Best I could get on BB/TV/Phone was half price for 3 months and full price for 9 months. So told them to go ahead and cancel thinking they would come back with something better. Took my cancellation over the phone and said my services would cease in 30 days time and I have gotten an email confirming this. Has anyone been in a similar situation before where Virgin have then come back with a better offer before the cancellation kicks in. Im wondering whether to contact them and accept their original offer prior to cancellation. Any ideas ??

I did this last year, there loyalty dept called me after I received the cancellation email and offered me a deal which i took later.

How long was it from the cancellation email before the loyalty dept rang you.

Yep, starting next billing period I was told the new discount will kick in. Was almost taking the 59pm broadband/phone so ended up getting keeping the tv for €57 for the year..
Are you sure we are talking about same package?
    TV, broadband and phone?

I got below back from them
€47 per month for first 6 months and €94 per month for last 6 months.

Any other offers you may have seen or heard about are not taking into account the price increase. The prices given to you are correct.

The guy that I spoke to now was the height of rudeness. I have been a customer for 10+ years, I don't want a horizon box and after him slating me for not wanting an upgrade or a new box. He then proceeded to slag off Eir/Magnet/Sky and the rest.

They offered me 6 months halfprice but I still wasn't happy.

I think it's absolutely crazy to be paying nearly 90 euro a month. I may have to just bin the TV as I don't use it enough. I may just opt to watch the one or two shows that I currently record live via the RTE website or via the RTE player.

Yeah I am talking about the tv, broadband and phone package - the 240mb broadband though, perhaps you are paying the extra for the 360mb??

I have given up trying to talk to CS over the phone and just use their online chat as then I have a log of everything and they are generally fairly nice on it.

I'm currently on the BB & Telephone package, paying €49.98 a month, the new price increase will bring my bill up to 54.99 a month. I rang loyalty and all they offered me was €5 off for 6 months. They wouldn't budge on it. I used all the tactics in the books. I have never been offered 6 months half price by them so I certainly didn't use up too much special offers. I laughed him off the phone at how pathetic an attempt that was and activated my 30 day cancellation. I received my cancellation via email a few minutes ago. I'm done with VM. I'll contact SKY today for a new sign up offer.

I'm on same deal at the minute. I'll be asking them to match Naked broadband new customer offer - €44 for 6 months, €54 beyond that. If they don't I'll cancel.

It actually works out cheaper over 12 months. Would save €12.

i am on bb and phone. at 49.99. new price would be 55.
rang them and first guy said good luck and ready to cancel..
rang back in few minutes and the lady offered 5euro discount for 6 months.
quietly took it as i cant go back to eir or sky..

Talked to a fella on the online chat, said that I was moving to eir. He said eir might change their prices, I said well I'll change provider then if it's not the best deal. That was it, he gave me the 1908 number to cancel.

Gonna go ahead with that eir deal I reckon for just broadband.

Great post, fair play for doing the groundwork for many here. That sky offering is very attractive, particularly with the Q included. It's worlds ahead of that brutal Horizon thing.

Is there a set up charge for sky and eir?
I imagine you still need a dish for sky?Its been years since I've been with them.

So it's basically the same deal except costs an extra €216 for the year but
comes with a brand new boxed 32" LG tv which could be easily sold on Adverts for
    approx €200 :D

Attempted to switch to Sky last year when VM were pulling similar shenanigans with price increases. Sky were also doing a TV deal at the time. Told them I didn't want a new TV, and they offered me a lower monthly subscription instead.

    Cancelled VM for this deal.

In the end someone from VM rang me within my Sky cooling off period and offered me 12 months half price. 42.50 for TV, BB and phone.

That 12 month period ends in early December.

Time to go through the motions again, although this time am not optimistic about getting 12 months half price!

I had a right week with sky after my cancelation..

First of all,, sky offered me 30 euro credit, and free installation and free 1tb box and free 32 inch tv.

then a different guy offered me half price TV, but charge 25 for installation, free box, free 32 inch tv..

Then a third guy said "ah no they shouldn't be doing that" and said because I was a customer in the last 12 months, they can only offer me half price TV only, but had to charge 130 for the box and 25 for installation and no free 32 inch TV

I told him no way,, I asked him why was I being rode because I was already a customer in the last 12 months, sure ill just get the wife to sign up, get it for 20 euro cheaper, the box half price, and a free tv.. and he tries to tell me I cant because I was a customer..

When I tried to tell him the difference between a man and a woman, he got confused.

Just after been offered half price €29.50 for 6 mths and full price €59 for 6 mths for BB and phone. I've rang 3 times to loyalty 061 272190 to get this.

Didn't accept yet because total with Virgin is €530 vs €430 with Eir fibre (12mth x €40 - €50 cashabck)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,220 ✭✭✭maximoose

Would be tempted to switch but Eir/Sky can only offer me pathetic broadband speeds.. would virgin be privy to this? :pac:
