it, he's not trying to be the solution to everyone's problems, he's just trying to raise awareness.

He’s only in it for the publicity and to keep himself in the limelight.show me one person in the country that hasn’t a small issue with mental health throughout their lives,be it depression, anxiety, stress, addiction etc.and then you have this clown with a fukn plastic bag over his head in 2018 cashing in on it because discussing how you feel is now flavor of the month and what’s worse the idiots that give him air time.at least lose the plastic bag you complete fukn tool and tone down the forced ghetto accent

He's trying to keep his career going. He's Bressy - except he's doing it better than that tool did...

What exactly is your issue with an entertainer using their recognised character to talk about something they find relevant? What impact would it have if he did lose the bag & the accent, would people listen to him then? Maybe not. But if he does it in character people can recognize who he is and might leave him on long enough to hear what he’s saying.

It’s not all he talks about in the podcast either you know, he’s mentioned it a few times but he talks about other things he finds interesting & entertaining as well. He’s not forcing anyone to listen to him.

He literally says the same thing himself, he says he's a "clown" and because he looks different he gets more attention than if he was in a suit. He's campaigning for mental health awareness in schools from a young age, he's not saying he should go from school to school doing it.

Firstly, the thing that needs to be toned down is your call for someone to smother and for the death of others that support him.

    Civil discussion please.

Why throw in the word feminism? It's the wrong word and he's not a stupid fellow so i'm thinking he put in a current buzzword to get his soundbite.my issue is they're actually bandwagon jumpers and populist even though they try to portray themselves as part of the subculture.
As for men not crying or being told not to i dunno have i ever seen this in real life.when people like the rubberbandits talk about stuff of how things are in irish society i wonder am i living in a different place to you all? Men cry, i have seen it plenty of times.i have never seen someone telling a young boy to bottle up their emotions any differently to a young girl.rubber bandits tell us how society is but i cannot say it's what i've seen.they're not as in touch with common men as what they think.
