whether it's a result or not isn't in dispute. what is being told is that the likes of the groups involved in this cannot be trusted. that is a fact, and one which i stand by.

    he's not wrong though.

Maybe you should contact his solicitor so you can crack the accusations then?

I don't understand the backlash against these so called vigilante groups. While they do appear to be slightly disgusting people in their manner and speech patterns, there's no doubt that these kind of well publicised stings serve as an example to evil people who may wish to commit these kinds of crimes. The police can only devote a limited amount of time to any particular area, so if the public can help out in clear cut cases like this I can only wish them luck.

There was a 30yr old man found not guilty in a french court recently after being accused of raping an 11yr old girl 8yrs ago... she had a child from the rape. He simply asked her in a park to undress and lay down and rapped her...in the verdict there was no mention made of her age, instead the judge pointed out that the defense was unable to prove she didnt consent and as violence or threats were not proven either the man was released...

Im all for these stings if it can prevent situations like the above...

My view on vigilantes has always been the same - if law enforcement did their jobs then there wouldn't be any need for them. Why weren't the cops the ones operating the decoy minor profiles? Why does it fall to civilians to catch these f*ckers?

These people are no more "vigilantes" than your local neighbourhood watch group.

They are just pro active concerned citizens.

It's not so much the constant and frequently unqualified criticism of such groups - it's more that out of this sorry debacle some see this as a more important issue than that of an Individual who was caught in the act of attempting to meet up with 13 year old girl. The same individual who posted pictures of his willy to the girl's online profile. The same individual who used a fake online profile and had 'befriended' scores of other young girls.

Been hearing stories of issues he had when he was a teenager himself.

Back then he fancied much older women.

Would love to give the first hand stories - they are very funny, but can't

Even the British tabloids like The Sun (who you would think might be somewhat sympathetic to them) refer to them as "vigilantes" and "vigilante groups". Not sure anyone is buying the concerned citizens angle.

not true i'm afraid. there is no evidence what soever to state that these type of actions have any effect on such criminality. in fact, there is evidence to say that it drives such individuals underground, which is very dangerous and concerning.

these groups aren't needed full stop. the police not being able to do enough doesn't justify these groups existing. these groups have chosen to get involved in this for the attention.

Time and resources would be my guess..

10 'vigilantes are probably happy to do shifts fishing with the fake profiles on their own time without getting paid... now imagine asking cops to do the same... id say theres overtime pay and working hours issues....

I'd be against entrapment in most forms but when used to catch potential predators such as him it's a very good method and I'm all for it.

It isnt Entrapment as the lads pretending to be the underage kid will NEVER be the ones to bring up the subject of meeting up in person.
They wait to see if the pervert tries to bring up the subject and they give them enough rope to hang themselves.
Entrapment would happen if the decoy brought up the subject of meeting up in person and coerced them to meet up.
This guys ****ed from every angle.

The cops certainly do operate decoy's and carry out stings. You just never hear about it cos

    A) They don't live stream the shit out of it for the likes

    and

    B) The perps they catch in these stings are typically not high profile people.

I'm assuming his phone is taken as evidence and possibly laptop by now, but since he's out on bail couldn't he access his Facebook from a web cafe or other computer?

Or can police actually take over his personal Facebook page as evidence also?

The fake one "Jimi Cee" was removed a while ago.

It was creepy AF, a middle aged man and all his friends were young teens.

It's interesting that in his own original Facebook page, his friends have gone from 140 to 67 in just a day, but the number of followers has increased a lot

Eotr does not like anti paedophile groups...(suprise!)

Just to counter what was said above

Despite historic reluctance by the police to engage with these groups ...
...the BBC revealed that 44% of prosecutions in 2016 for the crime of meeting a child after sexual grooming in England, Wales and Northern Ireland used vigilante evidence - up from 11% in 2011.

Chief Constable Simon Bailey, who works as the national lead for child protection, admitted, “I think [working with them]'s something we're going to have to potentially have to look at, yes, but it comes with some real complexity."

Like it or not it would appear that these groups are making some signifiant impacts with regard to the collection and use of evidence in relevant court cases

Everything on his Facebook seems sinister now.

He was at a Strypes gig in the Academy, would teenage girls go to that?

He's holidayed in Cambodia, Viet Nam, Cuba. Is that for underage hookers?

He filmed a young girl dancing on Moore st. :-(

    Everything looks creepy.

Why didn't he just run? They can't imprison him.

Or cover his face and say no comment

It’s kind of like the Fight or flight thing, except they usually stay and try bullshît their way out of it if you watch the other videos. The guys are always the same

At the start this guy tried it for a second, he said something like he doesn’t have kids and he really wants to be a father so he just wanted to be a father figure to her

I cannot for the life of me understand why some people have issues with these anti paedo groups. If you are not a dirty paedo then what do you have to worry about?

I think these groups are doing us a great service in catching out the human scum of this world.

I’ve often seen comments on YouTube defending them, did not think I would see that here! Shocking really

and as asked earlier in the thread, why would these 10 random people be happy to go out of their way to pretend to be a child exactly? at least in the police's case they get paid for it and it's part of their job description, but what person would want to go out of their way to pretend to be a child, especially for free? if i'm honest it's actually disturbing that someone would be happy to do that. whatever about it being part of the job and being paid for it.

Chief Constable Simon Bailey realised that it may be better to work with these groups to keep them on side and insure his staff can do their job without trouble. i completely understand his point of view. these so-called "anti paedophile" groupps ultimately care about 1 thing and it's not being anti paedophile.

Personally, I've no problem with them as long as they don't use entrapment and don't get envolved themselves physically - just take the evidence to the police.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The police "not being able" to do enough? One person could easily operate 50 sock puppet Facebook accounts from behind a desk - they were happy to do this against groups like Occupy and Anonymous. They're perfectly capable, they just don't bother.

Vigilantes trap a fella who has planned to meet up with a 13 year old. Naughty vigilantes. If they're wrong, they're wrong, it'll come out in the wash. If they're right, look at what they've caught! But don't focus on that....focus on those naughty vigilantes

The woman is stating her opinion on the topic, I for one don't believe she intended for it to be sexist sweeping statement but rather a reflection of a very topical subject that is coming to light lately in the news.

The amount of male predators of young men and women in positions of power who have been highlighted in the media is alarming.

I for one support Spanish Eyes and guess what I am female.

Let's just get rid of the police then completely in that case.
