    The Dublin Murders

BBC One Orders ‘The Dublin Murders’; Sarah Phelps Adapting Tana French Books

    http://deadline.com/2017/09/bbc-orders-the-dublin-murders-tv-series-tana-french-books-sarah-phelps-1202177961/

Will RTÉ or the IFB have any involvement at all? It mentions Fremantle as the international distributor but I'm guessing that means outside Ireland as well.

    Amazing Stories

Amazing Stories being revived at NBC with Hannibal boss.
A new version of Amazing Stories is in the works

The anthology series is now in development at NBC with Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller, EW has learned exclusively.

Fuller will executive produce and write a pilot script for the project – an hourlong weekly anthology series telling fantastic, strange and supernatural stories.

The 1985 original ran for two seasons and was created and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, who we’re hearing is not involved in the reboot. The series earned 12 Emmy nominations and received five awards.

Amazing Stories will be produced by Universal Television with Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank (Under the Dome, Extant) serving as executive producers along with Fuller.

    Top Boy

Netflix set to revive Top Boy in multi-season deal
The streaming service is poised to announce that it is taking over the Channel 4 East London crime drama

Netflix is set to revive axed Channel 4 drama Top Boy starring Ashley Walter in a multi-season deal.

After taking Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror from Channel 4 in 2015, Netflix has swooped for another of the British broadcaster’s shows. Top Boy is an award winning drama about gang life and drug dealing on an east London estate, which ran for two series on Channel 4 between 2011 and 2013 but was not renewed.

The US streaming service is planning on making two more series of the hit drama, RadioTimes.com understands, with an announcement expected to be made imminently.

Top Boy series one and two are already available to watch on Netflix. Ashley Walters, who played drug kingpin Dushane in the first two series, is expected to reprise his role for the series with other talent due to be confirmed once an announcement is made. The show’s writer and creator Ronan Bennett is expected to be involved once again.

Rumours of the show’s return have circulated for several years, with Walters all but confirming the show’s return on Instagram in April last year.

    The Young Offenders

Just came across this from earlier this year.

The Young Offenders is to become a TV series

The BBC/RTÉ co-production to get a six-episode run - and the Cork accents are staying
Here’s some news worth celebrating. Peter Foott’s The Young Offenders, a huge hit at the Irish box office in 2016, is about to become a television series for BBC Three in association with RTÉ.
Starring Alex Murphy and Chris Walley as incorrigible idiots Conor and Jock, the film was loosely based upon a true story concerning a stash of cocaine that washed up on the Cork coast. The Young Offenders premiered to cacophonous chortles at last year’s Galway Film Fleadh and – despite the chewy Cork accents – received excellent reviews in the US and the UK.
“It’s the most perceptive comic portrait of the adolescent male since The Inbetweeners, but with a naturalism that is unexpectedly disarming,” Wendy Ide wrote in the Observer.

HBO has landed another big screen star for a limited series the network has announced, as ‘The Avenger’s’ star Mark Ruffalo will produce and star in an adaptation of Wally Lamb’s best-selling novel ‘I Know This Much Is True’.

Written and directed by filmmaker Derek Cianfrance (‘The Place Beyond the Pines’, ‘Blue Valentine’), ‘I Know This Much Is True’ tells the story of identical twins – Thomas, a paranoid schizophrenic, and Dominick his brother, whose life is dominated by his resentment of and love for his damaged twin. Dominick’s whole existence is coloured by the knowledge that his twin brother can never be fully responsible for his frightening behaviour, while he himself has beaten the biochemical odds to remain sane. But at what cost?

Ruffalo takes the leads as both brothers in the drama, as well as exec producing alongside Lamb, Cianfrance, and Ben Browning & Glen Basner from FilmNation Entertainment (‘Arrival’), who are producing the series.

At an age where most are at the peak of their career, Nolan cast aside his comfortable, small town life and moved to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop. Kingkiller Chronicle

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘Kingkiller Chronicle’ Series Set At Showtime
Showtime is developing a television series adaptation of The Kingkiller Chronicle, based on the bestselling Patrick Rothfuss book series produced by Lionsgate, with Lin-Manuel Miranda executive producing. John Rogers (Leverage, The Player) serves as showrunner and Miranda also will compose music for the series, which is based on Rothfuss’ global bestselling contemporary fantasy trilogy.

The Kingkiller Chronicle is a collaborative franchise from Lionsgate that includes a TV series adaption, a major feature film and interactive games all being developed concurrently. Miranda has been attached to the franchise as creative producer since Lionsgate announced it last year.

Set in the world of the popular fantasy series by Rothfuss, The Kingkiller Chronicle will follow a pair of wandering performers on their adventures through the unique and startling world of Temerant, immersing audiences in a universe of unexpected heroes, mystical places, and terrifying dark forces. It is a world that has delighted readers and critics alike, selling more than 10 million copies in 35 languages across the globe. The television adaption is a subversive origin story set a generation before the events of the trilogy’s first novel, The Name of the Wind.

Rogers, Miranda, Rothfuss, Robert Lawrence (Clueless, Die Hard with a Vengeance) and Jennifer Court (The Player) will executive produce. Lawrence also played a key role in bringing the project to Showtime.

“Showtime has always championed bold storytelling,” said Miranda. “Pat Rothruss’ Kingkiller series is some of the most exciting storytelling I have ever read. I could not be more thrilled to help bring the sights and sounds of his wondrous world of Temerant to the screen.”

“The Kingkiller Chronicle moves Showtime into a new genre in a powerful and unique way, led by the talented Lin-Manuel Miranda and John Rogers,” said Gary Levine, Showtime Networks’ President of Programming. “We can’t wait for this talented team to harness the magic of Kingkiller to transport us all into an awesome new world.”

“The Kingkiller Chronicle is one of the most coveted properties in the world, and we’re thrilled to partner with a brilliant creator in Pat Rothfuss, a creative genius in Lin-Manuel Miranda and a renowned showrunner in John Rogers,” said Lionsgate Television Group Chairman Kevin Beggs. “With Showtime as our network partner, we continue to assemble a world-class team for our Kingkiller franchise.”

So do networks now only look to adapt fantasy series where the writer takes an age to write any books and spends all their time doing anything else?
