Aren't they separated by Kilrush? Do you they allow non-bordering amalgamations?

no what i ment was , amalgamate with one of there neighboring parish's , kilkee refused an offer from the west clubs to join up a few years back , while the gaels are joined up with kilmihil at underage , but if they joined up with a neighboring parishs like coolmeen , kildysart or kilimor from the intermediate division to still maintain a certain level of senior status

Cooraclare 3-6 Eire Og Inis 0-7

So Cooraclare win the Clare U21 Football Championship after a 8 point win over the Ennis side. Congrats to the sky blues. The 3 day turnaround clearly affected Eire Og in the end as Cooraclare outscored the Ennis men 3-3 to 0-3 in the 2nd half. Jack Morrissey with all 3 of Cooraclare's goals. Killian Roche with 6 points too.

yeah good win , jack morrissey has the makings of a good footballer to be fair , probably one of the best up and coming forwards in the county along with cormac murry from miltown he is still under age next year

killian roche scoring six points is fair going for a lad that spends most of his time in goals

Can you confirm whether Jack Morrissey and Cormac Murray are in Colm Collins' Clare senior football squad for 2018. You are dead right they are 2 outstanding young footballers. Why was Jack not part of the Clare minors in 2016 when they gave Kerry a fair rattle in that year though? Also can you clarify whether the following players Eimhin Courtney, Jonah Culligan and Conor Finnucane are in or not in the Clare senior panel for 2018. Thanks.

It a pity Shannon Gaels didn't amalgamate a few years ago with Killimer especially when Killimer didn't have adult team for a couple years. Kilkee completely took eye off the ball at juvenile level and paying for it now. When you see the great work Naomh Eoin & O'Currys(joining forces) have done at juvenile level in recent year it puts Kilkee to shame as they would have much more numbers. Seems to be same issues in North Clare with Liscannor and Ballyvaughan in particular struggling.

Jack Morrissey was on Clare panel this year and should be there again next year.

Culligan is definitely on the panel anyway.

They didn't train at all. Also O'Currys, Naomh Eoin & Killimer amalgamated for a year or two before O'Currys went senior and played as St Imy's.

courtney , culligan are still involved since last year , jack morrisey was drafted into the extended panel after the league last year and worked his way onto the bench for the qualifiers i believe ,

he was on the minor panel in 2016 but at the time was not deemed by management to be playing well enough to start one of the earlier games and was dropped , a row developed between management and his father who was over cooraclare's u21 today ,he then pulled jack off the panel

i am not 100% sure about cormac murry but if he is not on the panel he should be ,

i know there has been new additions in ross phelan from kilrush who was on the minor team this year and had a serious game against dublin in the 1/4 final

also on the minor panel this year is dermot coughlan who is a fine footballer but the jury is still out if the kib players will be committing until the club v county debate is sorted

collins will probably draft a number of players onto the extended panel for the A v B games after the league next year again , the likes of conor finnucane mikey o'neill from lissycasey along with cathal downes from o'currys were drafted on to last years extended panel mid season but saw very little game , time o'neil got a few minutes against meath in the last game of the league

In fairness that was crazy - I played for them and only knew the lads from our club and the other west clare club. No idea of the lads from the north.

I think that could be over 10 years ago..

Was it ten years ?.....time flies.

It was the brainchild of Malty McDonagh if I remember correctly.

Yep I lived in the county at the time and moved away around '06.

They probably would have been better if they a separate west clare and North clare team.. least then there could have been training.

I remember having a couple of challenge matches amongst ourselves and that was it..

    NOF 2-09 - 0-13 Sixmilebridge

good win for the blues in a 2 point win over county champions sixmilebridge in clonlara today

in a fairly niggly game with plenty of edge added to it the blues had colin gilfoyle and colin ryan to thank for with both hitting the net in a game in which scorers were mainly reserved for free takers with just 7 scores in total coming from play in the entire game

colin ryan notched up 1-8 for the winners, 8 frees and a goal from play , 2 of the 8 frees came in added time and the difference at the end , jamie shananhan finished the year off where he started in fine form for the bridge with 9 frees for the county champions but it was'nt enough in the end

it has long been argued , and today is an example of why the league games at club level need to be compleated before the start of the championship , and not played on the 9th of December

Colin still the best free taker in the county by a distance.

Two things that are coming out ahead of the annual Clare GAA convention to take place on this Thursday. There is a possibility of playing league matches during midweek in order to ease the fixture backlog and clubs maybe forced to go down that route according to secretary Pat Fitzgerald.

It has also been confirmed that the annual spend on Clare inter-county teams fell by 50,000 Euros to 710 k during 2017. This will add fuel to the fire for critics including myself that the level of funding and resources given to Clare inter-county teams this year was not the same compared to the Davy years where anything DF wanted, he got during his 5 year reign as Clare senior hurling manager. Clare GAA recorded a surplus of over 136,000 euros.

The convention will take place on this Thursday night at the Auburn Lodge Hotel with Bernard Keane (Treasurer) set to vacate his position after completing his five year term. While other roles to be filled include assistant secretary and PRO.

I really wouldn't believe the finances that are being reported, they are complete fiction, most of the funding for DF came through the supporters club which isn't reported through the county board.

There's no 5 year rule for the treasurers position. Bernard Keane has 12/13 years done at this stage I'd say.

Does anyone know of any challenge matches coming up for the Clare senior hurlers and footballers between now and the start of the respective Munster League and McGrath Cup?

In terms of the new arrivals to the senior hurling panel, can anyone confirm whether Keith White, Aidan McCarthy and Diarmuid Ryan are on the Clare senior hurling panel after having great seasons with the Clare minor hurlers.

A change in venue will see the Clare senior hurlers take on Kerry in the opening round of the Munster Senior Hurling League on Saturday 30th of December at 5 pm in Sixmilebridge.

The Clare senior footballers open their campaign against Waterford in the McGrath Cup, provisionally set at Cusack Park Ennis at 2 pm also on the 30th of December.
