Falling in love with another man

There’s a guy doing the same yoga classes as me. We seem to have a lot in common and he’s well fit. We have gone for a coffee afterwards and talked a lot. I haven’t been in a long term relationship in years. Haven’t even had nookie in almost a year. I was eyeing him up today and he did likewise with me.

I think I’m falling for him but I don’t know if this is reciprocated. I fear rejection.

    What should I do? :confused::o

Does having coffee after a yoga class not defeat the purpose?

Well, I wasn’t even sure he was gay until last week. Not all gay guys jump straight into the sack, believe it or not. I drink decaf coffee btw.

It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Ask him out for an alcoholic Coffee, and then for another type of a "Coffee" lol lol :D:D

If you want him go get him. Life's too short for regrets.

I think if your afraid to make a move then you have no choice but to stick with the current situation where in time you will either get the right signals or you won't.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 13,549 Mod ✭✭✭✭JupiterKid

Thanks for the advice. :) I will be bolder next week and be more direct with him. If it ends up in us having sex (or “making love”) then that will be great. But I will take things carefully. I don’t want to drive him away.

I think you whip your mickey out and challenge him to a duel although to be fair I'm not sure how gay people flirt so I could be wrong.

To be fair, if he has gone for coffee a few times then the obvious next step is a meal. If he says no then leave it at that. If yes drop into the shops for condoms, lube and leather bondage wear.

Tell him you posted this thread in After Hours.

Your bravery will impress him so much that he'll be yours forever.

That moment when you realise a poster is a mental fantasist...

Well, my partner and I are planning on staying at a naturist resort in Spain in the spring of next year. It will be a mixed resort with many couples but not a gay exclusive resort as they seem to have gone downhill lately and some appear to have become very seedy and cruisey which is NOT what we are looking for. But that's what some people are into and yes, I have gone to such resorts in the past and have no shame about it.

Just being able to swim and sunbathe naked will mean great freedom and it is adjacent to a naturist beach. People of all kinds will be enjoying the sun au naturel. I understand that this is certainly not for everyone but IMO everyone should try it.

Last year I stayed at a naturist resort and met a lot of really friendly, interesting people. Lots of Germans, Scandinavians and not as many Irish and English. One guest was a senior English police officer who holidays in nude resorts with his wife and was so decent and friendly. Not sure he tells his colleagues back home where he holidays but I'd say in 2017 most wouldn't bat an eyelid.

You do get pervy single men at some of these beaches but the hotels tend to try to exclude them. Proper order. We are there to enjoy taking in the sun and swimming in complete freedom, not to be ogled at.

Looking forward already to the holiday! :)

Maybe they broke up? Maybe he's thinking of cheating on his boyfriend? Maybe they're in an open relationship?

I don't know the poster or his situation, but there are multiple possibilities to explain this beyond "this guy is unequivocally making crap up".

Weird relationship to not classify it as a long term relationship or having sex for a year but referring to the person as his partner and planning on going overseas to a naturist resort.

I dunno, it's a crazy world we live in and for shame Jupiter. Now I can't trust anything you say. Are you even gay? Are you even a man?

Be sure that he is a homosxual before making a move.

I've seen a gay friend of mine getting this type of thing very wrong before. It wasn't nice.

Is he even a kid? Or from Jupiter?
I dunno, I thought the really weird thing was someone trawling back through another boardsies posts to try and make a liar out of them. I know which one I would prefer to have over to dinner. (Spoiler - and it ain't the trawler.)

The "trawls" usually take a few seconds on the search facility here. It's not that weird, nor is it making a liar of anyone, it points to an apparent contradiction and asks someone to explain it.

It isn't but what does it matter? Anecdotes are a mutable kind of thing, people could choose to reframe a more distant experience in the present or near past. What's the big deal? And even if people lie about silly things for amusement's sake, so what? Meh.

Uh? Two threads, one about enjoying nudity, one about asking a guy from a yoga class out, and someone has to explain ''apparent contradictions''. It's a fecking board on the internet, not a court of law.

Oh right. I’m on the touch site and it says 2 years ago above the post.

I would often say ‘years ago’ when talking about something 1-2 years ago.

Yep. My old writing mentor used to say we become writers (ie storytellers) the first time we tell a lie. Lie meaning all the variations including exaggeration, time dilation, changing characters, and so on and so forth. While I generally tell the truth about what I am prepared to share here (or else I don't share), I certainly don't feel bound by any charter or code of honour to be meticulously honest about every detail of every scintillating observation I make  on an anonymous internet board.

The apparent contradiction is that one refers to not having a partner for a long time, and the other is from a few weeks back and refers to a partner in the present tense.

You are correct, it's not a Court of Law, it's only an internet board, and that applies to you questioning the relevance and motives of sabat's observation.

Sounds like you've the hard part done already.

All things considered, you haven't got a whole lot to lose by asking him. This is how it should be done. :)

The OP mentions "another" man, although no fumble for a year sounds... more like a hetro marriage
