It was very tame here on the outskirts of Galway City. It made the constant wall to wall coverage feel a bit surreal, but, before someone jumps down my throat, I know we got off lightly compared to elsewhere.

thought you guys were getting lashed out of it in the west? It didnt even rain in dublin 15. we must of been very lucky. although I have family in kildare and they said the same.

And yet despite the absolute nationwide destruction there is w@nkers still swimming in the sea in Galway  Lives put at risk going out in rescue helicopters to help the selfish cúnts. Rescue them and jail the fúcking morons. Their stupidity and recklessness needs to be punished.

    Why waste petrol saving them?

RIP to those poor people. My heart sunk when I heard about the second death, I was hoping that news of the first would be enough to deter people.

    What?
Are you suggesting that the second and third casualties should have known better?

I'm in Dublin 15 and we were seriously buffeted earlier this afternoon.

Not where I am(Terenure neck of the woods). The odd blustery gust, but nothing even close to storm levels. Actually it's been much like that all day, with maybe an hour of heavy enough gusts around 2-3. The only inconvenience so far was the power was out for an hour. I feel for those in other parts of the country that are getting much more badly hit.

Parts of Dublin have been far more than blustery! Bluster doesn't knock trees and scaffold. We were in storm conditions in the early afternoon where I am.

Exactly. its absolutely shocking but sadly in this idiotic world we live in the coastal rescue would face questions if they left people die and you'd have fellow morons out on the street campaigning for the dead. Idiocy ignored.

Messing around on Google, you get a line of twitters on the screen

Low and behold, Panti Bliss enlightens us with the promotion of her /his bar being open today's amd invites all for a pint. Sounds lovely. Also makes a normally funny joke about being able to "scream 'we are all going to die" with the gays"

Problem is, that was published well after it was announced that a girl in Waterford had died

Of course, if anyone else in the celeb scene uttered that , despite clearly not having any intention to offend, and I have no doubt there was no intention, and she /he probably was oblivious to it, they would get hammered. But no, this will be ignored

Very poor taste. So Sue Me having a sale on her products today. Her Insta story snap says "Hurricane Ophelia have you stuck inside?
30% OFF today to help ride out the storm", followed by a discount code. Is this not in terrible taste?

No. She's just referencing the fact that people were stuck inside and trying to sell her gear off the back of it.

It got a bit windy at one stage here in West Mayo. The RTE correspondent was based in Mulranny and he's been trying to get it over here all day.

At 15 years of age I would have walked fro Galway to Dublin to see an artist I liked. No hurricane would have stood in my way, but my Mum probably would have!

Would you all advise against going for a run? I'm in Dublin and have cabin fever from being stuck inside all day.
Wind doesn't seem bad at the mo but not sure if the worst has passed?

Auctioneer's 'For Sale' sign just blew into my garden. Already there's 20 queuing and I'm reliably informed 3 are cash buyers. #Ophelia

Irish Mammies are a unique form of Hurricane in their own right. Irish mammies can easily go from a Cat1 storm to Cat5 hurricane in the blink of an eye.

Just put on a motorbike helmet you'll be fine.

You'll look like a dick but then again you more than likely are if you're going for a run in those conditions.
