Tacky pair but they weren't to know it would have this kind of reaction and its a massive overreaction to ban all foreign weddings because of the actions of one pair of thicks.

I've been to Rhodes, and visited another monastery there. Going in, there was a monk handing out wrap skirts and tops made from what appeared to be old curtains to anyone in vest tops or shorts to cover up in the monastery. So the wedding party would have been aware that the church had a stipulation that they need to be modestly dressed. It's not a great stretch of the intellect to extrapolate from that that dropping your jocks in front of your families and stimulating a BJ might be offensive to the locals. They wouldn't do it on the steps of St.Pauls in their own home country, and you can imagine the Joe Show going nuts if they did it at Knock.

It sounds to me like it was the last straw for the clergy there. Maybe almost every Brit wedding there was a battle to get guests to cover up and behave with a bit of decorum in their church and they've just had enough of the couples who have no religion but just want the nice location of it. It's a bit of an over-reaction but maybe they could roll back the ban if folk submitted a character reference from their own priest at home or something.

The Brits really know how to piss of the locals abroad... what a classless pair of idiots, of course their just as classless chavy mates and family were probably egging them on.

Surely it would make more sense to implement a process of approval that would filter out idiots like this rather than punish people who have genuine interest and respect for going there to get married? Unless 100% of the people who go there to get married are like this?

What a bunch of gowls. Why would this even enter your head as something to do?
Also, it says similar photos are doing the rounds now too, has this become a thing?

Oh dear god, I really hope not!!

I was reading yesterday that apparently their guests caused chaos while they were there also - streaking through bars and restaurants (where families were eating) and just generally being disorderly. Sounds like the whole bunch of them were over there causing trouble.

Living up to the Brits Abroad stereotype big time then!

**** like this makes me give up on humanity . Cannot believe someone would think this is a good idea . Disgusting sewer rats .

I don't understand why they can't just arrest and charge these outliers with indecent exposure, public disorderly etc. And let other couple get married?

Why does this Greek Orthodox church allow all these random tourists get married in their church? Rather than restricting it to people who are actually of that religion.

No Catholic church would allow people to be married in their church unless at least one of the couple was in fact a Catholic.

I'd have thought the Bishop should insist on the couples being at least baptised/confirmed Christians, and having documentation from their home parish. This could help ensure that couples using their church, either local or visiting, should have at least some respect.

The current setup seems like a tourism generator for the Island, and seems strange to allow such a holy site be used for that purpose.

Of course, the behaviour of this couple goes beyond words . The bishop has every right to demand a major change.

They don't. Only Orthodox Greeks can get married in the church but couples can get a blessing done in the church grounds, and that's a popular option for foreign couples.

This couple already did the civil bit in the UK before flying out as far as I remember reading.

It's on the shores of a public beach so would have been in full view of holiday makers and their children. Interesting to try to explain that to your kids.

It looks from other photos that they have a child possibly.
    Classic example to set her...

I got married in Spain and recently one of the hotels near where we got married banned all foreign weddings. Apparently the behaviour of guests at weddings and staying at the hotel when attending a wedding was so out of line the hotel couldn't put up with it any more. It would have been mostly Irish and English weddings they had.
I think people lose the run of themselves at weddings away a bit more than they would here. Not justifying at all though! It's a disgrace.

I read this thread before I looked at the link.
I was expecting some humping simulation or booby grabbing but that...wow..a whole other level altogether...
Even for the most 'liberal' mind that screams tacky chav behaviour..

Ah, that explains it. So, really people are just using the place for the photo opportunity...which might be ok, if they just show respect. And, of course being in the grounds makes it more difficult to police.

This couple must be absolute thrash. What makes is equally unbelievable is that apparently most of their family/friends (apart from the grandfather)appeared to also think it funny...and of course all the people who passed it on via social media.

I am also completely blown away by this. It looks like a still from a crappy lads comedy where your man marries a stripper. It's sooooo classless. I can't fathom taking a picture like that in public, sharing it or being pleased it went viral!:eek::eek:

Also the lads don't exactly look well dressed for being in the wedding party. The shorts and flip flops combo just look weird beside the full wedding dress.

This unfortunately is not the first time I've come across this type of story so prepare for the new wedding trend. Eewwww
Imagine, your mother in law suggesting it.

    Absolutely despicable scumbag behavior.

I give that “marriage” 2 years at most. Complete and utter disrespect to the locals and their church. Does the already shoddy image of the English abroad absolutely no favours.

The irony of this? I give this stupid, ignorant pair two years.

    Really, that long?

Harmless fun between two people that went viral.

I read that local businesses as well as couples booked to marry there are looking to sue the Lunns if the ban is upheld.

I really hope that happens. They won't be able to pay, but might make the Lunns understand what it's like to ruin someone's business or wedding. It would also serve as a warning to anyone else seeking to pull a similar stunt.

Apparently she has gone into hiding so it’s probably splitsville already.
These kind of people don’t expect the marriage to last anyway.
The wedding was just an excuse for a 4 day party abroad.
It’s not as if any of them actually take”till death us do part” seriously.
