Jesus, my confidence levels have plummeted.

No Sexton, no Fardy - a losing BP will be a great outcome here.

Tomane is probably on an Island passport

huh, that's quite the world tour he's on considering he was born in NZ but played for Australia.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,601 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

He's not really a loss, it was a choice by the coaches, and I think McGrath is just rotated. He's clearly first choice SH.

They're the halfbacks that started in Thomond so good enough for me.

if it was a game we had to win - Johnny is a msssive loss - Byrne has had a great season, but Johnny is world class, Byrne certainly is not, yet anyway

Is Sexton injured? Fardy? Jesus if we ruin our seeding because of resting players serious questions need to be asked. Of course Montpellier pick their strongest team. This whole thing smells a bit.

    No and no.

    It's a good selection.

We can lose by 50 points and will still get a top two seeding, so long as Toulon don't get a BP win in Llanelli.

Does this hamper our chances of getting a home semi final if our seeding goes down?

Dear nadolo, please please pleeeaaaase, don't break him.

If Leinster finish 3rd or 4th seed then yes. But it's highly unlikely Leinster will finish 3rd or 4th seed.

    Come on you Scarlets!!!

Toulon need to overcome a 37 point deficit against us.

So if we lose by 20, they need to win by 17 (and score 4 tries of course)

I think them winning in Llanelli is going to be tough.
I think them scoring 4 tries and winning is unlikely.
I think them hammering the Scarlets is a remote possibility, simply because Scarlets are likely to score a few tries of their own.

I think Toulon will go there tomorrow trying to grind out a win and top the pool, giving them a guaranteed home QF on 22 points.

Nah, Nadolo plays on the left wing so Larmour will be marking him.

They've a lot of big, potentially over rated names there. Steyn just isn't a 13.

Well, if Larmour gets a bit of ball he should skin him..

Hopefully the pitch is in a better than state than it was last year..

They might be getting the watering cans out on it...

Leinster have picked a very mobile pack with the exception of Toner. If we get a bit of possession we should be able to stretch Montpellier's bigger, slower forwards giving the like of Larmour and Lowe space to run at.

Of course we have to win the physical battle first. I'd be more confident if Fardy were playing, but there's a decent amount of power there to go along with the obvious mobility advantage.

What's with all the negativity. Giving some fringe players valuable European experience in a game we realistically don't need to win and don't even need a lbp from either.

Barring a hammering and both Clermont and toulon winning huge we are safe in the top 2 spot.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,143 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

the differences in experience in half backs will probably be the winning of the game in montys favour i think.
Other than that, maybe they might be disinterested as they are already out... but thats not a disinterested selection.

I think a LBP here would be a great return

I have no idea. Rugby isn't a cap counting exercise. That's a bloody good team Leinster have named.

bookies have toulon +6 so id imagine a 20 point victory for them would get you great odds.
They are 2/1 to win the game.

The Leinster squad v Montpellier in numbers:

    16/23 Ireland capped players (61%)
17/23 Internationally capped players - added Isa (74%)
18/23 Players who have only ever played for Leinster (78%)
    18/23 Leinster developed players (78%)
20/23 Ireland developed players - added Cronin and Henshaw (87%)

I am considering Joey Leinster developed which makes the entire bench 100% Leinster developed.

Tomane's parents are Samoan so I'd say he has a Samoan passport.

By my guess there are 4 French players in the starting 15 and 9 in the matchday squad. No wonder their national side is going backwards.
