If it's anything like my Pixel (original, not 2) the back is as slippery as an eel, so it can slip out of your hand or off a slightly sloping surface as easy as anything. I have a Spigen clear case on mine and it's a lot better in that regard.

right, this 2XL screen. There are always bad batches. Heck I replaced two nexus 6p's because of screen issues, along with 2 s7's because of greenish and grainyness. Its just OLED in general. Yes, reviewers hate the screens because 'its dull', has the 'blue tint curve' and one or two say 'grainy'. So.

Firstly, its only dull because they compare to the Note 8, S8 blah which are super saturated, hence the Super AMOLED. Google calibrated to SRGB, which is duller but is more realistic. They are now saying they are thinking of adding more colour modes though, which is a good thing and an easy fix is just giving back the srgb switch.

The blue tint curve is most likely for a few reasons. LG tech isn't as advanced as Samsung most likely. It could be because of the way google polarised the display so it would work better with Sunglasses (which would be a plus). Either way the majority of screens, especially OLED, get colour tints when rotated. This is worse, I agree, but given I usually dont look at my phone tilted or sideways on my desk it shouldn't really affect me or most people I am hoping.

As for the grainyness, thats 3 reviewers out of most that I have seen so far. Top android site reviewers such as David Ruddock from Android Police is saying the screen is good, not samsung but not as bad as people are saying. Kellen from droidlife saying the same. It is just being blown up by people who don't even own the phone. Its just a bad screen issue, and happens with every OLED batch. Remember the S8 had the red screen issue? OLED is just so unpredicatable, sadly.

Im not defending the phone, its not the best panel. But it is no where near as bad as people are making it out to be. Go onto reddit and the likes, and the *majority* or people receiving their 2 XL are loving the screen and the issues aren't really affecting them. The vast majority of complaints are from people who cancelled their orders and from people who don't own the device because a few reviewers got the very first batch.

Google has a great customer support. If you have issues, contact them and they will fix it. I believe this is just like the OP5 all over again with the 'Jelly' screen (yes I have a op5 and don't see it, or rarely do). It's really not as bad as people are making it out to be.

What I recommend is getting your phone, using it from a few days and if you decide you can't live with it, either ask for a full refund within the 14 days of receiving the device, or else as for a replacement phone and they will most likely be happy to provide you with one!

I think so. Have you had a look at the camera samples so far? Amazing! Plus 3 years of Android updates where as everybody else gives 2? Definitely worth it in my books.

This was unfair, imo. It's because of all the attention it's getting. She always replaces her phones multiple times, as she did with her s8 etc to get the correct screen so it isn't 'half and half'. Again not saying it's not an issue but wasn't fair considering she never did this type of video for other phones which did the same. I think it's proving my point of this entire thing being blown wayyyy out if proportion.

If you don't want to see an app in the app drawer just disable it in settings.

Verizon sell them in store but the bootloader is locked and can't be unlocked from the quick research I've done, which is frustrating as I've always unlocked and rooted my phones so not sure if it's worth the saving or not.

Hopefully I'll pass a shop at some point and get a chance to see one in the flesh at least.

Edit: Looks like the 128gb is in stock which is $100 extra, but still about €80 cheaper than the 64 from the UK. Would be perfectly happy with the 64 but might have to pull the trigger on this. Be totally screwed it it get delivered after I leave the US though!

Edit Edit: It's now added tax so kills most of the savings.. not worth the risk with delivery etc! I'll have to wit till Christmas I think.
