Still showing in Athenry, light enough, but every little helps.

It was raining when I checked at 5. It’s snowing here now and starting to stick (Kildare town)

Kildare farm foods have a Christmas thing on... the big red man is there. If it’s snowing down this end might be nice at the farm

Fields all around Kildare farm foods are as green as can be. According to a neighbour, Santa is currently having his breakfast at the moment, so the weather didn't cause him any issues. :)

Do bring wellies - its very muddy.

Snow in Athlone, and still snowing ⛄

Can't understand how it's raining in some parts of the midlands like celbridge. Is the precipitation too light?

Intensity doesn't really have any effect in such saturated conditions. We need lower relative humidity for the water to evaporate into.

The problem here is just a combination of the marine layer and low altitude.

Santa visit up there this morning, is it advisable?

I can see larch hill from my window. There's lying snow and it's still snowing

What are the reports from Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Meath. Was the orange warning right in the end?

Heavy snow between Rathdowney to Portlaoise via Abbeyleix.
Heavy rain @2.30am then started snowing and it got heavier.
0°C and very light snowfall at present.

Mix of rain and sleet here in south Dublin, but there is some snow on the cars and grass which isn't being washed away by it, temp is 1.6c, we are 100 asl and the hills behind us are completely white and looks to be still snowing up there

In north cork we have plenty precipitation all night but just rain. It's 8 degrees but a cold one outside.

There was a little now lying around Dublin/Meath/Kildare border during the night when I got up to the baba but it's long since been washed away by fairly heavy rain.

Gorey, North wexford.... torrential rain all night , still heavy as I type. Pools of water all around the garden. Just a heavy rain event here, as forecasted to be fair. Only BBC said we would get snow here.

Only snowflakes to be seen in North County Dublin are on Christmas cards. As expected, this sadly has been a non event :(

Snowing at last in Waterford ! Not sticking to saturated ground though.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,410 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

Quite often this morning people are mentioning temperature. Of course it's far more complex than that with dew points and upper air temps equally indeed more important.
It can snow at 5C and rain at 0C

I expect large disruption today as remaining ppn across the country quickly turns to snow
Places like Clare/ Limerick and later Cork should all see some

Not the most scenic of views but you get the idea.
Moderate snowfall now in Galway city - starting to settle on all surfaces
    Temp 0.6C, DP -0.1C

West Wexford beside the blackstairs and there's about 2cms of lying snow and snowing away.
The rain must have stopped and snow started about 6am.
    115 m asl.

Lashing rain here in North County Dublin + not even a but of frost. Met Eireann are a joke with their weather warnings. It was the same with storm Ophelia. Yes it was bad in parts of country but not Dublin. Maybe they need to start doing two weather reports. One for Dublin + another for rest of the country.
