Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah Im a bit worried that the collapse of bitfinex could affect the price of Cryptos overall.
But bitfinex does seem to have been doing dodgy stuff the last while so hopefully it wont affect other places.

I have 1 iota left on Bitfinex but they have a minimum transfer amount of about 10 euro!

Just have a read, if anything will crash the market then it will be these guys and it will be big. There has been a massive run on people withdrawing in the last few days and people are struggling to get their funds out.

Cheers can anyone recommend a good wallet for IOTA ?

I use the default wallet with light node.

Just create a seed locally, don't trust any site with creating it for you. Save it securely, log in with the seed, select a server, click receive, connect to tangle and use the address shown for receiving. It is a 1 time address so don't use it again. History will show pending transactions.

Bought some IOTA there last week. I've been trying to withdraw it from Bitfinex all morning, keep getting a bad gateway error. It's a little bit disconcerting, but looking at their subreddit it seems there are other people in the same boat, and their support team seem to be aware of it.

Just on the wallet, I'm using the light node, and I was wondering if it's safe to create your own seed out of random words? That's what I have done at the moment, just want to make sure that's a safe enough way to go about it.

I used LastPass password generator then I manually edited a few characters. I'm sure you can make your own seed, was a while ago but think youre not allowed some characters in the seed

Using random words rather than random characters makes it technically easier to brute force it, but its still pretty much beyond any computing capability we have today or in any sort of reasonable future. (Though quantum computing may impact this, then again it may drastically impact crypto mining etc also!)

IOTA is now my biggest coin - I got in at 90 cent but it was min for ages. Wondering if its worth selling now as its on the way back down.

Mine is on Bitfinex - I had trouble logging in todauy, should I move to Binance?

I would get it off Bitfinex, they appear to be in trouble and might not last too much longer. Dodgy tether dealings and they appear to be wash trading IOTA to pump the price.

    Hi,

I hold IOTA on Binance. Do you think I should set up a wallet to move the Iota to or just keep on binance?

Anyone got any good steps on setting up a wallet if Im best too.

    Regards,

Doing that now. How long would it normally take to transfer from Bitfinex to Binance? Email said up to 24 hours. What happened to cryptos being bale to transfer money worldwide in seconds?

So I sent a very small amount as a test to make sure it worked - Bitfinex to Binance. Good job I did as it did not appear in Binance. What should I do?

I think there are massive delays with bitfinex

There are. Over 2 days for BTC and ETH. Neo was pretty quick though.

Ok, It's 3 days now but I'll wait a few more.

Buy ETH via Kraken or Coinbase (if they'll allow you - could be temp suspended atm), transfer ETH to Binance, buy IOTA.

Bought iota with XRP on binance some people seem to think IOTA is gonna go very high over the next few years. What are people’s thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

It may. It depends on industry support and whether or not enough nodes come online consistently for them to drop the central hub they currently operate with.
If devices start shipping with little internet-enabled IOTA modules or some Tangle-polling mechanism gets baked into device operating systems then that'll be that worry pushed into the past and IOTA will quickly jump, but that may take a year or three to happen.
How fast can they develop now that they'll have partners giving them both aims to focus on and ideas to build upon?

This is basing price on fundamentals btw, which as we all know is a ridiculous notion in cryptos.
Could 5x tomorrow because Kim Kardashian tweets that it's a "neat" concept and she'll be having a chip implanted to her face so she can get micro-transaction-enabled collagen injections whenever the device recognises her skin is losing it's tautness.

Whilst a great idea, it will become redundant, the "cloud" is becoming more and more dominant, i don't see it happening and as for replacing the blockchain - no way will this replace it. Can IOTA technologies be incorporated to utilise cloud based solutions?

We will definitely see more cloud based solutions and mobile devices becoming dominant than traditional pc's/laptops etc, it will be a very long time before manufacturers of these devices consider to incorporate IOTA chips or software (in my opinion), personally i am looking at cryptos based around moble, cloud based, privacy etc

Also "that announcement" or rumour/lie about a microsoft partnership done this project no favours at all, i would worry if it came direct from the IOTA team.

I sold all my IOTA and used the profits to buy large amounts of other alts.
Maybe I should have held onto a few, who knows! Will be interesting to see what happens in the long run with it.
