Haven't listened to any of their older stuff but really like this album.

Science Fiction has exceeded my expectations. It's definitely going to be a contender for album of the year. It's more mellow and downbeat than their older stuff but every bit just as good.

Absolutely, I only really like a few tunes from Devil.. and then a couple off the earlier songs. To be honest I never really 'got them' it just didn't click with me despite liking similar bands from the genre but this is blowing me away.
Out of Mana and Same logic/Teeth are perfect, along with 451.

Agreed about the Brand New album, and this is a superb opener..

Well, the War on Drugs album certainly delivers on expectations. Stunning record with amazing sound scapes, plenty of hooks and originality - despite wearing its influences clearly on its sleeve.

'A Fever Dream' by Everything Everything. A different yet uniquely EE, another great record.

One of the best tracks of the year imo.

Sleep Well Beast isn't really doing much for me. It's not a bad album but it's too much more of the same thing.

The reviews are great but I am delighted to read this - find it very underwhelming bar a couple of tracks and not very memorable - nothing special that gives you goosebumps like alligator, boxer etc. imo. But I seem to be in the minority! :o

I was a lot more excited when High Violet and Trouble Will Find Me came out. But this one just seems to plod along a bit too much.

I felt the same about sleep well beast but I'm coming around to it. It's a very very slow burner. It's taken me about 7 or 8 listens but I'm starting to really like it.

Christ, I would have imagined that with The National, above all bands, people would give the album sufficient time to breathe. I've found that even a week isn't enough.

New alvvays and zola jesus were also released.

Liking the alvvays, had the pleasure of seeing most the album live on Friday.

Looking forward to listening to the new zola jesus as I hear it's a return to form.

Jesus but the War on Drugs album is fantastic - gets better and better with every listen. Phenomenal production and great songs which are unconventional yet familiar.

Plus this has to be one of the best album reviews I've ever read.....long but well worth the read imo.

Science Fiction album by Brand new is excellent. Wasn't a fan of their last one and only liked 50% of Devil and God.... this sits nicely with me. Love the album cover, but I'm hopeing that isn't an actual photo :D

Just saw previous posts mentioned new Mogwai , must check it out. Loved Rave Tapes and the stuff they did for the returned.

I like it, but it sounds the same as the last one, and the previous one. Still good though.

New Balmorhea is worth a listen, if a bit experimental. Same with the new Lee Ranaldo album.
Also, Noel Hogan of Cranberries fame, has released a new Mono Band EP.

New Vessels and For Tet today. Four Tets best release since TILIY in my opinion.
