How often does this happen? Made two purchases on Amazon last week from multiple sellers and payments are going through as normal.

I had two similar situations happen to me last weekend in the UK. Plenty of sterling in my account, transaction came up on the revolut app as successful and took the money, but on the till in store it came up as rejected.

Had to wait a week for the money to come back into my account, but no clue how this happened and revoult customer service wasn't much help either.

I've had two Amazon buys be declined using revolut. Other cards work fine.
I've also had two credit transfers from the revolut card to bank accounts be declined on revolut side.
Revolut are certainly not ready to be used as your only card. It's so random you can't depend on it. And then with no support available for days, it's just a bit of a waste of time.
I'm not using it anymore until they get their sh1t sorted. Some day money is going to just go missing from accounts at this rate.
They need to get their act together.

I'm sorry to say i am now in the same frame of mind as above.

My confidence in Revolut is at an all-time low with the problems of declined transactions, and left feeling in limbo with Revolut blaming Amazon, and Amazon blaming Revolut.... yet it only seems to happen with Revolut, as my other cards work seamlessly so im swaying towards the problem being on the side of Revolut.

Kinda has a feeling that Revolut have become too-big too-quick and finding it hard to keep up with the pace.

I suspect the problem is not being too-big-too-quick but that they are not a "real" bank with their own infrastructure. They're not dealing directly with Amazon, and Amazon's not dealing directly with Revolut. Both are passing requests and authorisations through a third party, so there's plenty of opportunity for glitches.

That will no doubt get worse in the next 15 months if the Brexit negotiations stagger fowards and sideways as currently predicted. Being based in the UK, Revolut will lose its right to freely provide financial products and services to EU residents so at the very least, we'll get hit with extra transaction costs.

It's 100% Amazon's fault. Your other cards work fine as you obviously have sufficient funds/credit limit on those to cover the Amazon transactions being charged twice. If you only load up Revolut with sufficient funds to cover the transaction a single time, then obviously the card will fail when Amazon charge it after already putting a hold on funds to the same value.

As I keep saying, the way to avoid this happening is to buy Amazon credit first and then place your order.

Revolut has set up a full banking operation in Lithuania so Brexit will not impact them.

Someone was charged twice when buying Amazon credit. See https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=105499227&postcount=4928

The points you make above make no sense to me, as i have never been charged twice, nor has Amazon ever attempted to call the monies twice from any of my other cards/accounts.

And it's not just Amazon where revolut have problems. Ieven straight transfers to ibans can dissapear for two weeks.
Then revolut come back and say their payment processor has rejected the €20 you tried to transfer to your nephews account for his birthday.
Then you use a different card and he has it the next day.

Thanks for the info. Looking into it futher, I see that this is intended to make them into a "real" bank, including deposit protection under EU laws. That's something positive.

Now if they could just work on their customer service ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭KellyXX

So their support were on to me about the latest refusal. They said that it's all.down to their payment processor again. When I said this isn't good enough for a financial service, all they said was that they are taking steps to become a bank and when they do all these problems will dissapear.
I said including the fact that I have to wait several days for support. Their answer was that if I choose premium then I wouldn't have to wait for support.

That may or may not be true. But even if you do choose premium you'll still have issues when their payment server is down.

As I've said before, this is a handy backup but no more.

You're not being charged twice. The first one is a temporary hold that Amazon is placing on the funds for some reason. On most accounts this is entirely invisible, apart from the fact that your available balance reduces. Revolut makes these holds visible.

Yeah, saw that. But haven't heard any other reports of folk having trouble using Revolut to buy Amazon credit. And I personally haven't had any trouble doing this.

Does anyone know if you can top up your revolut with Perfect Incentive Card I received from work? Having difficulty with it. Coming up with AUD card also

    Edit : Got it :D

What kind of billing address did you use to get this to go through? just the default on your Revolut card already?

Have a Perfect Incentive card I'm trying to transfer to my Revolut but it won't take the billing address. Strangely, if I put in last years PI card that still has a small balance left, it will accept it with the default address I have.
Not sure where it's failing on me.

In hate having a card I have to watch like a hawk incase double transactions come out. What if I missed one? The money is just gone.
I think I'll return when regular cards until revolut sort themselves out.
It's a nice idea, but too flaky. And too long to get support from them. And rubbish support it is too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,559 ✭✭✭TheChizler

The same thing can happen with a regular card, the way Revolut display transactions just makes it more obvious. That coupled with people's tendency to only have enough cash on it as they need which means a second transaction gets declined.

I've been using regular cards for 25 years.
Never had anything like that happen to any of them.
With the revolut it's a regular occurrence.
And there is plenty of cash on the revolut card at all times, so it's not thatel either for me.

I've been using Revolut for nearly two and a half years now and it has occasionally let me down.

But by paying heed to the most important rule of all with Revolut of NEVER relying on it as your only method of payment and keeping to mind that thus far I've saved several hundred of my hard-earned euro by using it, I can easily forgive its limitations.

Its customer support is sh**e but that is for a free service and I think it is fair for them to offer better support to those willing to pay a few quid a month for it.

But if you use it as your PayPal preferred Credit card....aren't your sorted as most places take PayPal. So....just pay for everything thru PayPal if offered as a payment method you get great use of the card.

I see 3-Money Card bringing in a new minimum charge even if you have no money on card...they just take it off as soon as you top up. Glad I dumped that card for the Revolut. Much more friendly interface as well

I've having the same issue, the top up of the Perfect Incentive card is declined because of the address

Pmed you there Spocker actually about this. I used the exact same address that I registered in Revolut with my other cards. I just ignored the warning about the AUD and topped up by EUR. Just don't forget to look at the 3d code on your perfect incentive account. I got a couple of more co-workers that just registered on revolut to take the money off the card and they had no issues either.

Whats the 3rd code? Does the PI card have to be registered on an account before you can add it to Revolut?

Yes. You need to have your card registered here
    https://secure.perfectpaas.com/Account/Login

You will need to have access to the 3D security code to add to Revolut

Ye, I did that (signed up on PI), but I'm not prompted for the 3D secure code, when trying to add the add the card in Revolut. The name & addresses match between the two. I can see the pending transaction for €1 on the PI side, which is then declined on the Revolut side :/

    I'll keep trying...

When your buying something and they ask for the name on card is it just name on your personal details?
