What have you got against Sweetnam? I think he's done well in both games.

He has and Conway has too. When Earls comes back I figure Conway is the natural one to stay in the 23 so I would give him the game time.
So, as I said earlier, with Keith back, it could mean it's Kearney who isn't in the 23?

Has carter already agreed a deal in japan though?

I thought I'd heard that too and think it's most likely but wouldn't be surprised with Bristol swooping in with big money

It wont though. Kearney is very much part of the coach's plans. What part of that do you find difficult to understand

And back my earlier question. Why did you choose 33 as the cut off age and not 34?

Carbery could join Ulster on a 2 year deal and then Jackson could be back in a few months and then he'd find himself in the same situation he is in at Leinster, only Jackson would play more often for Ulster than Sexton does for Leinster AND he'd be second choice at a province that wasn't his own.

I'd love to have him but there isn't a mission he will come to Ulster

Ross Byrne is a far more realistic target IMO...but even he is getting loads of gametime at Leinster.

Because his missus has a photo of Rob Kearney stuck to the fridge door. :D

He's starting every week kicking his points don't know too much other then that. Whispers pat lam is looking at dan carter too

I would be a bit surprised if Carter is happy to sit on the bench behind Madigan at this stage of his career

Hooker isnt great but it isn't bad either
Beat, Scannell, Cronin, Herring, Tracy, Heffernan, McCartney, Marshall (Still to qualify). We have a lot of players with no real stand out. Scannell is the one I think we would hope stay healthy.

The 6n is the IRFU main cash cow. They budget for top 3. France spent years making 4/5/6 changes every week and they are a rabble now. The 6n is most definitely not where we build our squad for a RWC. If it was that simple all 6 sides would be making multiple changes (by choice) from game to game.

Tadgh McElroy made his debut for Saracens recently. Looked good when he was in the u-20s. Hopefully he could be brought back in the future

ended bitterly, a lot of making up to be done there.

Marshall will almost certainly play for Ireland, unfortunately.

    James Ryan practiced today anyway.

So it's generally agreed that Healy now has the edge over Mcgrath for the starting spot?

Healy appears to be in better form, we don't know if McGrath has a bit of an injury hangover. Joe will know more from training pick the player in the better condition to start.

Healy was a man possessed coming off the bench against Fiji after a very good game against SA. He's earned the start this weekend, then we'll see how we're fixed in February.

Looks like everyone or nearly everyone has been retained in camp for the time being. Might get a few guys released this evening.

Healy had a nice handy summer. McGrath got flogged for the summer. I expect he needs a bit of TLC and get back firing again. It is great to see Healy back firing on all cylinders but dont expect McGrath just to wait in wings....

We will see what happens come 6 nations

Wisest thing I have read in here in weeks.

People on the internet have a strange impression that they know more based on limited match footage than a man who has a team of people with strength and fitness numbers and a hell of a lot more relevant stats than metres made and tackles missed :pac:

The stuff Kitman labs produce is supposed to be unreal. Literally able to predict when players are likely to get injured and specify what percentage effort they can expend without getting injured.

It is amazing to see, you don't even need to know what the data means to see it and realise how impressive it is. Its even better that theyre an Irish company and are a world leader in the area, Irish rugby is actually miles ahead of most other sports in the area of injury prevention and performance enhancement almost purely down to them which is great to see.

Why? If Earls brings the "experience", the "team building" you asked for? Keith can very well do that doesn't he?

Why do you continually ask questions you already know the answer to?

Just take the team for what it is.

Everyone wants Marmion to be dropped, then? I kinda agree I have to admit :(
If so, hope he'll be released for Connacht at least, for this WE decisve game. And rested the week after...

    Why?

This is such a bizarre question to ask on an internet forum. Go ask Joe Schmidt.

Kearney is going to be picked at 15 this weekend, be prepared.

I don't. Why Earls isn't enough "experience" to help Sweetnam/Conway to develop this back-3 around him?

    I'm already depressed, indeed.

Yes, with Conway/Stockdale FB, Sweetnam/Stockdale on the other wing

I think there's a reasonable chance Conway could be picked at 15 if he's fully fit

Distinct lack of blue in the picture you're painting.

Ok i cant answer for Joe but .. guesswork incoming .....

    1. Joe is trying to develop options. Especially wing and centre options right now. He also has the added bonus of Conway being able to do a very good job at 15.

    2. Joe likes what Kearney brings right now over other options at 15. It also allows a bit more latitude with selections and to have a 15 who can direct them around. Not just the two wings but also the new centre (Aki).

    3. Joe can name Kearney or Conway at 15 this weekend and I will be happy with either.

    4. Joe spoke prior to SA game about the 38 man squad selection. He wanted to reward form (Herring, Conway, Healy, Ruddock, Stockdale in particular standout for me). He also acknowledged some selections were made on the basis of what these guys bring (Kearney x2) because we cant develop depth in 15 positions at once.

    5. It is not possible to name a 38 man squad of inform players. It just will not happen. There will be some selections based on continuity

    6. You keep saying earls brings the experience. He is injured right now. Kearney is not in the team for experienced purposes. He brings other things the coach wants for this team from 15 which is also why he is likely to play this weekend. And they are also why he was picked v SA.

    7. How many new caps do you think we can throw in all at once. Our 11 to 15 v Argentina is likely to be the same as the SA game. Three of that 5 will have under 10 caps combined. Thats team building? Or do you just want Kearney out and it doesn't matter how?

Like what part of that can you not understand. It isnt difficult really.

It's hard to help your fellow wing because you're on the other side of the pitch. So the player a wing will have most regular in field contact with is the full back. He can see the entirely of the game in front of him and tell his wingers where to position themselves. You can't see it on TV but Kearney is always barking instructions to his 11 and 14. Having someone with the experience of Kearney is a huge asset to inexperienced wings.
