Tried their chat service there now, poor grammar and spelling, they said they had no offers at the minute.

The Sky offer mentioned earlier is for their Affinity scheme and you have to call them to order it. Does anyone know do you have to have an affinity code?

Phone Loyalty twice, first offer was 3 months half price, said no.
Rang back again, 6 months at 40 then 6 months at 55 so took that.
Actually paying less that what I'm paying at present.
    Went for paper billing too

I just got half price for 9 months on a 12 month contract with very little arguing. I rang 1908 and pressed 1 to query the contract change and was put through to an English woman. Told her I wasn't happy about the increase and would cancel if they couldn't do something for me. She started off by saying that they'd waive the increase for six months, and I said I have to stop you there, I can get Sky Broadband and TV for €50 per month on a 12 month contract on their Affinity scheme and I switch if they couldn't come close to that. She went off and came back a few minutes later with the nine months half price offer. (€48 per month rising to €96 for last three months). Easiest and best discount I've ever had from them.

Just got off the live chat with them a minute ago. Was on Tv (50 channels), phone and 240 BB at 80 pm rising to 85 Jan 1st. The best they could offer was 6 months half price 6 months full price (755 per year), mentioned that Sky had some pretty good deals they offered me an upgraded tv package 100 channels inc. HD channels, free phone calls including mobiles and 240 BB for 47 pm for 9 months and 94 pm for final 3 months. This works out at 705 for the year. I was happy to accept.

Maybe go back to them again, could depend on who you get chatting to!!

I signed up to the Phone, internet and TV package for €50 in June, I haven't received any email so I'm assuming my package is staying the same price as it was a deal at the time, but haven't heard anything about the €3.50 self discount from them either?

Just after been offered half price €29.50 for 6 mths and full price €59 for 6 mths for BB and phone. I've rang 3 times to loyalty 061 272190 to get this.

Didn't accept yet because total with Virgin is €530 vs €430 with Eir fibre (12mth x €40 - €50 cashabck)

Keep at them, it took me four calls. They had offered me the exact same as you but I eventually got 23.24 x 2 months, 28.24 x 4 months and 53.50 for 6 months.. €480 total. I was happy enough with that, works out €40 a month overall and it was an unknown going with Eir

I got the 29.50 for six months followed by 59 for 6 months on 12 month contract 240MB broadband and anytime bundle. I had signed up last year for 360MB BB/Phone and Anytime bundle originally on 6 month half price deal 30/60. Had to ring loyalty dept twice and On second call just basically said, don't need 360 and they offered to put on 240mb so I said thats fine but if you can't do half price for 6 months I'm off. That swung it. Was warned this will be my last time. I told him I'd be in touch in 11 months and we can do the dance again. :D I rang twice on the 061-272190 number.

I was on the phone and 240meg. The best they would do was 15 off for 6 months, so 40 x 6 and the back up to the new 55. So, I quit, gave them my notice, and they took it...

I'm currently looking to jump from VM if I can't repeat my current plan of 6 months half-price and 6 months full-price for broadband and phone. When comparing to Eir - do their prices include the monthly line rental charge?

I'd negotiated a fresh deal before they announced the removal of self service discount... so am trying to re-negotiate using the black friday offer and get sky sports for €6 a mth for 6 mths (HD)... for second 6 mths would be €139 a mth.

Edit: they tell me black friday deal not open to existing customers #ridiculous

    Bit of both,
I had canceled ten days ago over the phone and had been trying to get the "loyalty" team on the chat.
It wasnt until i said i wanted to sign up for the naked bb that they put me on to them.
    An hours wait .
then they wanted 30e to "activate" the naked bb.
I told them no and she actually offered the 9 months!
    I've gotten 6 months 1/2 price the last 2 years .:D

I can only get 4mb from eir. So Virgin would have that information and use that as an angle not to reduce the price. The broadband is the most important for me, has anyone caught with that when ringing and what did ye say to get around it?

    Any suggestions for alternatives
Im currently paying 49 pm for 100 mb bb, tv & phone. to go up to 52.50
Is there an alternative supplier if they dont offer a deal.

All these people posting about the 100Mb packages with eir et al - that is the max and most people get nowhere near that, think more like 10mb
So don't be deluded into thinking that you will be getting 100mb

    Finally.

Just off phone from 061 number. Got half price for 6 months 240/phone. 29.50 for 6 then 59 for 6,.

Initially offered 10 off for 6 months and full price, rejected. Then offered 15 off for 16 months and full thereafter -asked to confirm cancelation procedure. Told by VM customer care would check with supervisor and got the deal.

Two weeks to get this far.

I have a VM rep on chat trying to tell me that I can't cancel right away....that I have to give 30 days notice, even though the email says I can cancel at any time without penalty, or fees.

Got offered a lovely 6 months offer of 6 euros off my bill of 70 a month for 6 months and then up to 80 after ?.

Stop no discount when you work it out facepalm.

She is gone to a supervisor now Let's see can she offer better.

OK Update got 9 months at 50% and 3 months full price saved about 180 euros for the year.

Said loads of my friends for 9 months 1/2 price ;) ha.

28 min call and I saved myself 180 euros how bad.

God I'm fuming just rang told the guy I was going to cancel my account because I wasn't offered any decent deal he said that he can prob def get me nine months half price but wanted to be sure and that he would just check with supervisor then comes back with no sorry I can't and didn't even offer another deal seriously wtf did he say it in the first place , I just cancelled all accounts , that's the loyalty you get after been with them nearly ten years , I also cancelled the two mobile accounts I had with them , it really does depend on who you get on the day

Just onto them. Im currently paying 49 and they wanted to give me a deal at 54 for 6 months and then increasing to whatever.
When i told him im already paying less, he tried telling me i'm on a deal at the moment with 36 euro off per month.
He didn't quiet get that i was never paying any more than 49 so i was getting nothing off anything and all i saw was an increase.
sky called me earlier in the week so ill have a chat with them....after calling VM back again later :)

Had recently cancelled (due to finish 10th Dec) and after few days of cancelling luckily checked because they had no record of it .Asked yesterday for email confirmation .
Got call today to ask me to stay .I stopped him and said I wouldn’t accept anything less than 9mths and quoted Eir and told him I wasn’t worried about speeds. He’s sof no problem I’ll give you 9mths .1 min later comes back and says so that 6 mths will be at ?? I said no you said 9mths he said I can’t give you 9mths only 6. I said I won’t budge and will switch to Eir.He said ok sorry
2mins later he rings me back to say good news I can give you 9mths and it will €29.50 per month .I said no half of what I’m paying with increase will be €27.50 .i Told him I look forward to speaking with him next year he started laughing .
    They really are chancers .
My advice stay firm and you’ll get 9mths (this is my 3rd year in row

The Best Deal I ever got with them was 3 years ago. Got sky sports, Movies, TV and 120MB I think it was 47.50 a month. Had this in a student apartment it was epic.

When people where over they used to be in shock when they were flicking and seen that I had everything going no idea how they gave that good of a deal or the fact how much their prices have gone up in nearly 4 years ......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,778 ✭✭✭goz83

I dropped the TV from the bundle and stuck with phone and BB. I dropped from 360 to 240 speed. 6 months half price....6 months full price.

I called them and they just cancelled it, no deals... should I call again or wait for them to call me? I got email: sorry you are leaving etc.
Any advice how to talk to them better?
