I'll have to stop reading boards. It's depresssing to see so many pious superior cnuts wielding their virtual pitchforks in these type of threads. Makes me sick to the stomach.

Its a cesspit but thankfully its not an accurate representation of our society. The same ghouls each time also :pac:

Steal money from the social, fiddle the taxes for garlic, etc = jail

Hit & kill elderly person with car, cause injury to Garda; couple of community hours

Exactly, clue is in the OP 'she stole it from US', money WE gave her'.

The government takes the money, it ceases to be yours at that point. They'll piss it away regardless, no point moaning about where it goes. Welfare cheats cheat us all was such an own goal they have to make sure stories like this get attention to try and justify it.

Community hours for this lady seems like a better plan than debtors prisons

I agree, however I don't think that means we should ignore welfare cheats. Seeing the outcome of this case will probably only embolden people who decide welfare fraud is worth the risk. Defraud the state of thousands of euro and IF you get caught, pay it back at the princely rate of 15% of your weekly rate. At worst, it essentially amounts to an interest free loan.

Theres loads of examples of people not getting jail for stealing from the social.

A very recent one was the tallaght woman who worked in the social welfare office and stole money by setting up a claim using her brothers pps.

The stories in the papers were full of "work is me" and how the family were struggling to pay a mortgage etc. Yet anyone who has he on their Facebook could tell you there was plenty of laughing and joking in the days surrounding the court dates, so she obviously wasn't that bothered. She also has a very healthy social life, including being away the last 3 weekends I believe . She's doing alright for someone struggling to make ends meet.....

And really, the garlic thing again?

No, that doesn't really make any sense.

Most people who pull of SW fraud aren't multi millionaires storing up their ill-gotten gains in an offshore bank account.

Practically all of them won't have a bean to their name, and won't have a job or will have a very low-paying job.

So cutting off their social welfare payments until they pay back what they stole is like standing on someone's head while they're drowning.

I only ever knew one man who I suspected might be doing a SW fraud. He has since emigrated to Spain. You must know loads of them.

Every time I see Garlic Man mentioned I am reminded of the SW fraudster from around the same time who got sent down for 12 years. They both set out with a deliberate plan over a very long time to rob the State's coffers, and both got away with around the same amount before they were caught. But Garlic Man got a lighter sentence, probably because of his standing in society.

Glad to see the judge ignoring her sob story.
Wait now for the lefties to come along with the “what about the bankers” nonsense.
€20 billion+ a year on SW. If cretins like this didn’t steal double what their entitled too maybe there’d be more for carers and disabled people.
    Nothing to do with bankers.

Yes, i absolutely agree she should get her punishment but so should the likes of that pr1ck Drumm who committed fraud on a much higher scale. Its the one rule for one and other rule for their friends i hate

Drum is on trial at the moment , so he’s getting his chance in court the same way this woman did.

Fair point but im skeptical as to whether it will be anything the same outcome for him to be honest. We live in hope. The closer you are to the government, the more favourable outcome. Takes a long time to bring a crooked banker to trial i noticed. He done a runner in 09 or 10 sure.

It took 13 years for the fraud in this Social Welfare case to be discovered.

No fear of this thieving animal starving.she should have joined a gym with some of the money she stole.as for coeliac condition you would think that would keep her from shoveling pies down her big gullet.once a thief always a thief.she was years at the fraud and when she was caught it’s a huge surprise to her.if justice was served the hag would never be allowed a welfare claim again in her miserable life.judge should have said hope you saved some of your stash thief cos we are cutting you off.
Just hope they check out her spawn kids finances now to make sure they didn’t get business lessons from mama

She gave up the job now and is paying back €25 a week. It'll take her 4000 weeks to pay us back out of the money we give her for free

She can sit at home now for good and watch her fat arse getting bigger.she should be out bagging rubbish out of the ditches in a chain gang and the ones working in the welfare department should be with her.she was years at the fraud and not one of the idiots in welfare department spotted it.finger on the pulse as always paddy Irish man

Her sister facilitated the crime by allowing her to use her address. I would have thought she would be done for conspiracy to defraud. Needless to say she won’t even have got as much as a caution.

There is also the matter of how someone who is deemed incapable of work (in her maiden name) can be capable of work (in her married name) for such a long time without being reviewed & verified for ongoing entitlement.

House should be seized & into a dreary b&b with her until she draws her last breath, or moves far enough up the housing list for her to be housed in social housing. I know the state would still be paying for this but at least she wouldn’t be enjoying the fruits of her ill gotten gain. Alternatively the sister should be made to House her - she used her address for long enough.

Surely thieves such as her need to be punished in some way, shape or form, & even someone as long in the tooth as she is needs to finally learn that crime doesn’t ultimately pay & that there are consequences to her actions.

Thankfully the new public services card has helped to expose her crimes - that’s a good start, but what’s the use in exposing the crime if sweet f all is done when these vermin suffer little or no consequence?

Yeah the same as fitzgerald, sweet fa will happen! Golden Circle.. The case takes ages to appear in court (to let the dusk settle) when it does another "scandal" will so timelessly hit the head lines to deter attention away from the case as he walks away with a slap on the wrist to still enjoy his millions.

If you ever watched the Wire in one season its all on politics I think its season 5/6 and how it works. Aiden Gillen (Irish Actor) is running for mayor and then becomes mayor. Its very interesting and opened my eyes! as its exactly what happens. As there was hardly a whisper when Fitzgerald or fitzpatrick the main man walked free! Sorry cant think of his name off hand think its Fitzgerald. The main man response for putting are Country in recession!!

Jaysus Christ - she fiddled the scratcher to get by, while working part time as a cleaner in a hospital.
They way some of you are going on you'd swear she was Christy Kinahan!

She’s a dirty thief,a fraud and a liar who sits around on her fat arse while the rest of us turn up to work to pay taxes and barely survive while the frauds and thieves thrive. If we all had her attitude society as we know it would cease to function.
I hope she gets a bout of scour that would knock a horse and I hope it lasts years

To get by you say.manys the honest hardworking man or woman who struggles to get by but doesn’t resort to theft and fraud.she should be in a chain gang and knock some good out of her in community service instead of housing her fat arse in a warm prison.shes too fat and useless looking to do any good though I’d say even if you did put her working
