28499 total FTTP nationwide between all operators in Q3 up from 19125 (49% increase). It looks like we'll finally make the FTTH Council's list of countries with at least 1% penetration.

Average fixed broadband speeds continue to increase. In Q3 2017 approximately 81.5% of all fixed broadband subscriptions were equal to or greater than 10Mbps up from 76.5% in Q3 2016 12 . 70.5% of all fixed broadband subscriptions were equal to or greater than 30Mbps, up from 62.5% in Q3 2016.

70.5% of fixed connections at 30Mb/s or higher .......... I am really feeling the pain. I am not even in the 81.5% on 10Mb/s or greater :(

    I think I'm in the 99th percentile

Would be good if this was an iq test lol

Are eir's FTTH cables available to other operators e.g. Vodafone?

Not Vodafone currently. The list of other operators is here. FTTH resellers have the green house icon.

    Available - yes.

Vodafone have decided not to use them - yet. ;)

Do Eir provide the router in advance of the installation or does the engineer bring it?

    Hi

I got my ftth fitted 2 days ago I'm on the "up to 150" package.

On wifi standing beside the hub I can only get 50 and that is on the 5g on the 2.4g there not much difference. Should there be? It's about 47 on that

is anyone getting better speeds? Any way off improving it?

I would have thought there would be a big difference on the 5g to the 2.4

Have you Tried running a Speedtest on Ethernet?

Well, as expected really, my fifth appointment for FTTH has come and gone and another no show  When I rang, having been sent around the OpenEir/Eir/KN houses once more, there was no record of the appointment that was made 10 days ago. Just a note re a preliminary appointment that wasn't confirmed to OpenEir. I got cut off 3 times when the CS agent went to 'investigate' but I kept on ringing.

Next appointment is the 4th January as there's nothing available sooner. I am making a formal complaint, but each of the three are denying liability for the utter shambles - and blaming each other in the process. I have kept details of dates, times and persons spoken to, but I know I'm wasting my time :(

Let this be a lesson to anyone considering Eir - be prepared for a complete fiasco! Keep records of every phonecall, communication and CS agent's name. Remind them that you'll be wanting the phone records from the recorded calls.

Wi-fi should never be a test of your speed - too many factors come into play

Yes it's really good about a 110 most off the time but would have liked wifi a little better than 50 is there a better hub you could buy?

I rang them. Waste of time. If you have light, you have fibre. Thing about a better router.

Same with any company (VM included) - they won't provide support for wi-fi unless there is something actually wrong with it

out of interest what are you using to test the wi fi speed, is it phone, say make and model, if laptop say make model and age. i have ftth and can test as well.

Vision wont work if your phone number hasnt been applied. If you're bringing that in from another network it might take a day or so.

I,also, have 300Mb Eir fibre and my phone is still on "old" copper line.

Do you sill pay for both copper and fiber??

I disconnected the Copper line to connect my internal wiring to the F2000

    All part of the package.

If you have copper then your phone continues on it else it's VOBB, fibre still has a phone line charge regardless whether you avail of it or not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 420 ✭✭eiei0

I thought once you got FTTH they cut off the copper and you just connected you phone to the modem??

So does the fee I am paying Eir now cover both the FTTH and the old copper phone line ???

Hmm interesting- have you tried separating the 5gHz network rather than running it in combined mode? May make a difference
