Would think it's safe to say that's rubbish about Duggan. He is a physical specimen plus he featured heavily in the JWC last year. He'll surely be in pole position to start at loosehead this year too with a good shot at academy. No way would he be released from sub academy

dunno if he featured heavily but he featured.. would be a surprise if he did get released.. but not very surprising if its true

Would expect to see Niall Murray , Cian huxford and Callum torpey in connachts academy this year along with a few rejects from Leinster/Munster

Am told Sean Hudson (Bandon grammar) is also in connacht sub academy , can anyone confirm?

    care to expand?
Just think he offers that traditional 7 role which I don't think is there. One of the smartest players you'll find as well

Yeah i'd offer him an academy deal, if it were upto me.. he seems to have beaten out Dunne anyway.. interested to see how he does at irish u20 level..

Scott Penny would appear to be his biggest competition.

Ye, I think he's worth the contract. Do you think Penny will get one straight out of  school or do a  year in Sub Academy? They've never seemed to be afraid to take on extra backrows.

I’d be surprised if they took Penny straight from school considering the likes of Ryan and Doris had to do one year in the sub academy

No the last backrow to get one straight out of school was leavy, so can't see that happening.

There will only be 1 backrow(Connors) in the academy next season at the moment, with Murphy & Doris expected to join the senior squad.

Pretty hard to predict what they will do, if Kearney stands out for the 20's I think they'll offer him a spot, if he doesn't he won't would be how I see it going.

Ronan Foley appears to be the other backrow in with a chance of an academy place as a 6/8.

Yeah, unless there is a 3rd party trying to poach him.. they added Larmour/Kelly straight from school last season and O'Sullivan/Aungier this season.

Maybe next season they'll add two more.. would be surprised if either was a backrow...

suppose it will come down to performances over the next two months..

Yes and jack cooke ( ternure)

    Max Mellet(Castleknock) there too.

I'd say that's all the leinster lads covered so.

not sure if there are any notable absentee's.

    Michael Milne(Under-19)
    Niall McEniff(Under-19)

When you look at the original club/school there it is great to see such a good spread. Particularly when one or 2 of the schools guys could be claimed to a certain extent by clubs not already on the list e.g. Max and Tarf/Jordan Duggan and Naas.

Very competitive group going for what 5 places in leinster? Centre probably the weakest position there which says a lot considering they're 3 good players. Probably see a good few players there end up in the other provinces next year.

If it is limited to 5 more my best guess at who will get in would be Silvester, SOB/Dean, Paddy Paterson and 2 of Cormac/Jack Dunne/Max/Clarke.

    its not limited to 5.

at least 7 places by my count.

I was saying 5 from them based off 7-an u19 already out of school and - 1 straight from school, but the number is never set in stone so could be 4 could be 10, down to the academy. The numbers were an obvious exaggeration by the way

interested to see if they take both Dunne and Daly or just 1 second row..

Yeah, especially with baird coming out of school next year. JJ is an interesting option too, doing very well in 1B and can cover backrow too

Jack Dunne, Cormac Daly, Charlie Ryan and Ryan Baird all look like potential academy 2nd rows..

can't see JJ O'Dea pushing for a place this year ahead of Dunne or Daly.

Aaron Browne a high profile u20 second row who seems to have given up the game after injuries.

Would rate Baird ahead of Dunne based on sct but haven’t seen Dunne play ail or for ireland
