What's the jackanory with that Akram fella? Read a lot of talk about him here during the off season, but don't ever remember seeing him in Croker during the summer. Is he only now out of minor?
Minor in 2014(?) just out of u21 last year.

Athletic lad on the Wing. Saw him play last year for DCU and he looked like a decent prospect.

What's the most reliable info source? We'll need to be hitting the road pretty soon if we're going.

Don't know but looks like still going ahead. In Westport at the moment, it's lashing and wind picking up, lots of surface flooding on roads too.

    Maby, I'm sure we'll know by 7pm!

Seems the FBD league is best played towards the end of September from now on imo. :D

Wouldnt be a bad time for it. Back in the dayy when the league started in October, I remember attending some good games then.

It's a bog from one end to the other from the photos the cousin sent me. Ball not bouncing at all

    Edwin McGreal (@edmcgreal) Tweeted:
Not sure this pitch is too playable. But it passed an inspection at 6pm. Rain not letting up either. Plenty of people expressing doubts too. #mayogaa https://t.co/CP4dJkiyaw https://twitter.com/edmcgreal/status/951889039271120896?s=17

It is like an ice rink, pretty dangerous underfoot conditions TBH.

    HT Mayo 0-8 Galway 0-6

Much much improved performance thus far from our lads in atrocious conditions. Seasoned performers excelling.Kevin Mc showing the way and Jason Gibbons has been very solid.Impressive showing from Brian Reape.

Galway will have the aid of a strong wind in the second half.

Is there much for a crowd in there selighe?

    I'd imagine around 3,000 at a guesstimate.

Galway came from 1-8 to 0-6 down to 1-10 to 1-8 up.

Down to 13 men now, Comer (Straight Red I think) and Mulkerin (Black and Yellow) sent off according to the Twitter machine.

Less than 10 to go now.

EDIT: Into Extra time. No score in 20 minutes!

He is exactly what we need, doesn't care about who is playing. goes in hard and runs directly at defenders. If he had the players around him, everyone would be on about him.

Fully agree, he's a smashing player - who would make any team in the country (would be even well worth his place FF with dublin with great players around him as you say)

He'll be the one player I'll truly fear in May for Mayo's sake

Did Galway win with 12 players?

    Yeah Galway finished with 12

I see Nally kicked a few scores

With no disrespect intended to the likes of David Drake and Boland, but surely Nally has to be the main bench option for 2018.

He has a worldie left peg and scores from distance at ease. When you lose big matches time and again by a point you've got to be considering these small margins

    Mayo 1-9 Galway 1-10

Terrible second half performance.Sole well taken goal by Peter Naughton and a point at the death from a Brian Reape free.

Galway got a stranglehold in the middle of the park and pushed on.Damian Comer came on hyped up to the nines.True cameo performance, lots of touches and a good score.Ruined it all with a needless red card for an elbow after he'd won a free.

Galway subsequently lost a further man with a black card following a yellow and lost a further player at the death with a black card.

Yet we struggled greatly to break down a resolute Galway defence. The deteriorating weather conditions were a minor mitigating factor.

Deserved win for the Tribesmen and a truly Jekyll and Hyde performance from our lads.

He indeed would walk onto any team but has a serious issue with discipline.
