Spacey made a statement though and did not strenuously deny the allegation. It was bizarre. Anyone falsely accused of what he was accused of would be much more animated 99% of the time. His statement was odd and had an air “Yeah, I could totally see myself doing that” about it. You say he didn’t deny it - if innocent, why the hell would you not?

I agree it is odd but he still didn’t confirm it happened, blaming alcohol. (Not that it’s an acceptable excuse). It would still require an investigation unless Spacey pleaded guilt.

That’s the foundation of democracy. Innocent until proven guilty.

This topic comes up regularly over the years. I often wonder about our very own Padraig Pearse and what would happen if information was unearthed that confirmed suspicions that some talk about him.

why, whats this about ol'Padraig ?

I had two Lostprophets CDs and I burned them (as in set fire to them) when the news about Ian Watkins came out a few years ago. I haven't listened to The Who in years because I don't really buy that story about Pete Townshend looking at child porn for 'research'.

I do enjoy the music of Charles Manson. I think if you played one of his songs to someone and didn't tell the who he was they'd think he was great.

I can look past most things but abusing children just seems particularly evil. For instance I can't imagine ever listening to Lostprophets without the image of the sick fucker attempting to rape a one year old baby entering my head.

I know next to nothing about actors or directors.

Just re-watched American Beauty for the 100th time. Not one single actor could play Spacey's role the way he did. A true legend.

    John malkovich

Two hugely overrated mediocrities who's only trick is to talk. slowly. with. weird. punctuation.

    He's fantastic.

To be fair The Who are a lot better and it's a bigger loss not to listen to their music. And I don't think anyone will ever be able to say exactly what Pete Townshend was up to on the computer. He may have been telling the truth about researching a book but I find it extremely unlikely.

I have a bridge for sale.

One person I find hard to watch is Mark Wahlberg. In his youth he was behind several racist attacks on African-Americans and Asians. He left a Vietnamese man blind in one eye during one attack.

In anotherhe chased black children down the street, hurling rocks and racial epithets, including “Kill the n
s!” until an ambulance driver intervened.

    People can change.

Well that's the question of the thread. Do you say that for Roman Polanski?

Besides that he's also a terrible actor. Stop watching his nonsense films.

I was thinking about this today and I really liked spacey in American beauty. And really loved the film. But the movie seems somewhat tainted now.

Sure... if someone denies something. Coming out with an ambiguous statement changes things unfortunately. You can’t stop people wondering then. It’s not always innocent until proven guilty because people don’t always plead innocence.

They got a dig in at him on Gavin and Stacy when the character Nessa said "I used to drive the sets for The Who on their world tours. Great days. Till I found out some things about Pete Townshend that I didn't like. And all I'll say is - and I said it to his face - where is the book?"

where are people drawing the line here? accusations/convictions/hearsay? and what crime?

personally, i can separate them (nothing to separate in this instance as innocent till proven guilty and all that) and am sad HOC will be no more.

While it certainly is a concerning and bizarre response by him, it’s still not a confirmation by him. I’m not sure how the police are treating Rapp’s statement. I hope it’s being investigated but I suspect it’s not. Which is also concerning. Rapp has gone public but if no formal complaint has been made to the police then no crime is being investigated in the US. The only investigation being carried out is a sexual assault claim in London AFAIK.

I could be wrong about the pedophilia claim but I’ve seen no media articles confirming it. Surely the police would want to investigate such a serious allegation?

My 50 year old husband just told me quite normally that he has decided that he is no longer going to engage in any way shape or form with any of the females in his work place, and he intends to be very very careful about how he intersects with any females at all outside of our own immediate circle.
He’s very gregarious and a tactile touchy-feely kind of guy so it’s quite sad.
Most of the ladies he works with are Eastern European and they seem to like to be complemented on their appearance perfume etc.
    Hes just decided this himself
He says he doesn’t want any bother.
All the guys were talking last night (night shift) and they’re all on the same page.

Ah Mark's hopeless. Just eye candy for people who films for that reason. Saying that he is in some decent films like the Departed.

I don't care who your husband compliments or not but this Eastern European thing drives me mad. What seems to be understood as Eastern Europe are countries with very different culture, history, religion, language, writing, social and political attitudes... And 'Eastern European' women certainly don't have all the same attitudes to compliments. They would probably much prefer not to be lumped in some imaginary ethnic group than complemented on their perfume.

As far as I know Mark Wahlberg grew up in relatively rough area. He could still be a complete scum or he could be actually one of those people who inspire others with how they changed. I haven't got a clue and neither I care but I certainly wouldn't judge people just by what they've done in their youth.

You say that bit he still hasn't apologised for his acting.
