Which of the Ulster/Munster/Connacht systems would be deemed to have the best talent in their ranks currently?

They do. They may be in Garbally but will also be playing club rugby in Ballinasloe/Buccs

Ulster and Munster might be sightly ahead of Connacht but Leinster arent definitely ahead of both Ulster/Munster

Any idea who the next Robbie Henshaw types might be?

I have heard good things about the Murray brothers at 2nd row.

    Also Cian Huxford.

You also seem to rate the Connacht Academy as the weakest in the country. Although it has produced reasonably well for us. Is that down largely to the smaller player pool and much weaker schools game?

    Cheers.

the underage system is the weakest as there is less player playing the game etc.

A lot of homegrown players have went through the Connacht academy in recent years and not been deemed good enough for Connacht senior team.

in terms of potential star players from connacht system - Cillian Gallagher is by far the most obvious candidate.

    a back maybe Hugh Lane.

Cant really say anything like who will be next Robbie Hensahaw as he's as once in generation style player
Connacht have smaller playing pool and the schools dont have resources of schools elsewhere. But the clubs and schools work together far better than schools and clubs anywhere else in the country which is a great help to player development..

No I can appreciate that. I guess Gallagher is the next big hope.

We do seem to offload far more in the academy in the last few years, which does support the feeling that the pool may not be suitably strong enough at times.

I suppose too we see evidence in u19/ u20 national squads.

As long as every avenue and resource is being utilised that is all we can ask. Huge competition with the GAA.

The Connacht Academy is the healthiest it has been in a fair while imo. Gallagher is definitely the standout but out of the 17 other Academy guys, would be hopeful of 5/6 having long term careers with Connacht.

Jack O’Mahony glenstal/Shannon is also in the connacht sub academy and Irish u19 squad

Was in the Munster schools extended squad last year and after a good sct campaign was overlooked by Munster 19s.. went onto score 3 tries in 3 interpros for connacht

I'd rate Boyle well ahead of Fox.

    Probably agree about the rest.

Forgot about Boyle, good prospect alright. I've a feeling there are high hopes for Fox, I think he was given a three year contract rather than the new standard rolling one year ones.

Boyle is actually playing for Connacht and captaining the Eagles.

Fox wasn't good enough in Oz.

The aussies were pretty annoyed he left I think, him leaving isn't odd with all the sh*t going on in Australian rugby and franchises being closed up

Conroy won’t he’s great in space going forward but won’t get that space at pro rugby and his defence positional awareness and skills are average to be honest.. very late to be joining year 1 of the academy at 22/23

O’Donnell has gone back big time since underage performs poor in ail most weeks

Is he not just back from a pretty long term injury? Could it just be a bit of injury rustiness?

He only look up rugby at 18 so joining academy is right call because he simply doesnt have enough rugby in him and can develop the defence, postional awareness and skills. His ability going forward is worth the wait and the work.

Potentially but imo the academy contract was more to get him into a professional enironment to peak for 7s as he only started playing rugby a few years ago unlike other 7s players who have played age grade for provinces and a lot of them in the academy .. has only played once this year in ail

    Conroy won't make it.
And unfortunately I think that injury has affected O'Donnell, now he is very much a doubt IMO
