This site states that the note 4x will work on irish 3g and 4g networks. The 4g 64 g phone looks really good. Has anyone purchased one?
really hoping to finally pull the trigger on this one.

    https://www.topresellerstore.com/en/smartphone-android/1390-xiaomi-redmi-note-4x-4-gb-ram-64-gb-rom.html

Found it shipping from italy on the above site at 175 euro

It will work on Band 3 - 1800MHz, which is the one that they are referring to on that site.

Band 20 - 800MHz would cover more rural areas, whereas Band 3 - 1800MHz would be more available in cities like Dublin, Cork, Galway. Although Band 20 would be the more predominant one.
    You can check coverage here
    https://www.cellmapper.net/map?MCC=272&MNC=1
    older version here
    http://www.worldtimezone.com/4g.html

Also, your provider should have a coverage map on their site that may show by band.

Switched to Lineage OS 14.1 (7.1.2) on my Redmi note 3 on the 16th!

Much better performance and improved battery life, over xiaomi.eu (MM). Latest security + blueborne patches. Native support for trusted devices (instead of needing xposed to enable it on MIUI).

Only bug is saving downloads to sdcard, files get reported as zero file size and not accessible.

Solution: - Rename the files or unmount/remount sdcard for them to work again.

any links showing how to the change over, (for a noob)

    redmi 4x

    thanks !

From what I've read on here you should stay clear of the mediatek processor and go with snapdragon

There is not an official version of Lineasge OS for that device yet.

Unofficial available here! <-- Can't switch to official later without wiping the device.

    Guides: -

Xiaomi Reddit wiki <-- for unlocking bootloader etc.

$225 inc shipping. No mention of any import tax.

Honorbuy ship very fast and there's no vat if you order from the EU stock. They are rarely the cheapest though. I've not used the other link you've posted. Have you checked on eGlobalCentral.eu ?

I used geekbuying - check my previous posts for the link, I don't have it to hand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 793 ✭✭✭ImARebel

I thought you used TomTop as Geekbuying didn't have the handset?

i bought the Maze Alpha off TomTop and I bought the Note 4 off geekbuying

I'm sitting here like a dipsh*t pressing F5 on the tomtop order page, willing to see dispatched against the phone... I'm such an eejit, lol. And what's killing me is the cover is already dispatched on the slow boat and the phone with expedited delivery hasn't budged...

    Read back a few pages/search!

The version linked Redmi Note 4X doesn't have band 20 needed for LTE here.

What you should be looking for is the Redmi Note 4 Global Edition, same device with xtra bands.

Except for this one on adverts, which apparently does

Different device Redmi 4X which has the band 20!

Opposite rule to the note devices.

My wife's new Redmi Note 4 arrived today.

Is there any need to switch from the MIUI OS that's on it?

There isn't a need, some people don't like it though.

If she doesn't like it, install Google Now Launcher or Nova and see if that helps.

If she still doesn't like it, I'd look at a custom ROM.

Did they say when they will ship it? Honorbuy say they'll start shipping from October 2nd, but are a lot more expensive.

Thought it was something like that initially, and had double-checked, but must have even double-checked wrongly!! Am confusing myself again

Never buy on presell, no matter how tempting, better to wait until the phone is released and see how other people get on with it first, although maybe Xiaomi are one of the better ones to be taking a bit of a chance on.

Am trying to stop myself from buying the Umidigi S2 on presell.......

    http://www.umidigi.com/page-umidigi_s2_activity.html

If it was being supplied by someone other than GB, I probably would have bough already (even though I know I shouldn't buy on pre-sell).

Is it okay to purchase from these sellers using a Credit Card or should we only be using Paypal?

It is just as safe to use a card now, maybe even safer sometimes than Paypal.
For example, Paypal are useless when items need to be returned to China and they appear not to arrive.
