Sorry mate missed this. I seen them on a 3008 GT. These are the same as what you'd get if ordering for GT-Line or you bought a GT 5008.

Is that the Diamond ones with the criss cross :)

Hope they're better in the flesh

The Gt-Line doesn't get full leather, it's the half-and-half things. Like these:

That would be perfect if they were full leather, the full leather version just looks so "GAH" imo.

Hopefully up close they will be nicer.

Driven both a few of the small SUVs. Defo it's between this and the Ateca. Qashqai and Sportage are also fans now. ! Ateca is firmer but handles better. 3008 is more futuristic inside but Ateca looks better outside ! Oh god

What do you see more often? Outside or inside?

Yes indeed the diamond ones, and personally I thought they looked great in the flesh.
But the half leather seats look much better too than the photos suggest.

Took the 5008 allure 1.6 TDI for a drive. Felt smooth .

Bit dissapointed that I was told the GT-LINE is not available in 1.2 auto. Apparently they just can't produce enough of them at the moment.

Happy woth the car and the missus seems happier than the active she seen.

Sorry to come back at you with this AstraMonti. I test drove 3 cars at the weekend, 3008 GT Line, and two 5008 models, 1.6 auto Allure and 1.2 auto Active. No NAV in any car, you hit the button and it says to connect your phone. I then asked, and was told there is NAV, eh but you have to use your phone, but no built in NAV, GT only!

There is and they have ordered for a customer a 1.2 Auto option in GT-Line, they are 100% adamant about this, no embargo, like there was for the 3008. Bit more of a lead time though.

Was just told there was 110% an embargo on GT-Line 1.2 auto and that he had a deposit that he couldn't take from the customer.

So just back from the dealer. The guy I was talking with originally got the boot and they couldn't honour what he said (nav and adaptive cruise control included in gtline spec). Not only that, but there is the extra surcharge of 850 for the car even since the car is already in the system.
So sat nav is almost 1200 extra, 390 for the adaptive cruise control. Also there are not taking any orders for 1.2. I feel like I am getting screwed and I am seriously considering getting the order cancelled and the deposit back. In fairness they did offer me sone discount after this mess but I don't know, I 'll take the weekend to rethink the whole thing. It's a ****load of money not to be 100% happy.

On the other hand there is nothing else out there I really like.

Have you test driven other small SUVs?

This is the 5008, I wouldn't consider it small:) I 've seen the Skoda, the x-trail, the sorrento and the outlander. There aren't many 7seaters suvs anyway.

    1.6 petrol automatic.

I 've seen all of those but too small for my needs.

Out of interest why not the 1.6 diesel.. did you drive both 1 6 variants

I did yes, the petrol was on a 3008. The diesel was ok, but felt a bit laggy to respond even with sports mode on. It would be fine either way to be honest. The petrol was way more fun to drive, responsive and super quiet but with the foot down the consumption will surely rocket up.

For my driving needs and the type of distances I do now daily, the petrol makes a bit more sense. I was also worried (probably for no reason) with all these talks about diesel bans, and as it is a car that i will be keeping for the next decade at least, I didn't want to risk it.

No worry of the 1.6 not transferring across as well to the bigger 5008?

Very uncertain about the petrol/Diesel engine. I do about 12,000KM a year. But that COULD go up to 20,000 next year for work related reasons.

I wouldn't worry about any of the engines to be honest. If I could get a 1.2 in gtline i would go for it. I am sure the 1.6 petrol is going to be more than enough for my needs, 165hp is a lot more than I need. I doubt you will be unhappy with any of your choices.

Myself I am still contemplaining about the extra cost, it is a lot of money for a car. And I am already a couple of thousand over budget.

Seemingly the Puretech engine was the pick of the bunch for the 3008. It's a godsend for us low millage folk too.

The car itself is actually very well speced at all levels. I went with an active plus a couple of options myself. The shiny bits are nice, just not worth the extra outlay on a budget.

I'm of the opinion that going down models is easier on the 3008 because externally its a case of spot the difference. The 5008, the Allure and lower models have a completely different front-end to the GT-Line, much more so than the minimal differences on the 3008. I'm not mad about it on the 5008, and whilst you do indeed spend a lot more time inside the car, I think when spending circa 30 to 40k you are entitled to 'love' the inside and out, albeit you might have to make some minor sacrifices on certain elements.

Absolutely, if you're willing to spend it, go for it! Myself personally, I came more for the seating config over appearance, but the fact that it doesn't look like a nun and doesn't have to be a diesel are incredibly welcome bonuses. The real star of the show is that driver cabin - miles ahead of anything in its class.

Quite an interesting article on the new 5008 from Carbuyer in the UK.
They also mention a new 130 BHP 1.5 Diesel being released later in the year and next year a new 8 speed gearbox on the 2.0 Diesel.

They also put up a Youtube video review with some interesting remarks about the 1.2 130 BHP Petrol.

Is there any point for Ireland to pay the 100 euro extra for the DAB tuner instead of the FM?

I have it in mine, very often it automatically switches from FM to DAB. Cannot hear the difference though.

It wouldn't concern me that there's a new Diesel on the way. The 1.6 is a good unit. I think the 1.5 is a revision of the 1.6. More interestingly there is a Hybrid of sorts with 300bhp coming to the 3008 in 2018 apparently, will this cross over to the 5008, I would imagine it will eventually.
The review is flawed, contradicting and bordering on dumb (not that he gives it a bad review). Like a lot of reviews.

Good review. They mention the Kodiaq, but that doesn't work as well if you have three children plus a lot of luggage. The 5008 is supurb in that respect.

Exactly. Thing is no matter what anyone says, you will get three child seats into most if not all cars that have 3 individual seats, so why mention you'll just about get 3 child seats in and fail to mention it in any other car, particularly 7 seaters with a 60-40 split, eh like the Kodiaq
The other thing mentioned is that if fully laden maybe bypass the Petrol 130bhp and go for the 1.6 Diesel, that has 120bhp

I tell you where he is spot on though, I recently was with someone who is 6'2" and his head is hitting the roof in the 3008 GT. That's when sitting in the Driving seat with electric seat at its lowest (which apparently doesn't go as low as the manually adjusted one)!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 50 ✭✭Pinapples

Families larger than four are pretty unusual in Europe, hence most of them are still using the bench layout on the second row. It's a huge oversight by most marques.

Fully laden I think the 1.2 will have to work hard, and that's hardly a shock. We have 3 kids under 4, and we'll only be making long journeys with a full boot about 6 - 10 times a year. I think the 1.2 petrol is still the right choice for us, as our millage in general is far too low to justify a diesel engine. I currently drive a very underpowered Focus 1.4 saloon anyway, so i probably won't be disappointed.

You are in for a pleasant surprise if you haven't test drove yet :p The 1.2 that is!

My car is going in production in December, so hopefully mid January will be here. Still 4months away :pac:

Edit: Also a very interesting video:
