Bandylegs looks around and eyes the canyon.

'Goodie, where did you come from? You seem to have used a few arrows. Did you spy any area we could leave our horses that would not be in plain sight at least?'

'Are you mad? Betty has strength only Ekbard can possibly match. We need her for the dangers we may face.

Betty, what say you? Is there a safe haven for the horses whilst we enter the tomb?'

Betty holds her arm and binds the wound with cloth, poring alcohol over it.

"Aye, the inn, we can take 'em to the inn. A troll, this close to the village all along, why would Thurmun...."

She mumbles while staggering over to the horses.

Bandylegs smirks and turns to Moy.

'Aye, maybe. But ye saw her skill with the hammer, lad. As I said, only Ekbard can hope to match her for strength. And judging by what guarded this tomb, we may have great need for the strongest among us.'

Othegre limps around the troll, looking for pockets, a bag, folds of fat, anywhere there might be a little treasure. She winces as her ribs grate together, shaking her pencil and growling at it
"I fed you, I tended you, Where are my berserker powers??"
She coughs, sending a spray of blood over the pencil.

    Bandylegs turns to Ekbard.

'Seein' this... monster. And lookin' at poor ol' Betty in bad shape.Perhaps the little one is right. We should ride for the town, and make haste. Stable our horses and allow Betty here to heal up.'

    Bandylegs kicks the troll's body.

'Anyone fancy dragging this lump back to town? We might get some answers from the brotherhood about what lies within.'

Saeros takes a last look at the crushed body of the orc leader and thinks about how he shall now have to carry his own stuff instead of using the orcs as beasts of burden and potential cannon fodder. I shrug and move on.

I wander around picking up the arrows I fired and totally missed with during the battle*.

I keep thinking about the runes on the entrance and what the orc said..."My ancestors used to work for the Dark Lord Tumuz and his brother Carax. The humans in this village think they were enemies. Not so. Carax made an artefact, called the Portus. I believe it's a doorway to Carax's own private realm, probably still got all his treasure."
I've just returned from another plane and that wasn't too bad so how difficult would it be to use this Portus and bag some coin? I weight up the odds and make my decision to go.

I lead my horse 'piph back up the trail and hobble her to stop her wandering too far.

Still thinking that we might be able to fix the Tourney somehow by weakening Betty I say "The dwarfs concubine comes with us, we need her strength."

I ready a torch and follow Illberic the Halfling into the entrance to help him check for traps, hidden doors, look and all the other good stuff.

*OOC You guys keep having battles while I'm not online. :) Lets just assume I took part and missed all my rolls.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

ooc - Suja's tits! You just walked past the feck-off big rock troll that turned my chest cavity into an Othergre purée and didn't say a word about setting fire to him! And you lit a torch! Are you out of your elfen mind??? (Might be some xp in it for you if you get the final kill and ask nicely...?)

At the mouth of the tomb, shoved into a crevice in the wall is a chest containing all the pickings the troll has collected over the years from those naive enough to attempt a raid of the tomb.

Within the Chest Goodie can see:

    2 GP

Three large green gems (225 GP)

A princesses evening jewelery (1,200 GP)

Three vials containg potions granting speed, longevity and temporary use of the ESP spell.

At the bottom lies a bastard sword, sharper than usual and of superior make, that glows brightly.

    OOC: Everybody gets 1,425 XP

Saeros disarms a small poison tipped dart hidden in the lid of the trolls treasure chest.

Inside is the first room of the tomb...

    OOC: next post is tomb

The first room within the tomb is impressive in size. Containing eight ten foot high murals depicting Tumuz's conquest of the area around Thurmunton.

One mural of particular note shows a town yielding to him, Soetrard in an early stage of its development.

Most murals depict him with his brother, Carax and assisted by Orcs, Ogres, Trolls and Demons of a particular winged species.

In one image the demons assemble at sunset to attack some enemy of Tumuz who lived atop a volcano.

Beneath the murals are benches, old rusted weapons and torture tools.

Saeros finds nothing dangerous within the room.

Bandylegs checks for any hidden objects.

'If we are to progress and this room is in fact safe, maybe Othegre and Betty should rest up before venturing further.'

Bandylegs takes a ration from his backpack and eats it quickly.

Ekbard finds nothing significant. As a warrior, he can tell the swords have been here for at least three centuries.

The room is of dwarven craftsmanship, the murals are too perfectly painted to the wall. They are in fact died stone.

    However it seems safe enough.

A dim echo returns from the next room, which is moderately lit by the sunlight coming through the entrance.

'Ekbard, I would avoid touching the walls of the room. The murals you see are dyed stone so it mayhap that traps are contained within.

Does anyone else see anything of note?

Betty, how hurt are ye? Can ye continue?'

Betty leans against the wall. "I'll fix myself, thank you for your concern Nerosian, but I have this...", she pulls out a vial and chugs it down.

Her flesh begins to knit together...
Betty, how hurt are ye? Can ye continue?'
"Aye my love. Tis, but a flesh wound...." she looks at the murals "more my soul has been harmed.....how wrong we were...."

She looks blankly into the next room.
