"I will do anything for my family". Emmet is a completely brainwashed person these days. The cult have Hannah back where they want her. That scene where they rose up against Doug was really creepy, Manson would be so proud!

Makes me wonder what they will have to do next to prove their loyalty to Manson. Very interesting story.

Emmett seems to be the biggest fruitloop in the group - which actually makes sense, as he has always been a bit of a strange individual and a loner.

It's doesn't make any sense it's completely utterly stupid to change his character in the space of a month

There was definitely a church at one point : I remember Dolores having an affair with a priest and meeting him there. It's true though that their coverage of religion is very patchy and unsatisfactory, we very rarely see anything happening in a church, even compared to the British soaps strangely.

    Dolores and Fr. Thaddeus!

In the early days of the soap you'd have the odd mention of Mass on a Sunday. I feel they totally write religion out, which regardless of anyone's personal views is inaccurate. You should have the some of Charlie, Bella, Cass, Ama, Bob, Rennee, Dolores, maybe even Decco (the gran was very religious Sacred Heart etc in her house), and a couple of the middle aged people mentioning/going to church on the Sunday episode. Just be more realistic than them all working away doing business in the pub each Sunday. Like Spillane and Decco, Louis, Niamh and Paul etc. That's bs. If they even had them watching a Premier League game in the pub or gaa at county season it would be more realistic.

Yes I thought the same. Its actually very clever to introduce a "cult" type group in these times because even 20 or 30 yrs ago, it would have been strictly religious and no doubt about serving Jesus or something along those lines. Nowadays with counselling, CBT, mindfulness, New Age etc it was only a matter of time before people wanted to use it as a cover for crime/brainwashing etc.

Its certainly a much needed injection of new characters and fresh storylines that FC has been crying out for.

Since when as Dolores a say in the helping hand. Remember when Sean and Laura were both hoping to get managers job and it was Charlie they were dealing with... ?

I was wondering if Dolores had any thoughts about poor Lorraine today. She died in an American hurricane on her honeymoon circa 2000.

The often mentioned and sometimes seen Father Bertie must be based in a nearby church anyway - he had a random interaction with Decco and Kerri-Ann recently bemoaning their lack of attendance.

Also,, I thought Carol used the smart office so why does she need to use the station office. She runs a taxi firm with a mobile phone and a bic biro , what paper work needed to be done that she couldnt do at her kitchen table? Its a silly story line that is being used as a vehicle to highlight her alcoholism.......

I need to stop watching this rubbish.. its so frustrating

I'm not desperately religious but I do live in a suburb of north west Dublin which has a community centre and a charity shop, a laundrette, a couple of restaurants, coffee shops and a spar. But we also have a church (and a Mormon church and a mosque planned)...so where are these things in carraigstown?

They can't even afford decent wallpaper nevermind a mosque.

is Cardle going to join AA (not the car group) or the now defunct PW whatever that is called now - (Emmets Way is it called?) :)

Emmet certainly has changed from his wayward, loose self, and exudes an aura of Zen and calm.
How Miriam really has brainwashed him to the point where he is now in authority and control- to the point of being overly in control of his reactions. Quite robotic. Very cleverly done, FC.
A great actor, imho, and scrubs up well, too. Miss the jackets.
    Well done, Daithi!

I'm calling it THE C.U.L.T. - Carrigstown United Losers Federation.
(or Nutters Federation but that's a completely different word :D)

I think that's the point- you love to hate him! Manson will be back soon and no doubt what Katy thinks of the PW will determine a lot for this storyline. I think its great, its almost worth putting up with Carols over acting and Damien and Coaimhe saying the same lines for the last 2 years just for some cult action.

Can’t stand the grin or the speed at which they introduced the cult. I thought they were playing the long game introducing Miriam so long ago but now the people have gone from 0 to brainwashed In a couple of weeks. Makes me think now they introduced her as a love interest for Eoghan and then decided to do this afterwards.

Also, the doctor was the head of the Dublin branch. They said earlier that this was the first Phoenix Way centre in Ireland but they have a head of the branch that wasn’t seen until Hannah was “sick”.

Finally why would the head office of a holistic centre be in Warsaw? Are the Polish into holistic centres in any way shape or form?

it does feel to me too that these people have been brainwashed so quickly . wish they would have panned it out a bit longer to make it more convince-able - one minute emmet is nicking cash out of the office - next week he is grinning, talking a lot of bollox and is a changed man! what the hell !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 143 ✭✭Beechfiled

Kerri-Ann looks like she needs a good wash. Her make up and hair are manky and what's with her little girls summer clothes.

Yeah that transition was a bit quick alright. Only Fair City can manage to drag out story lines while showing so little character development.

PW was founded in Warsaw hence the head office. To be fair Manson was introduced to Eoghan as a smokescreen to get to know the family and who is or isn't vulnerable, it was the long game. shes in it almost a year now so its paced just right in my view. I cant believe I'm defending it but I think Emmets transformation is realistic. Remember he took weeks just to come back for another session so the transformation is just right.

Caddle wins tonight's prize for ridiculous overacting.
Ursula wins no prizes for her counselling skills. She should be struck off immediately for unprofessional behaviour.
