Are the cards that are being issued now Visa or are they still Mastercards?

MasterCard, unless they've changed in the last month.

Thanks, I'm mulling over ordering another one for the partner to use from same account. Just making sure they aren't going to change it anytime soon. Suppose it doesn't really matter.

Regardless of whether you order a second card for your account, I'd recommend getting your partner to set up their own account to have the benefit of two sets of limits.

Bought a car from the UK for €10k recently. With the use of two Revolut accounts, I could convert the full amount to sterling for free, rather than having to pay 0.5% on the balance over €6k.

I got mine (UK one) just before Xmas and Visa. GF got hers (Irish one) and VISA. Both contactless and free, though both were new issues not new accounts.

The card given when opening a new account is still MasterCard, or at least that was the case when a friend of mine signed up earlier in the week. Physical card hasn't arrived yet but the virtual card in the app is a MasterCard.

Is it for your first card or for an additional card?

If you already have a MasterCard, you can try the link in the below post to order an additional Visa card, but it's not guaranteed to work.
If you have signed up you can get a free card (the new Visa card they issue themselves) via this link:

If you've already a card on the app, a virtual card, you need to delete this first and then generate a physical card.

This card will then be sent to you free and you'll have a copy of it as a virtual card in the app.

Are there any rumours on Revoult getting Apple Pay? I've read on the Revolut forums that this could happen early this year. Can't see it myself.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen or heard anything else?

An additional, the one they offered me for free for "being one of the first customers".

Yeah, I got one of those Visa cards too. But they're still giving out MasterCards to new signups.

I joined in Sept/Oct 16 and also got the Visa card, I think I got a link offering it but not too sure about that.

Joined in Sept 2015, never got an invite and just got this answer from support
"I just need to explain that the card was sent only to some users, and the date was not the only criteria" they suggested I order and pay for a new card!

Got this notification from Revolut, I will be away on 20 March, anyone know how this will effect us?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,607 ✭✭✭makeorbrake

I'm away from home but apparently the card has arrived (a couple of weeks later than they suggested it would).

What's the story with this card then (aside from it being contactless)? Is it likely to work in situations whereby the mastercard won't? Do we have to load that card separately or it feeds off the same balance? Will the mastercard expire in time to come or will it be renewed?

The card is linked to the same wallet, no separate loading required.

It does all the same Revolut things the Mastercard does, it's just branded as Visa because Revolut is now issuing the cards directly (instead of paysafe/Wirecard) and they have decided that they want to work with Visa rather than Mastercard.

They have not announced what they are going to do with the existing Mastercard base, most likely they will replace them with Visa once the cards expire or they might just send everybody a Visa and tell them your Mastercard expires on xx.xx (Avant is doing the reverse right now).

It won't effect your service while you're away. Existing cards will continue to work as they are. I imagine it means all new cards issued from 20th March will be Visa.

Made a bank transfer of 60euro from my Revolut to my KBC current account last night (Sunday) at 10pm.

Landed in my KBC this morning (monday) at 10am. That is frighteningly fast especially for a weekend transfer.

My partner uses AIB and I wouldn't have got the money until Tuesday morning at the earliest if she had done bank > bank.

On another note, with Revolut now becoming the card issuer instead of WireCard, this opens the door massively for Apple Pay?
