Meagher defensively struggles so really don't reckon he'll be the starting 10. Is Byron fit? Wasn't he on crutches during the sleepout?

Don't think it's a sure thing that Paddy Patterson makes the academy, maybe they will wait.. for Cormac Foley

Kenny hasn't played this season so looks very unlikely he will.

Kieran Dunne! Yeah it’s hard to call it’ll depend on how they want to play I guess but it will be interesting to see how hawkshaw adapts to being in the centre

French will be in the reckoning too?

    french will start at 13.

munsters signing of a sa centre is bizarre given centre talent in province..

mccarthy, french, dunne, o'gorman and hurley.

Thoughts on Roman Salanoa the American in the Leinster sub academy?
Munster were vilified for signing the 2 South Africans but this has slipped under radar strangely.

Seen him play at u20 very good player very explosive and has international rugby experience but having said that with the amount of tight heads coming through at leinster it’s a strange one alright and considering he’s been in the sub academy for a year now

Question for someone with better knowledge of the Leinster academy was Charlie Connolly in the Leinster sub academy last year? Have seen he’s gone off to Italy to their lower leagues and was wondering if salonoa getting sub academy and him potentially not (I’m not sure) a contributing factor ??

I’m pretty sure he wasnt in the sub academy at the start of the season last year. Considering he went from not starting for blackrock in 6th yr to starting for Ireland u20s the next year he’s a difficult one to figure out what was going on

Hasn't he only been with Leinster since September?

James newey Bristol could be on his way back to one of the provinces having not been named in Bristol 2018/19 squad https://www.bristolrugby.co.uk/news/signedupsaturday-the-wrap-up/ .. would be a cracking academy/dev deal for any of the provinces has premiership experience as 18yo and played a good few minutes for Bristol this year .. which province would he be suited best to? Connacht surely with Dave mc at Munster tob at leinster and Hume in ulster? Although I’d say any would take him if he is made available

Good chance he'll be looking for a senior contract in the UK before contemplating an academy deal over here. If they could get him at that rate I'm sure none of the academies would bat an eyelid at taking him though.

Way back? Hasnt ever played here as part of provinces.
Id be surprised if he does come back. Its a long way to go to say he hasnt been named in their squad for next season yet considering its only 3 weeks into January,

Well you know what I meant , they’ve already announced 6 centres with 2 from their academy so It looks likely he could be on his way to Ireland unless you’d want 7 out and out centres in your squad ?

How is it likely he will end up in Ireland. He's irish qualified but doesnt mean he'll likely end up in Ireland for next season. Is much more likely if he even leaves Bristol to be playing rugby with another championship side or a national one side.

It’s likely because he’s came through the exiles system and made it clear he wants to represent Ireland and most lads that have come through the exiles system that are deemed good enough spend time with provinces in Ireland .. I.e Kieran Dunne , James McCarthy , Callum torpey, lewis sampson etc

Im way too pissed and tired/lazy to do it but there is a lot more exiles who've played irish age grade and represented ireland at age grade and then just preferred staying in UK especially if able to play pro rugby(or semi pro) even at national one level

Not many have played Irish 20s and not come over bar Niall Saunders , if he has ambitions to push on and play international rugby he will look into it as a possibility like treadwell and wooten did , I’m not saying it’s happening but I’m saying it’s a possibility considering playing Irish 20s

Peter Malone on Keynan Knox and Matt More

“They are two players that were identified and recruited in line with our succession plan and they have come with references from rugby credible contacts in South Africa who we have good relationships with.

“Keynan and Matt will train with the Academy within a structured programme that takes into account their age, relocating to a new country, and their personal development. Both players have adapted well in a short period of time and are looking forward to playing rugby.

“They only finished school in South Africa in November and since joining us, are following our Academy personal development programme. In the last few weeks they have already completed modules on financial planning, nutrition, and rest and recovery. They then will have the opportunity to continue with third level studies or vocational opportunities in line with the academic year next September.”

I know it's not an ideal proxy - but I always try and count the number of players per province in these types of squads to get a rough feel for the relative quality through the various provincial systems.

Seems like the Leinster conveyer belt is still churning away, 15/32 in that sqaud

16 players from Leinster underage system. 1 currently in Connacht Academy, sure to be joined by others next season.
