    Classy pair!

The poor couples that have booked their wedding there and now it's all up in the air because of these two gobshítes. I see in the Mail article it says the mayor of the island is due to make a final decision on the ban in 10 days so fingers crossed he can do something for those who have already organised their weddings.

Why would staging this even enter your head? Stay classy

  • Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 25,948 Mod ✭✭✭✭Neyite

The mayor might permit those who have already booked or paid to go ahead but probably they wont' take new bookings.

    It's stunningly beautiful there.

Shocked, but not surprised the lovely couple are British. I really do feel ashamed to be a Brit at times.

Nobody seems to have any boundaries any more. This photo was planned and taken to show off their 'cheeky sense of humour' Really? Why on earth would you show how graceless, disrespectful and classless you actually are? I was going to say their parents must be really proud of them, but suspect they would for entirely the wrong reasons.

Oh - and the couple are apparently 'delighted' the picture has gone viral? Says it all really...

I feel so sorry for the people of Rhodes having to put up with the trash visiting them, and the decent people who just wanted a lovely wedding in a beautiful setting who now have their days cancelled because of this crassly, selfish publicity-seeking pair.

The irony of this? I give this stupid, ignorant pair two years.

Given the parents, I seriously doubt it.

    Who took the pic?

Apparently, one of the groom's relatives did.

Just returned from holidays there - they did 5 weddings a day in that Church. That's a lot of cancellations.

I am now firmly of the belief that the internet should be switched off. There, I've said it.

It's the Bishop's call. If he doesn't change his mind, there's nothing the mayor can do.

I'm all for a laugh but why?

If one if my friends or relatives did this I'd actually be mortified.

Terrible for the people who have booked their weddings there already

Ah god. I hope they let the people who've already booked go ahead with their ceremonies. I'd completely understand them not taking any further bookings though.

When I read the OP, and before I clicked the link, I imagined something artistic or a bit innovative.

Nope. It's a still image from 'Banging Birmingham Brides on Tour 5'.

Sure once they had their fun, that's all that matters right?

Never mind the other foreign couples who possibly can't use the venue now, or the bride's "disgusted" Grandad. They are other people. Once the bride and groom had their fun that's all that matters, sure it was their big day.

Obviously I'm being sarcastic and this is the act of complete dickheads.

A picture of you on your knees sucking cock, in your wedding dress on your wedding day.

A picture of you with your trousers around your ankles and your wife giving a blowjob, on your wedding day.

The world really is full of gutter trash.

He's a tow truck driver and she works in a shop.

Dunno if they'd be the type of businesses to care unless their customers massively object.

That's definitely a photo for the mantlepiece. I can imagine both sets of parents looking lovingly at such a beautiful photo...'there's my beloved daughter, on her knees'.

Tacky pair but they weren't to know it would have this kind of reaction and its a massive overreaction to ban all foreign weddings because of the actions of one pair of thicks.

Can't link to it but Aussie photographer James Day shot the wedding snaps for Adrian and Roslyn. One pic in particular is 'going viral' but for different reasons to this couple.
Google it and read the story. The ladies will like it.

His skanky tattoos are visible in the photo, they will probably be separated before they pay the wedding bills.

Christ ...I missed that opportunity at my own wedding ! ..honestly though what were they thinking. Your wedding is the best day ever what would possess a couple to so this

Ah lads... from the photos it looks like they have a child too, were they present for this charming photo?

What utter disrespect for each other as well.

Can’t believe this is a thing Neyite, just went googling , yup. They are trying to outdo eachother. A bj though. I mean, hardly unbridled sexiness is it.

Lol... add it to the “best thing you saw at a wedding” thread?

I've been to Rhodes, and visited another monastery there. Going in, there was a monk handing out wrap skirts and tops made from what appeared to be old curtains to anyone in vest tops or shorts to cover up in the monastery. So the wedding party would have been aware that the church had a stipulation that they need to be modestly dressed. It's not a great stretch of the intellect to extrapolate from that that dropping your jocks in front of your families and stimulating a BJ might be offensive to the locals. They wouldn't do it on the steps of St.Pauls in their own home country, and you can imagine the Joe Show going nuts if they did it at Knock.

It sounds to me like it was the last straw for the clergy there. Maybe almost every Brit wedding there was a battle to get guests to cover up and behave with a bit of decorum in their church and they've just had enough of the couples who have no religion but just want the nice location of it. It's a bit of an over-reaction but maybe they could roll back the ban if folk submitted a character reference from their own priest at home or something.

The Brits really know how to piss of the locals abroad... what a classless pair of idiots, of course their just as classless chavy mates and family were probably egging them on.

Surely it would make more sense to implement a process of approval that would filter out idiots like this rather than punish people who have genuine interest and respect for going there to get married? Unless 100% of the people who go there to get married are like this?

What a bunch of gowls. Why would this even enter your head as something to do?
Also, it says similar photos are doing the rounds now too, has this become a thing?

Oh dear god, I really hope not!!

I was reading yesterday that apparently their guests caused chaos while they were there also - streaking through bars and restaurants (where families were eating) and just generally being disorderly. Sounds like the whole bunch of them were over there causing trouble.

I don't understand why they can't just arrest and charge these outliers with indecent exposure, public disorderly etc. And let other couple get married?

Why does this Greek Orthodox church allow all these random tourists get married in their church? Rather than restricting it to people who are actually of that religion.

No Catholic church would allow people to be married in their church unless at least one of the couple was in fact a Catholic.

I'd have thought the Bishop should insist on the couples being at least baptised/confirmed Christians, and having documentation from their home parish. This could help ensure that couples using their church, either local or visiting, should have at least some respect.

The current setup seems like a tourism generator for the Island, and seems strange to allow such a holy site be used for that purpose.

Of course, the behaviour of this couple goes beyond words . The bishop has every right to demand a major change.

  • Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 25,948 Mod ✭✭✭✭Neyite

They don't. Only Orthodox Greeks can get married in the church but couples can get a blessing done in the church grounds, and that's a popular option for foreign couples.

This couple already did the civil bit in the UK before flying out as far as I remember reading.

It's on the shores of a public beach so would have been in full view of holiday makers and their children. Interesting to try to explain that to your kids.

It looks from other photos that they have a child possibly.
    Classic example to set her...

I got married in Spain and recently one of the hotels near where we got married banned all foreign weddings. Apparently the behaviour of guests at weddings and staying at the hotel when attending a wedding was so out of line the hotel couldn't put up with it any more. It would have been mostly Irish and English weddings they had.
I think people lose the run of themselves at weddings away a bit more than they would here. Not justifying at all though! It's a disgrace.

I read this thread before I looked at the link.
I was expecting some humping simulation or booby grabbing but that...wow..a whole other level altogether...
Even for the most 'liberal' mind that screams tacky chav behaviour..

Ah, that explains it. So, really people are just using the place for the photo opportunity...which might be ok, if they just show respect. And, of course being in the grounds makes it more difficult to police.

This couple must be absolute thrash. What makes is equally unbelievable is that apparently most of their family/friends (apart from the grandfather)appeared to also think it funny...and of course all the people who passed it on via social media.

I am also completely blown away by this. It looks like a still from a crappy lads comedy where your man marries a stripper. It's sooooo classless. I can't fathom taking a picture like that in public, sharing it or being pleased it went viral!:eek::eek:

  • Administrators, Business & Finance Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 16,957 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Toots

Also the lads don't exactly look well dressed for being in the wedding party. The shorts and flip flops combo just look weird beside the full wedding dress.
