    Urea bb Yara gran €266/t.
    28t load.
    Down €14/t since before Xmas.

    28%N + 12%S gran, bb, €231/t.
    28t load.
    Both 30 days credit.

    All prices are + vat.

Do prices very regionally in France? Would you think those prices would be achievable near Cherbourg?

In the mid 2000's, a similar gouging was going on here, and some big tillage operators coupled with some buying groups (needed to be vat reg) imported direct from a manufacturer, and the actions of that move, broke the "cartel" that year...

Would be very helpful if an alternative source if fertiliser could be landed this spring. Many of the group's have enough product bought to do till summer, so they won't be stepping to this plate this time around..but an individual has 90€ per tonne to play with to see if he could get it landed here from France...

Would it be feasible/possible/legal to bring fertilizer from France? Maybe via back loads?

But wasn't the 266 price in France not +vat, whereas the 340 is probably vat included. So not that much difference?

    .

I would think that the price is much the same throughout the country, but the distance from port/manufacturers would vary....

Importing by truck wouldn’t be efficient.

Also I think there’s pcs no.s now on fert...it is a dangerous chemical of course. (In the wrong hands!)

It’s the same old trick...buy low, every Coop/Merchant hold the line because prices are rising...and magic Day is in 10days time, so you all will be firing it out then. Gotcha!

“I’ve only the transport out of it” is their usual line...lol.

I thought that fert is zero rated for you?

    (Another subsidy!) :)

You need to be purchasing with an Irish VAT number, then the French company don't charge the vat, and if you sell it on here in Ireland it is zero rated...

Greenwashing of a different type. Interesting how they conflate Ag, transport and industry emissions as rising instead of just using Ag emissions as the standard.

Perhaps they wouldn't be welcomed with open arm among their cheerleaders if they showed the emissions of Ag alone. Or simply stated the transport and industry emissions on their own against Ag emissions.

I don't see the writer's name on the article.
So that's why I'm wondering if any of it is true or not?

Could just be someone who didn't get the family farm.

Were you able to do them all in the crush race or did you have to use the headgate at all?

Not sure who the author is but it's from the phoenix.
Think the general gist of it is fairly spot on.

Since 1990 to now agricultural emissions have actually fallen by 3.5%.
Since 1990 to now transport emissions have increased by 138% with road transport higher again by 145%.

    Source..... the EPA.

    Them's the facts.

Used the head gate on every one of them. Got fed up after the first one trying to get the hook into her mouth. Worked well

Have you a headscoop on yours?

We did ours a few days ago everyone in the head gate too. An odd one you'd have to get a bucket with nuts to get their head out.
I had help though. We bolus the cows for minerals. I couldn't be without the scoop doing that.

I have that dosing gun with a hook left in a corner somewhere. I think they're only any good on a one sided crush with stock packed in otherwise..

Have another read of it, agriculture isn't the only target of that article, also the government's lack of action in general...

Also something not included in epa reports is a few million tons a year of co2 from soils

I find the hook great . I used it today just the new stand on this crush isn't as high and you can't reall get in over the cow to hook her

    I read it again.

It's a load of nonsense pandering to misinform the not knowing.
Not sure I agree with any of it.
The old saying "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing especially when I can use it to twist it backwards to suit my narrative " comes to mind.

I think carbon storage or usage from soils is supposed to be considered in the future. Not sure what's going to happen about the mobile carbon on farms though.
Will supermarkets be taxed for carbon trading?

    .

That article should generate a very good debate, sadly it will be shouted down as ‘fake news’...

I find it hard to disagree with the general gist of the content. Then again some of the greatest political truths were seen first in that publication...

    Yep. Fake news.

Farmer's producing milk that's not wanted. Yet today's price is 35c.
    So fake news correct.
Greenwashing a term just used to get up people's backs. Poor journalism.
Reports of nitrogen and phosphorus in water and specifically attributing it farmers when the EPA in the report blamed council and waste facilities. Again fake news and poor journalism.
Blaming agriculture for the increase in emissions when since 1990 it's decreased. Fake news and also poor journalism.

Really! What else would you call such a crap collection of words? The writer must also believe this since they never bothered to put their name to it.

You mentioned that you had a headscoop. I was thinking of buying one. I was just wondering did you think it was worth getting it? Is it a good job for when you are trying to inject cows insted of trying to catch their nose. Does it hold their head still?

I'd consider a headscoop essential on a crush.

Now they can still move up and back slightly. If you wanted them completely still maybe a halter used as well as the scoop but we're able to inject them no bother in the scoop. It will restrict them more than without the scoop anyway.
