Japan had a few chances at the end to set up for a drop-goal but couldn't keep any composure.

Final score? For the Japan game?

    England 48 Samoa 14

Conversion missed in the end was costly for Japan but still a great result all the same.

Awful for France, 0/3 in their Autumn series.

Some of the decision making from French players at the end there was shocking. Kicked the ball touch at 79:30 and hoofed it down field to give away possession with the clock dead.

ref gifted france two tries neither tackle was high

Draw. Japan really throw their bodies on the line. They certainly won't be any pushovers at the World Cup. Very good in the loose and impressive backs. Scrum not great. Ireland should fear them

    Finished 23-23
They could have set up the drop goal but kept going wide the wonderful mad bastards
People on the bus probably think I'm mad- kept shouting at my phone

Scotland and Japan suddenly look pretty damn competitive now in our pool

I don't think we should particularly "fear" them. We just 3 nilled them at home missing some of our best players.

EDIT: 2 nilled* thought it was a 3 test tour for some reason.

Put a tenner on Japan at 44 minutes when they had just drawn level and the conversion to go ahead. They were still rank outsiders at that stage according to the bookies.

Post match interviews with a French and a Japanise player, yet you hear two kiwi accents. The age we live in!

I don't know if they had the same personnel because they were up for it today, reminded me of their performance in the last WC against South Africa.

I would have generally been barnes greatest critic, but he's let a lot more go recently and been generally good.

Don't think we've much to fear from Japan. France are absolutely awful and incredibly poorly coached. Noves is a massive failure and completely unequipped to coach at this level in this day and age.

I've had to skim through the game as I wasn't able to watch it live but I can't believe a team of professional players from one of the top leagues in the world are collectively able to make so many bad decisions continually throughout a game against a team like Japan.

While ye were watching Ireland play Argentina, this was a nice little defensive masterclass from Sam Cane

    That's a good performance.

Incidentally it highlights probably the one thing I admire most about the All Blacks. He's not a massive guy, none of them are but their technique is so impressive that they don't lose the physical contact at all.

That or their all roided upto their eyeballlz

Sam Cane is big for a 7

Sam Cane is big for a 7

Basically the same size as SOB, TOD, JvdF and the GOAT.

He'll never be a great AB but he his reliable, solid and does his job. Wouldn't be surprised if Ardie Savea moved ahead of him in the next couple of years as he is more athletic and a good ball player.

I'm not so sure on that. He was excellent in the Lions series. I thought SoB was marginally the better 7 in the tests but Cane was seriously impressive.

He's only 25 yet he already has over 50 caps for New Zealand which suggests he's a very good player. Anyone who comes in to replace McCaw is going to pale in comparison as he's possibly the greatest player of all time, but Cane has done a smashing job in filling the void.

Is Gareth Davies injured? Can't see why else they'd retain Webb and dump him.

"It’s a good chance for Aled to get a start. The other two… Rhys has had a knock last week and today is the first time he’ll take a full part in training. Gareth has been carrying a shoulder for the whole campaign. Aled’s been fit and taking part in training. It’s a great chance for him to start." Gatland

Cane is brilliant. He held his own single handed against Warburton and O'Brien against the Lions when SBW was sent off.

Cane is a very good player but the problem is AB 7s are held to ridiculously high standard. Jones and McCaw are top of the list. Then Kronfeld then a bunch of very good players like Cane.

Anyone know if there's any particular reason Wales play four Autumn Internationals each year (from memory anyway) as opposed to the three that the rest have? Is this a new thing?
