The cult story is good and realistic enough. This is how such groups work. Everyone in that group apart from Oakley is vulnerable in some way. Oakley knows how to manipulate people and set them against each other. What makes this group different to many real ones is the lack of a religious element. More often than not, realworld cults hold bible study meetings (or their equivalent in non-Christian ones like Scientology cults) once a week and brainwash people into feeling they have to go to them. I know of people who go to these type of things and they become different people. I can understand well why Emmett has changed from what he used to be.

Good point. It is an interesting and realistic storyline. Look at the massive mental health and suicide issues we have in this country. On the need to address this, you have mental health, wellness, meditation etc etc. It was interesting of FC to show the much darker side to this of exploitation and manipulation of members and turning the gatherings into a devoted cult where violence and worse are coming down the road. I think its a great storyline.

It doesn't have to be religious to be a cult. Here we have a group of vulnerable people devoting their mind-set and life to a false god (Manson or Oakley) and who will stop at nothing to get their way. Plus don't forget that not everyone falls for the cult, just like real life. Pete and Carol and Bob know exactly what's going on and wont be persuaded.

Saw Ryan Andrews (Sean Cassidy) in panto over Christmas. He was brilliant, he really owned the stage. Met him afterwards and he was lovely. Probably totally exhausted but still had the energy for hi fives with kids and a quick chat, stand for photo, patient to make sure the photo turned out ok, and a genuine thank you when I said well done to him.

A break from what? The character is a useless dinosaur who does nothing but walk up and down the street looking down on others and being a general waste of space. Shame they didn't kill her off with that cancer storyline, at least that's realistic.

I thought she was going to have an affair with Ronan but that storyline went nowhere.

Who needs a course at trinity? Apparently a few hours working in the reception of a surgery in Munich is the route to take to be a doctor these days. Don’t worry about knowing German or anything, it’ll be grand..

How come the happy clappy group always called him Oakley and not his first name? Not so friendly.. And how the hell did Eoghan think those scars were caused by an accident? Handy how Eoghan has a bit of wood to perfectly cover the window... at least the new talking member of the group went out to see who bricked the place while everyone else stood there like dopes.

I could never see Caoimhe getting to do medicine in Ireland now. To the best of my knowledge a big part of the Hpat exam is logical reasoning and understanding peoples and I don't think shed pass.

Tommy talking about loose canons, the irony on two fronts. His stalking days and also the fact that he has a 'loose canon' in his trousers!

With Emmet and Oakley talking in the attic I was expecting Tommy to just crawl over beside them and say "well lads how's it going?"

How does Oakley manage to work as a doctor while living in an attic? Does anyone in the group have a job for that matter? They seem to just sit around and hold hands all day.

The player crashed so missed the last few minutes - last I saw was Caoimhe and Tommy coming into the pub. Anything else happen?

The story lines are gone to sh1t.
You would have to be worried about the mentality of the writers.

for once fair city is right - its "abduction" if a father takes a child but if a mother takes a baby away from a dad its grand.

I know that she's a long time character - totally pointless, I agree - but I think - and anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the FC actors work to a twelve week contract, that's either renewed or scrapped - as in the case of the actress who played Jo Fahy. So, basically, many of the actors have real jobs on the side - re the John Deegan character - especially the newer ones who don't rank as part of the FC hierarchy disappear mid storyline off screen for roughly twelve weeks, subject to contract renewal. They are never going to get rid of Dolores any more than they will Bela, Charlie, Carol, et all, as those characters are longstanding, which is why I can't help but speculate that the actress who played Niamh was given the short shirft, as her last scenes, no more than Jo's were so rushed and unbleievable. :)

Because its fair city, he could have lepped from one end of the Center to the other in a pink tutu and most of the characters wouldn't have batted an eyelid.

Logic and Reality don't exist in Carrigstown

Sorry - or course you're right - Oakley in a tutu :D the image is somewhat both comical and disturbing! But after I've watched the other soaps - though granted; can be far fetched at times, zoning back to RTE 1 and Fair City, I sometimes forget momentarily that it's a pile of auld cobblers! :D

I'm thinking of starting one myself... What can I say, I need the money! :P

I was just thinking of the current characters and I don't think anybody is really intelligent or even slightly intelligent. All I can think of is Junior he was great at finding Dermot/Niamh(The Plan) money!

My brother was sadly in the same position as Damo a few years back when his ex was going to take his son out of the country for good with her new unreliable BF. As he had no Legal Guardianship, he hadn't a leg to stand on, but unlike Damian, he didn't resort to desperate measures. Instead Legal Aid was contacted, and everything was done through the solicitors and the courts. He has equal Guardianship of his son now, and she cannot remove him from the jurisdiction without good reason, a holiday, or somesuch, without his permission. The judge granted him Guardianship in less than five minutes, and moved swiftly along to the next case.

Damo should have held back on the impulse to do what he did, and he'd be entitled to similar.... It's not easy seeing a devoted dad - real life experience talking here - almost have a breakdown because his ex is behaving unreasonably. :(

Haven't watched it, prefer to catch up on the player where I can have a giggle in peace without disturbling anyone, so I won't read any spoiler comments for tonight's episode until I've watched it. :)

Isn't it a bit lazy to have someone up in the attic again watching people? How does Oakley get in and out of there? Go to the toilet etc? Why do I watch this rubbish?
