No they never had one like this - the most they had was a move from April to July.
And if that puts you off, just be glad you're not a fan of shows with larger season breaks: 'Doctor Who' (16 if you exclude the TV movie), League of Gentlemen (15 years, 12 if you go by the movie), Mysterious Cities of Gold (29 years!), Twin Peaks most recently (25 years)...

The amount of build and advertising they will do before the season premiere will make it feel like one of the biggest tv events in years

    See

    Apple Orders Sci-Fi Drama ‘See’
Apple has given a straight-to-series order to “See,” a science fiction drama from “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. Francis Lawrence is set to direct.

The project, set in the far future, hails from the joint venture between Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content. Knight and Lawrence will serve as executive producers alongside Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kristen Campo.

“See” is the fourth scripted series ordered by Apple since the launch of the tech giant’s new video-content arm under former Sony Pictures Television executives Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg. The order comes as Apple continues its push into original programming. Most recently, the company announced it is developing a drama series based on the book “Are You Sleeping” with Octavia Spencer set to star and with Reese Witherspoon and Chernin Entertainment producing.

Witherspoon is also set to star in and produce a drama for Apple alongside Jennifer Aniston set in the behind-the-scenes world of a television morning show.

Apple is also set to debut a reboot of the classic anthology series “Amazing Stories”that hails from Steven Spielberg and Bryan Fuller. They have also given a series order to a sci-fi drama about the global space race from Ronald D. Moore, the showrunner of “Outlander.”

    Catch-22

George Clooney's 'Catch-22' Lands at Hulu With Series Pickup
The novel is set in Italy during World War II and tells the story of Yossarian, a U.S. Air Force bombardier trying to fulfill his service requirements so he can go home. The novel's title refers to the paradox of requirements where airmen who are deemed mentally unfit to fly are not obligated to do so, but anyone who applies to stop flying is deemed sane enough to fly.

Clooney and his Smokehouse Pictures producing partner Grant Heslov (Good Night, and Good Luck, Argo, The Ides of March) will direct and executive produce. Davies and Michod, along with Anonymous Content's Brown and Golin, are also on board as exec producers.

Catch-22 will mark Clooney's return to the small screen following his Emmy-nominated turn on NBC's ER. His TV credits also include Memphis Beat, Roseanne, Sisters and The Facts of Life.
