Just read the older sister Linda is to be released next month. 12 years ago it happened, didn't think it was that long ago. I can remember the shock about this case, a chopped up body in the canal. Never had much sympathy for the victim is was a dangerous predator by all accounts.

I think this was mostly shocking because of the brutality of it. Not only was it savage and callous, but it was two women who did it.

Didn't the guy rape a Chinese girl with special needs. Shouldn't even have been out.

He also lied about which country he was from but they let him stay because he had fathered children by the time it was uncovered.

People show a lot of support for the scissor sisters. If men killed a woman who abused their vulnerable father would they have sympathy? Doubt it.

Dochas centre is like a travellodge. The men’s prison is a hovel in comparison.

Yep, here's the low down on him.

Farah Swaleh Noor was 38 years old at the time of his death. He arrived in Ireland in December 1996, claiming to be a Somalian called Sheilila Salim whose family had been killed in Mogadishu. Gardaí described him as being particularly violent towards women. Noor was a suspect in the unsolved murder of Raonaid Murray which took place in September 1999. Authorities are now satisfied Noor did not carry out this murder.

True, my brother had reason to visit both for his work and whilst the mens prison is OTT on luxuries, eg PS4, Sky sports etc, the Dochas centre was a joke. One of the prisoners he spoke to told him that she loved living there because it was so nice in comparison to the flats she came from and the hostels they get sent to on release from prison.

That pisses me off. Most female prisoners can attend colleges and do full bachelor degrees and have the keys for their own rooms and can leave the building as they please.

Women prisoners have more opportunities to turn their lives around when in prison. Men are denied this. This leads to higher recidivism for men.

Men have to **** in a bucket in the room on front of other men.

Women have private toilets.

Men have cold water showers and the showers are communal.

Male prisoners get inferior food. Women prisoners have a menu and the food budgets for dochas centre is multiples of men’s prison.

Agree with the point on woman in prison's.As for the men.. good prison was never meant to be a holiday camp.

As someone who was in both Juvenile detention centres and care homes in the 1990's/2000's i can say they are a holiday camp.

The detention centre in Dublin was better than the quality of life i had at home.

If the womens prison was worse than the mens, you'd have the NWCI complaining. Why aren't women forced into the same conditions as men?

I'm a man, and I've never experienced any of that.

If you’re going to be pissed off about something at least make sure it’s correct.

I remember The Phoenix magazine caused a bit of a stir when they had a photo of the two sisters on the front page and the caption: "Sorry, I just lost the head" (or words to that effect).
