Getting pretty gusty in North Dublin city. Planes still taking off it seems, wouldn't fancy being on one myself.

Can I light a fire or is it dangerous?
Why would it be dangerous? Light away.

I'd say you can expect a much stronger updraft through the chimney during storm. But I wouldn't expect any problems.

Why would it be dangerous? Light away.

So long as there is no boiler behind the fire, it'll be ok from a safety point of view. However, when the worst of the wind gusts arrive in your are, you'll be getting the wind sucking the fire out and up the chimney and down drafts from wind gusts will probably push smoke and possible sparks back into the room. so make sure you've the fire guard on!

Wind is blowing down the chimney fairly heavily! Wasn't sure. Thanks!

If the wind is blowing down the chimney then don't...you don't want embers flying through the room setting stuff alight.

Friend of mine is a chimney sweep, he's currently on a roof in Sandyford. Hard as nails (and a maniac)

That's not hard as nails, he is just a idiot

    Citibank Dublin :D

Apparently told staff to stay in until at least 5pm to get the storm passed (and not be hindered by the somehow expected flooding of their building).

I recall the video of the Dundrum town centre flooding in 2012 (?) showing one or two layers of sandbags about 300mm high at the doors, and the water pouring in at about 1200m.
