One on the North side has Ursula in a melee pose. The one on the South side has her with a cloak over her and a grappling rope. The one of the East side has her holding a mirror.

Is anything depicted in the mirror ?

    A burning city.

    Ok lift the sword

The statues pull back into their slots and reveal a door behind each of them. A woman's voice echoes through the room.

"I, Ursula of Tasim, did here lay to rest my friend and companion Folen. He died so that I may live. Reflect upon his life and guard always against the Abomination. Ilberic Goodenough, the sword is yours, though I urge you to kill the beast that lies within this tomb, for my friend's sake. Long days to you."

    OOC: I'm off to bed!

OOC : Oh, are we doing the Beholder thing? I thought we were paused. That's not a complaint.

Othegre grabs the tent Ekbard left her off the camel, and runs behind a pillar shouting

"Quick, Humpygrumps! Use your caustic wit!"

She very quickly does a heartbeat assessment and wracks her brain.

"Shut up Simon, I'm trying to concentrate.... Infringement? Look, I don't know what a Gygax is but unless it's that thing out there will you please cut the yap-yap."

Big eye. Big mouth. Wait, wait, wait - she knew what this was, she'd heard stories as a little girl.... Eye Scream! What had she been told... it's delicious but it's very bad for you and you have to take care of it very quickly or it'll get all over your clothes.

Delicious, eh? She readies her sling.

OOC: We are paused, I just answered OldGoat's question. I'm glad you made that post though.
Look, I don't know what a Gygax is
OOC: Invoking Gygax in-game, you'll regret that.

OOC : I regret every word that comes out of my mouth in this game! Anyway, it wasn't me, it was Simon. I was more than happy to have Othegre be psychotic and beholden to the loudest voice in her head but no, you had to make him real.... and you had to make his awareness of all streams of reality canon rather than a cheap reason for me to be able to mention mobility scooters. So now it's his fault, and your fault :D But isn't the Beholder the Mickey Mouse of the D&D world? He's on loads of the boxes on Amazon. Don't blame me, you called down the thunder!

Also, it's hardly my fault that one of the inventors of a beloved tabletop game sounds like a beast that sits on a pile of skulls breathing chlorine out of his 8 mouths.

Ooh shiney, ok the melee door first I think to myself.

Goodie passes into a room containing three large columns telling of Ursula's life in four languages. An altar lies at the North side of the room.
On the West side are six mummified bodies. To the East is a normal wooden door.

I try to read the writing

It's brief enough. Ursula was born in Osinzir in a small village outside the capital. She spent time as an adventurer before being drawn into the war between the two Northern empires, Kyrtin and Eoblutin, though Osinzir was neutral in the conflict.

The text becomes difficult to read beyond this point, worn away from the ages.

Search the room special attention to the mummies,

The mummies come alive and lunge at Goodie.

    "Protect Ursula" they groan.

    OOC: Init time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Goodie fires an arrow into the hoard of Mummies. The explosion takes out four of them, dry body parts blown to the corners of the room. The remaining two take a swipe at him. One of them hits Goodie particularly hard in the left arm, leaving a dark bruise. Stepping backward sharply, he fires another arrow blowing them to bits.

He then searches the room. Within the wraps of the Mummies he finds actual coin amounting to 5000GP, also 3000GP in gems and two potions within the Mummy with the most expensive cloth. Reading the Hobbitish they are Giant Strength and Giant Control. He also finds a set of Elvish armour (AC: 3) and 10 Elven arrows (Damage +2).

He stops to notice that there are grey flakes about the bruise on his left arm.

    OOC: 20HP lost

OOC: Check INT, easy so -4 to roll

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Goodie remembers old Downbough who raided a tomb in his youth. His body never worked the same again.

OOC: Mummy rot. Can't magically heal and naturally heal at 1/10 normal rate.

    I check the alter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

The altar is currently bare, save an old cloth. Suddenly, Goodie feels a surge of energy pass over him and a sharp burning behind his eyes.

OOC: +1 to hit roll for the rest of the day.

Inside is a large circular room with twelve pillars within which is painted a red circle on the floor.

A corridor leads out of the room going East.

Examine the pillars, is the red circle fresh or faded used seldom
    Or often

The pillars contain carvings of scales, wheat and a sword.

The circle is not faded, a bright red.
