The Bin people of whatever they're called back in it now too :(

    Stopped watching once
    Glenn
got killed. Not because of that, but just got bored with it. Will probably binge watch the rest eventually, but preferably once it's finished.

Think we're done with it. Have a few episodes sitting on the Sky box, not sure they'll ever be watched.....

The latest episode was awful. But I know I'm going to watch next weeks

just checked and I got stuck on S7 E14, tried it a few times and I just turn it off and I was only able to get through the few previous episodes by leaving them play in the background

The ratings have taken a hit too. Still relatively decent, but the people have spoken.

I haven't bothered with the last two episodes and can't say I've really missed it. The reviews and comments on here aren't exactly encouraging me to catch up either. It was an OK show but last few seasons have been poor with a lot of repetition and the first few episodes this season have been plain daft.

I'm really hoping S9 can surprise us. I assume most, if not all, of S8 is already filmed and in the bag, so unless something radical happens in the second half of the season, we may have to wait until S9 to see if the writers and producers have listened to the fans and do something different. I know it follows the comics, so hopefully Robert Kirkman can write some stonking stuff for the show to follow.

They dip in & out of the comics & to be honest the comic’s gone a bit downhill since Negan. Not cos of Negan, I love comic Negan as a character but there’s nowhere really to go with the story once he’s defeated. They’ve been missing the mark for a while for me.

Episode 5 had less than 8 million viewers. Lowest ratings since season 2

I watched the first two eps of this season...not watched it since...realised I wasn't looking forward to it anymore so just stopped, it was becoming more and more improbable and thrown together..I think that's me done.

Yeah, i follow the comics as well and outside of the main cast i have no idea who most of the people in it are and i really don't care what happens to them.

It is getting to the point where it is nearly as bad as the show. I think it's time to just nuke the entire thing and move onto the next fad. It doesn't hold up for long past the initial outbreak and people learning to survive.

After that it just turns into a loop of- new big bad:kill them off:peace for a couple of days:repeat

Exactly, they've very well established that walkers aren't a threat anymore and the real monsters are - DUN DUN DUN - people. They've done at least 3 big storylines on this between the Governer, Negan &
    the Whisperers
, as well as numberous smaller instances of people being dicks.

Someone mentioned finding a cure which was touched on with Eugene originally but dropped once he was outed as a liar, that's probably the only real place to go with it. No one's tried to establish the cause which I guess is fairly unique in modern zombie tales but the result is there's no chance of resolution cos they don't know what they're meant to fight against.

I've thought this aswell. Another issue for me is that a lot of the newer characters they introduce have no depth. We rarely get to find out their history and there's nothing to relate too. They often come across as one dimensional, lacking authenticity so it's hard to care. They may as well be zombies :/:)

I think thats the difference between what they did with The Governors charachter and Negan and why Negans coming across as cartoonish/cheesy.

It's a shame its going like that but it might have just run it course.

I hated what they did to the Governor in the show, same with Andrea. Two amazing characters & they mucked them up on screen. Think that's when I really lost faith in the screenwriters & showrunners. It all got boring once they got to Woodbury. Season two was a bit dragged out on the farm but I thought they recovered from that. Killing Shane was a poor decision on the show as I felt he carried it. I know he died in the comic too but he was a great character. Too many poor castings too, Tyrese was poorly cast, Abraham I thought was poorly cast. They nailed it with Darryl though, he was a great addition to the show & I think Eugene is cast perfectly.

I didn't bother with last season and I haven't watched this season either, just can't be arsed with it anymore.

I thought The Governor was good. He was an emotionally unstable control freak. The way he kept his zombie daughter and what was that with the heads he use to keep? :/ Also remember when, out of nowhere he just opened fire in a rage at his own men! He did have a softer side which we saw with Taras sister and daughter. I think it would be good if they showed a bit more flaws in Negans character like that.

I loved Shane. I do think how his storyline went was brilliant but it would have been nice if they made him a recurring character. He could have been separated from them when the farm was attacked.

Characters I'm talking about are like Aaron and his bf. Someone said it well in another thread about how you just didnt care and their scene together the other week had no impact.

Eugene is alright. He's a wimp and an eccentric but he gets moments where he surprises you unlike Gregory who is also a wimp but had that cartoonish far fetched thing as well.

I really enjoyed last weeks episode. I thought it gave Negan a depth that we simply don't see very often in villains. Not in any of the dialogue scenes, but in the action one where
    he went back for Gabriel
. There was really no need for him to do that. The Governor was a mad man and his arc with Taras family I found really jarring. Negan is far more nuanced.

I also like that it is in many ways a totally different show now to what it was originally. And it's gone that way in a logical and fairly natural way. Some of the writing is a bit poor at times, but there's still a lot of good stuff in there too. Being invested in the characters helps too as it can gloss over some of the less convincing ones, like Gregory.

I think most shows have a shelf life in terms of wide spread popularity. Most people don't stick with shows like this for this length of time anyway (unless you're looking at things like soaps etc which don't really tell stories in the same way). There will always be a drop off over time.

I think Negan has been a big disappointment since his enjoyable entry into the series. Just doesn't ooze menace like he ought to.

The writing on this show is almost consistently poor aside from the very occasional decent episode and sometimes good mid season episodes and season finales. It's just plot hole after plot hole, crap speech after crap speech all performed by a cast of one dimensional, underdeveloped characters who I couldn't give a toss about.

I've watched since the beginning and while it was never top fare, it at least held some quality to it. The last few seasons have been dire and while I'm never one to stop watching a show (see, Dexter as an example), TWD might become the first to literally turn me off to the point of turning it off.

As for your point of shows waning over time, see The Sopranos, Breaking Bad and jesus, even Mindhunter as examples of consistent quality.

How many of those shows went beyond 6 seasons though?

If quality can't be maintained, why has TWD persisted past that point? It's a mess by now.

I wasn't talking about quality. I was talking about popularity. Personally I'm still enjoying the show, as are quite a lot of others.

So to answer your question, money.

Really? I don't read the comics so I have no frame of reference for either character, but I thought both actors did a pretty good job?...

Although if ever a character got a raw deal from writers/producers, it was T-Dog :( He had great potential but was continuously relegated to the background in almost every scene. I struggle to remember a scene where he was the focus, except for the scenes where himself and Dale were talking on the roadside after he cut his arm and couldn't help to search for Sophia.

T-Dog had potential, I initially thought he was a makeshift Tyrese. Comic Tyrese was Ricks right had man for a while, was very involved with the prison set up & fighting the Governor. Had one of the best bust ups with Rick too. I thought Tyrese in the show was just a bit character flip flopping between the two sides. Come to think of it Abraham was a very similar character but he was integral for setting up the defenses of Alexandria. Didn’t like their on screen adaptions. And Andrea was on of the best comic characters, they butchered her in the show.

Ive finally decided to stop watching this. I spend most of my time on my phone when an episode is on. And im watching it now in hope that this is the final season. All I want to know now is how it ends and I can just an easily check that if and when the time comes. I feel like I've wasted so many hours watching this because most of it was so bad. But that's it now. Im out.

I'm gonna give it the remainder of the season and then I'm out. I'm almost certain they'll continue to disappoint but I'll at least let the season run.

have there been any fan re-edits yet? If it hasn't been done I'm sure something watchable could be made with enough effort
