Once again we saw an example of what's wrong with this show a few episodes ago (caught up the past couple days. 1 to go). Everyone from the Kingdom was killed by the gun except for the 3 characters who had speaking parts. What's the point of putting characters in peril when you know they're going to be okay?

I think the main reason we are sticking around with this is because we have watched now for so long, it must be 100 hours of it or more. Ok it was great at the start but it's one show I'd never watch again and it has become a chore to watch episodes. I know it feels wasted watching so much and then just stopping but the way it's going this show could go for another 5 seasons and im dreading another 5 seasons of this. Im just cutting it off now and when the time comes when it all ends, I'll Google it to see what happened. It's time to leave a show when all your looking forward to is it ending for good . That's not good, all the best shows I've loved I didn't want to see end and was gutted when they did end. This is not one of them, not by a long shot. And it's a pity because it could of been great but filler episodes almost turned into season fillers.

    I'm done.

I've been borderline hate-watching this for maybe the last season or so but this current series is just offensively bad imho.

Maybe it's because I've been losing interest and not fully tuned in but I genuinely can't follow this season at all at all....just seems to be lots of people running around killing each other for no apparent reason.

The final straw was in the episode I watched last night - Carl and some random fella are in a forest and get 'attacked' by zombies. Carl is on his back in a deer carcass wrestling a zombie and there's another zombie literally lying on his legs but it somehow neglects to bite him anywhere....even the fcuking zombies can't be arsed anymore ffs :pac::pac::pac:

I'll let it tape away just in case it literally comes back from the dead but I can see myself in a few months trying to clear out space on the SkyBox and hitting the Delete All button.

I haven't watched it since about 2 years ago was it? When you saw Glen getting swarmed by zombies. You knew he wasn't dead and knew that he was going to come back right at the end and then, as usual, nothing happened for weeks and then he popped up. Actually, I didn't even get to the end of that season.

As I;m sure so many people have said, the problem I have with it is pacing: First episode of a season, great. 2nd episode, great. Then...... wasteland.... then last episode, great. Just.... Just not worth my time really anymore.

I was about to delete the last 3 episodes that I had recorded but decided to watch them on fast forward to see if anything exciting looks like it's about to happen. I missed nothing doing so. I think that's it for me with the show now.

Well I followed through on my thoughts. Had this season so far recorded, stuck the first few minutes of the first on. Nah, can't do it so deleted them all and I'm out.

I went through this season after letting it build up to watch with the misses.

We are big fans, we caught the show from the first night the first episode went up online from the states and we have been massive fans every since. When people waned during the farm season we still loved it, when the Governor and prison dragged on we still loved it and we just were constantly engrossed.

I noticed friends and other people getting some exhaustion last season, but we still enjoyed it. This season though wow. It's like the show is actively trying to get itself cancelled.

I think it's an absolute disgrace from AMC to air it in the state it is in visually, a real two fingers to fans who have been with the show for eight years. I can't find online any articles or reasoning why the budget has been absolutely slashed this season, but if this appeared on the SciFi channel I'd turn it off. It's literally looking like something like Sharknado.

I'm a bit of a firearms enthusiast, so it's not obvious for everyone, but this season from the get go I was being ripped out of any engagement from the change they made on this front. The entire show has operated with blank firing firearms that have been realistic, and this season they have moved to casted firearms and basically airsoft toys.

There is no shell ejection from rifles
There is no slide movement on pistols
They didn't even bother their hole putting in CGI muzzle flash on loads of instances
There is clearly no recoil from any firearm
There is rifles operating or firing in impossible functions to the real world equiavalant.
The fire and explosion effects from the final episode is genuinely laughable.

I know this is a bit anal, but its something that pulls me straight out of a show. And for a show that was actually so realistic when it came to firearms for many years, this is such a noticeable and rubbish change. I can't find any reason for it online.

There is no longer any blood splatter from either people or walkers being shot or butchered.
There is cute camera tricks and cinematography tricks being deployed to no longer show gore or people being actually biten or eaten.

I don't know what caused this change, I don't know what initated the budget cut, but the show is an embarrassment at this stage, and it's no wonder the only articles I can find are viewing numbers steadily plumetting episode to episode on Season 8.

MY GF, die hard fan, who even still after finishing last night was getting angry with me for trash talking it, was even saying "ok the gun stuff, I'm with you know, that's ridiculous"

IF the budget was trashed, they should have got more creative to not embarrass themselves. The I guess big "reveal" in the last episode fell so flat with me because I am so annoyed at this season, where for an 8 year fan, it should have been the most impactful of all the stuff that's happened for someone like me

To be honest it's becoming evident to me the show will be cancelled shortly. You don't get that sort of budget cut and survive. I can't work out why obviously spotting this when they got their budget allocation ahead of season 8, they didn't condense the season into a shorter run, and wrap it up, with some quality and actual homage to the fans.

The firearms aspect is something that leapt off the screen to me immediately as well and something I raised when discussing the first few episodes - and only because it looked so awful, tacky and cheap - I'm not firearms expert!

I was surprised that it wasn't mentioned more actually.
Acting...direction....action choreography...scripting....all like something you'd see on Movies4Men at 2pm on a Sunday in a straight to VHS production.

I mean...even right down to the weapons. In previous seasons they were firing blanks. In the current season they're basic props with post production muzzle flashes and smoke - you can even blatantly see a mix of the actors over-compensating for imagined recoil, and in other cases zero recoil, and it looks pantomime.

Go back to the scene where Rick's firing down the hallway and the fake recoil is beyond cringe. He looks like Barry Burton firing the Magnum in the first Resident Evil.

haha yeah. I'm not an expert either, just an enthusiast. Have a big interest and always have. So I really give props to stuff on TV that is accurate in both the operation and function along with the training the actors do and their movements. You can really appreciate it.

There was a gunfight between Carol and a few Saviours, when the king was at the gate with a horde coming at him.

Apart from the obvious issue of it being like Commando and no one feeling the need to reload ( One Saviour with a rifle that contains 20 rounds in the clip, was firing what would equate to about 200+ rounds) you also had a guy using a modern M14 rifle, which is a semi automatic rifle alright, but it was firing like an uzi, and again with only 20 rounds meant in the clip, he was firing about 300+ rounds before the camera switched :D

Just laughable like. And it was so accurate, for so long, with the actors going through proper firearms drills, training and manoeuvres. I just don't get it.

I spotted a Kingdom person at one point with a bolt action rifle, where the bolt was actually removed.....

I think it's huge news that Gimple has been replaced as showrunner. I wouldn't be hugely surprised or disappointed if the new showrunner tried to walk-back the Carl bite thing in all honesty.

I feel bad for the people who voted saying its still brilliant. Must have never seen any other tv show before

I would probably have been considered a die hard fan a while back. I loveddd season one and two, thought they were fantastic. I recall myself defending the show fiercely during the farm arc and the prison arc which I thought were still great. I don't even know what season it is right now, in my mind I can scarcely think of any important event or character introduction or development to distinguish any season or episode apart from one another since like the start of alexandria.
Its just shockingly shockingly bad in every regard, its by far and away the worst 'popular' show on tv and I doubt theres any other show on television that observed such a drastic reduction in quality in terms of effects, direction, setting, script, plot and acting all at once

The last two episodes have had about 4-5 million less viewers than the average episode even just last season and I guess that sums it up

I gave up just 3 episodes before the first half of this season ended. I havent missed it.

I thought I would but it feels like a chore to go through now.

I should not have to feel that way watching this. I used to love TWD.

Now I cant stick it. It's just boring.

To me the show has been downgraded to background viewing while I'm doing other things where as before I would turn off everything shut curtains and focus on the show only.

I watched the recent episode while cleaning around

Stopped watching after episode 9 of this series. It's far too drawn out and splitting each series in two makes it worse.

Haven't watched an episode since Honour.... any sign that it's improved since?

I don't know what episode honour was but the last 3-4 episodes have been a lot better recently but still pretty poor and patchy in quality

don't record it anymore, haven't watched a full episode since it came back. They should just kill it off/wrap it up and be done with it before the ratings drop so low it'll be pulled from AMC anyway.

I loved the show but its gotten tiresome, repetitive and boring and the last few seasons have been awful but I kept watching in the belief that it'll get better...it got worse . . .

Same for me. This show is so bad, I wouldn't even be bothered illegally downloading it. Perhaps that was the plan all along. Combat online piracy by making everything so terrible that the pirates are even bothered anymore :pac:

Maybe I've bought into the PR spin but it sounds like he got a promotion rather than ditched.

Tried to watch an episode of the current series the other day and there was too much Carl in it so i couldn't watch it :/:) Even though he was only a kid, i always thought he was badly cast as Rick's son.

I think it's just run it course. What interested me at the start was the apocalypse. You relate to the shock of the characters because you can picture yourself in that situation but now thats sunk in, it's well into post apocalypse. Despite the writer's trying, not much is shocking anymore which was what the show heavily relied on.

I watched up to the mid-season break. I have all the new episodes recorded, but I just can't be bothered watching anymore.

The mid-season break just did it for me, okay, it was supposed to be night-time, but I couldn't make anything out! Plus, it is getting harder and harder to make out the dialogue as it seems they are all whispering.

The thoughts of watching all the episodes that are recorded actually fills me with dread.

Just stick to watching short recaps. That should do.

I must be the only one who enjoys how slow the show is. Its a completely different take on the zombie agenda where a cure is found and everyone is saved or they kill all the zombies. The walkers are a constant threat, yet the real danger is humans and societies regression. I have no idea where the story will go because its not something you can simply wrap up, there is no clean ending to a story such as this.

I didnt give up on it just due to the slowness although that was possibly a small factor...

I had a number of reasons

when there was any set pieces (which seem to come at end of season break) they were generally horribly done - e.g. seemingly hundreds of bullets being fired with no one getting hit

the characters motivations are also all over the place and seem to change at the drop of a hat.

    The garbage people.....are garbage.

I care about very few of the characters left on the show anymore.

Negan is IMO a really bad panto villain, the governor was much more layered and interesting.

I think they need to move on from the war with Negan asap but at this stage I think its too late to save the show given the absolute nose dive in ratings (and IMO quality). I have been there from season 1 but I am done now I am afraid.
