Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not sure if a thread already exists for this if so please delete. I did have a look but didn't see a thread solely for ICO's and peoples reviews

I feel this could be a good space to list an ICO or two you strongly believe in and the reasons why you believe they will be a good long/short term investment.

I'm cautiously excited about cryptohunt, ( https://www.cryptohuntgame.com ). Basically a comparable game model to Pokemon go, but by going out with your app on your ph and finding stuff, you're mining. Aiming to help take crypto to the mass market. I'm signed up for the demo, I'll decide from there whether to go further, but I loved the concept, whitepaper appealed to me, interested to see what people think.

That's what I thought. As someone at the bottom of the economic foodchain, I've been researching how best to mine with a lowgrade laptop/the minimal resources I have, and I'm not the only one, definitely a niche area. Another ico I'm excited about is Zipper (Can find on tokenmarket.net), which will offer mining on a mobile app. I reckon there's a big market for this,I certainly intend getting involved with that project, curious if anyone knows of a similar project/competitor. Anticipating an initial drop after the ICO release, as has been the general pattern I've observed, I'll be doing more intense research closer to time, but always keen to broader my horizons via discussion meanwhile :)

I'm sorry but as soon as I read this, the pessimist in me thought how can someone exploit this and a picture of people hooking up a mining rig to their phone and attaching them to one of them mobility scooters, zipping around the place came to "mined" haha

Amazing concept though I will eagerly await it's launch. People will quit their job to become a mining master

fancy disrupting a disruptor? Winding Tree is taking aim at airbnb ... along with expedia, google, hotel chains, etc. Token sale starts 1st Feb.

    https://windingtree.com/

I haven't researched too deeply yet, but what I have seen so far has piqued my interest (hence sharing it here).

Looks like current pre-sale has sold out. Not that I had 50ETH to invest! Public sale starts 31st Jan with a much more reasonable min. contribution of 0.1ETH. Will get through their whitepaper before then and compare with Winding Tree. Interesting times!

Tried to registered for experty.io but bitcoinsuisse.ch account is required but it only supported countries: Switzerland, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Liechtenstein
Anyone have any luck registering for experty

I registered for bitcoine suisse with no problems. I also done the POC and got Tier 2
Not sure where your seeing the above about the countries.

You have to go through the KYC Process through ico.bitcoinsuisse.ch

I'm now just waiting for Experty to appear on their ICO portal which will be in the coming days.
I have a feeling this one will be sold out in minutes.

Isn't the token's value effectively limited/capped by the costs of alternative marketing methods? How much are the tokens being sold for initially?

    It's 1Eth = 42000 tokens, or part thereof.
They seem to be giving bonus amounts on top during the ICO phase, different bonus amounts depending on how early/late you buy.

580million tokens, with a portion of them assigned to the team and locked for a year.
Any unsold tokens are being burned.

It sounds good to me so far from what I have read.

Also the biggy is they are planning on going on Binance within 6 weeks of the ICO closing.

It seems like a clever was of taking advantage of the mobile networks.
    The problems:

    People have unlimited SMS plans which they do not use;
    Companies overpay for the A2P SMS service and are constantly looking for opportunities todecrease the price;

    The solution:

People can automatically sell their unused SMS to businesses via Birdchain instant messaging app. Companies get an up to 6 times cheaper service. People get paid for every single SMS which is sold.

But here's where I struggle to understand it.

Say I'm looking to run an SMS marketing campaign and I can go to ABC company and pay €50 for 2,500 texts. For Birdchain to be an attractive alternative that hard currency cost needs to be lower. So for the sake of argument let's say the cost of 1 sms was fixed at 1 token. Then it follows that the value of 1 token would be sort of capped at EUR 0.02.

Fyi - I could write on the palm of my hand what I know about cryptocurrencies but I'd like to learn more and I'm trying to keep an open mind.

Yeah basically the Secretary of state in that us state signed up to caviar using a fake passport and caviar didn't catch him....

So they're saying that any American with a fake passport can sign up . And Americans aren't allowed sign up to ICOs.

Sounds ridiculous really. Most people don't have access to proper fake passports

This thread is already becoming very very useful.
I was looking at caviar, I didn’t dig too deep. Keep this kind of information flowing people.

On the other hand. It’s a bit ridiculous seen as how US can’t sign up but that’s not the point here I suppose :)

The Bad Crypto Podcast had an ICO spotlight on Caviar just a few days ago if anyone wants to listen.

The speaker on Caviar's behalf wouldn't inspire confidence in the project. Just my opinion though.

DasCoin (DSC) is the ICO I've invested in. Not open trading until end of April, but have been raising funds since early 2017. Great team behind them, big names in corporate industry, have physical offices in London, Las Vegas and Asia. The system itself offers KYC authentication, super fast transactions times of 6 seconds, capability of being accepted in 60 million merchants globally, fully secure and compliant. See https://dascoin.com/en for some information. Note, this is NOT DAS thats in Coinmarket.

That's not an ico, it's a ponzi, the money they are raising is paying the people who bought licenses.

An ico will give you crypto, not promises.

There is a thread in the investments and markets forum on it, page 2 I think.

I cant see how these guys are going to compete with the likes of Amazon, Ebay etc

Although not the worst ico and seems to be a good team behind it. Some serious scams going on out there.

Seems like the only chance you have of making a lot from an ico is if they get listed on an exchange. How do you determine the likelihood of this happening on an ico?

  • Registered Users Posts: 234 ✭✭Yelnahs

    I actually didn't bother in the end... I'm sure I had a reason :|

Bit of chatter about Medicalchain, might be worth looking at. It's exactly what Hospitals need (Also UK based)

    https://icobench.com/ico/medicalchain

Edit after registering for more information: ICO registration closes on Jan the 30th and ICO token sales starts 1st of Feb.
Edit again: $0.25 a token is a bit rich, this is probably a non-runner

    Simple- DYOR

You can't really research in advance which exchanges the tokens will be listed on, as they usually keep that secret until after the tokens are distributed and unlocked.

For example Indahash were constantly promising they'd be listed on the 'major exchanges', then just before tokens became unlocked, they announced their listing on (s)hitBtc, even this seems to have fallen through and the tokens are only available on some new obscure exchange called Tidex.

Radsky asked the likelihood of it. No one can guarantee a coin or token being listed on an exchange but thorough research about who is involved in the project, their past projects etc can give a decent "likelihood" of it being listed on an exchange. I do agree with you as it is all a guessing game but some are more likely than other

Do all ICOs have to take your identity details?

I'm interested in a few but don't feel good at all about giving scans of my personal documents to verify who I am. Often there is no privacy policy and neither do they give any indication of where the documents are stored or who has access to them. You're basically just giving all your details to randomers on the internet. A simple hack of their sites could lead to details of thousands of people being leaked or sold to the highest bidder.

Has anyone here had to do it?

Yep, this is a bit of a new thing with ICOs but this is what government regulation or preemptive measures towards it brings.
Governments want KYC in place and are putting us in the firing line for hacks.
Governments obviously want us all to be safe though, definitely not just about tracking taxes.

That was some shítshow right there!
In a world where XRB copied sections of the BTC whitepaper and you have thoughtless mongoloids constantly screaming about BTC "brand heists" I wouldn't care about a 300 word paragraph being left in by accident. They have huge clients, good working history and a project with a wider scope than Sia.
Sia is of course massively overvalued but it gives a good idea of what may happen
