I brought a barge for an NCT last Thursday as part of a test drive. It failed on a rear suspension imbalance. Not too bad thought I. I then brought it to my mechanic and we put it on the ramp. Both front tyres were so bald they had the wire showing and there was a hughe amount of play on the passenger front wheel due to a wishbone that required replacement. Don't assume the NCT is an indicator of condition.

    That's a patient seller!

Yes he was :D Small dealer, he knew I was seriously interested, it's a difficult sell and the NCT only had until Feb to run so he agreed to let me have it NCT'd at my expense and my mechanic check it. Very fair of him. I'm waiting on part costs based on NCT and inspection before I hopefully make an offer.

That is lovely! Not a fan of the updated taillights but that’s only a small thing. Looks great otherwise

Gorgeous car, hard to believe what you can get for under 6k these days

€1809 tax would irk me for a 3.5L V6. If i'm paying top rate, its V8 or V12 or don't bother! That shape still looks remarkably fresh all the same.

Out of curiosity what would you get in a V8 or V12 for around 6k?

What are those petrols of that vintage like?
That type S class can generate serious bills but perhaps some are diesel related.

Lots of options, A8s 4.2l, E38 740s/750s, E60 550s if you can find one, E65 7s 745/740/750/760 (yes 760s can be had at this price), S500s, CL500s/600s, Range Rovers, XJs. You'd be stepping back the years most likely, but its only recently this thread became about lower displacement Lexus/Volvo models (not that theres anything wrong with that), for years this thread was mostly all the cars mentioned above. Harder to find the V12s of course, but V8s in this bracket are abundant, albeit not always good buys.

The engine is the main thing going for that 760, incredible someone would spend €170,000 on a car with no heated seats and a whole range of other options.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,516 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

Not sure if someone has posted this already but its now at the 5k mark.
I'd get it myself if I sold my F10 in the morning as I'm gonna need 2 cards for the future.

Lovely car but dreaming at that price.
    At least 2K overpriced.
    No interior pics too.
No mention of rocker cover gasket replacement or VANOS seals.

I think what's I find more incredible is that a 170k car doesn't come with heated seats as standard.

He also has another ad which is older looking for €3,400, it's a steal at that price.

Toyota 3UZ-FE - indirect fuel injection. Sounds doable.

Putting the timing belt change note in Tipp-Ex on the engine is like a red rag to a bull for me, what idiot does that, did he get some lad to change it at the back of a pub or worse still not get it changed at all? How hard is it to keep a receipt as evidence it was changed
