When your buying something and they ask for the name on card is it just name on your personal details?

Same as any card - whatever you have on the card. If it's Terry Duff use that. If it's T Duff, use that.

Just have the virtual card on the app it wasn't showing a name just added it there might make a difference

Tried searching but difficult to find anything, too much discussion going on.
Signed up today only and requested a physical card, have also confirmed my identity. I want to buy a car in the UK so I'll need to transfer funds from my bank account. Car will be 20k+ so I presume using debit card option won't work as there's usually a limit. Anyone know for sure?
So if using a bank transfer it would take 2 working days, that correct?
Then when transferring is it possible to use my revolut card details like a debit card or again is there daily limits? If so how long would a GBP transfer take to pay the dealership?

    Thanks!

Read that earlier, not super clear and I was hoping for actual experiences

I've never transferred that much at once, but free currency exchange transactions up to £5,000/€5,000 per month. Anything over is charged 0.5% So you'd end up paying 20,075 for the transfer within one month

Transfers from Revolut to a UK bank account are like 1-2 days.

So find out what the daily transfer limit is, I think it#s 5k? and spread the transfer out over a few days.

So send monies from your Irish bank account > Revolut > Exchange monies > Send to UK dealer via card/bank transfer

You can use it like a debit card or transfer money direct to their account. Again, you'd need to find the daily limit

I haven't done it before so that's all just my guess

Also don't exchange currencies at the weekend as there's a slightly less favourable rate than during the week to allow for fluctuations

You can pay that in one go from Revolut by bank transfer to the dealership's back account and once you've activated your unique GBP account number, if you transfer to another UK account during business hours, the money should be in the recipient's bank account within two hours.

Quick question on the paypal default currency conversion options for your cards...

Of course it's best to get billed in the sellers currency when using your revolut card on paypal, but I take it it's best to use this option on a Bank of Ireland card too?

Can I ask how do you pick this option in PayPal, is there a setting in the PayPal dashboard or is it done on an invoice.

They sure have, but these instructions have been posted many times throughout this thread in the past. A number of people have gotten caught with conversation rates from Paypal in the past.

I did go through a lot of pages before posting, it is quite a long thread.

    Hi guys,

So I'm moving to Oz tomorrow and plan on using my revolut card for my Euros I'm taking over. I plan to stay in Oz for a year.

I was reading up on Revolut travel insurance which is included in premium and debating whether or not it would be worth me upgrading to premium for the travel insurance?

It's hard to get any answers on the support and from reading there website I found the following:
Is there a limit to the duration of cover?

    ----

Yes. The maximum number of days covered in any 12 month period is 183 days. You are only covered for a trip if it lasts less than 21 days.

So basically the travel insurance will be no use for me as I'm heading away for 12 months? Will it cover me any length of time if I sign up? Just anyone familiar with revolut travel insurance if they could explain it in better detail than their website.

    Thanks
    Brendan

Revolut offer great rates but I wouldn't be putting all my eggs in one basket.

Can't say how it compares to VHI, but it's of no use to me on account of its 21-day trip limit.

I've been looking into annual multi-trip insurance over the last week, and Revolut's policy seems to be quite a bare-bones offer, e.g. no cover for flight disruption or lost baggage.

What else would you expect? They're touting travel insurance as an add on. Selling travel insurance is NOT their main business.

So I linked the card to PayPal and Amazon. I had the $1 taken by Paypal but this morning in my bank account there is a €4 payment pending from Amazon France from 30/12 could this be anything to do with setting up the Revolut card (this was the same day I linked the card to my account)

Pending payments like that normally disappear after about 10 working days and would be common for pre-authorisation situations like you mention for both Paypal and Amazon. Keep an eye on them, they should disappear and funds should be released in less than 2 weeks. (BTW Good advice for Amazon is to purchase an Amazon gift card for the sterling or dollar value of any transaction you are making --- this gets invoiced immediately and you won't get caught out when Amazon pre-authorise an amount then invoice each item as its shipped.)

Turns out it was a payment I made myself for a subscription, used Amazon pay as payment option but totally forgot

Thanks for the info on the gift cards, will do that

I know that Revolut offer unique iban addresses now for us to transfer in euro. However, is there any conceivable way to transfer in usd? I'm stuck with an amount of usd in a currency exchange account because the beneficiary bank won't accept a transfer via one of those services. Is there some facility to transfer this money in to my Revolut account?

Anyone else get email today offering you a free contactless card? Because I was one of their early customers apparently. Took them up on the offer anyway, completely free post and all. Get to keep my old card too so be handy to have the extra one :)

Same here - I hadn't bothered availing of the recent free card offer, so it'll be handy to have a new card, with presumably later expiry date..

not optimal but at least gives you an idea
US bank > TrasferWise borderless account in USD > TransferWise conversion to EUR > Irish bank > Revolut EUR deposit

I got on to their support and remarkably it worked! ...nice to see them getting their house in order.

Apparently, I can transfer in USD - they pointed out where to navigate to the account details to deposit the dollars. I've sent that on to transfermate - so should be sorted. Just didn't want to go converting it back and lose out on fees and FX commissions, etc.

Yeah, got that too - I've ordered it up. My other cards are contactless so handy to have Revolut contactless also.

Got the same offer for me and the OH. Is it really just for early customers? Happy to get them anyway :)

I have their marketing emails switched off. I was an early customer. Anyway to figure out if I am eligible for the offer? Thanks.
