Just ordered a mi max 2 for the 2nsd time after my gearbest issues. Went with geekbuying, Italy stock, so hopefully I'll actually get it this time .

Geekbuying are okay, they are generally a little more expensive than the others (not always). I am convinced that there is an American funding and helping pricing there somewhere :) - More importantly, their customer support reply with questions that are relative to your problem(s) and they do actually try to fix any issues. (Which should be normal).

I did not see your Gearbest issues, hope all was sorted eventually. Gearbest are relatively new. roughly three years old, and in that time they have created a lot of problems I do not trust them at all. I think everyone is best avoiding them.

Just want to thank all the very knowledgeable posters on this thread for their help and advice. Not much good at the tech stuff meself but happy to recount my purchase experience, if it helps someone else out.

Bought the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 from https://www.honorbuy.com/ and am very happy with the phone. Phone cost €173 for the 4gb RAM 64GB ROM and was €30 to deliver so €203 in total. Ordered the phone on a Thursday and it arrived on the Tuesday, sent from their Italian warehouse via Germany. Even with an error in my address ( sorted out with a phone call to DHL after I saw the phone was on hold in "tracking" ) I still had the phone in 4 business days. Charger came with an EU plug but the adapter only costs me €3.50.

Glad I discovered this forum and definitely would never have known much about Chinese phones had I not found it. Group hug :pac:

    Hi all,

Just looking for some advice. Ive never bought a chinese phone before. I'm looking to change from my Samsung Note 4 and cant afford to pay 1000 euro for the Note 8. Ive been looking at the Redmi note 4 and the Redmi note 4x. Ideally I'm thinking the note 4x is preferential to the note 4 but is the note 4 4gb ram 64gb rom better than the 4x 3gb ram 32gb rom version?

is there anything else in the 200 euro price range I should be considering? Ive been reading as many recommendations and reviews as I can and that's whats led me to the Redmi as an option so any advice is appreciated.

Just found a previous discussion on this in this thread. Apolicies for the repetition. Just looking at the Mi A1 as well 🀔. My confusion continues to grow. Not sure which one to get although the 4x is out as I can't find one in stock with band 20.

The Mi A1 seems to be on back order so you"ll be waiting a while to get one I'd say. As far a I can tell the only difference is the dual camera on the A1 vs the Note 4. I ordered a Redmi note 4 4gb64gb (band20) from Honourbuy last wednesday evening and it arrived Friday morning. 195 delivered. Very happy with it!

Was trying to decide on a new phone to move on from my Ulefone Power due to a dead line on the top of the screen. Couldn't decide on something like Maze Alpha, Elephone S8 etc. I'd probably have tried a Redmi note expect I got tired of paging through different versions to find the one with band 20. In the end I took a slightly different approach and went for the cheaper end of the market. Ordered 2 phones though as I couldn't make up my mind. Ordered a Oukitel U16 from Tinydeal from Germany for 120 euro because I wanted to try out a 6" inch screen without investing too much. And just because it was on sale I picked up a Vernee Thor Plus from Gearbest for 108 euro. CI'murious to see if they will match up to the Ulefone Power or the Oukitel K6000 ( my previous favourite). The screen resolution is lower on both but the Verne's amoled is getting good reviews.

Anyone interested in a Ulefone Power with an dead line across the top of the screen?

    Hi nuff

Have had redmi note 3 pro prime 3gb 32gb for over a year and have been very impressed with it overall, quite a fast responsive phone. Missus has galaxy note 3 which is starting to play up in a few apps so have just bought her the redmi note 4x 4gb/64gb deca core processor from hongkong goldway on AliExpress, arriving tomorrow with dhl has taken 18 days €190 all in incl 2 extra cases and pu glass screen protector
My 4th phone in 4 years from goldway and i personally wouldnt go anywhere else.

Where is cheapest for the Xiaomi A1 these days? Going to give it a try, always loved build quality of Xiaomi phones but was never a lover of MIUI

Theres a few options on there but you could be liable to get hit with customs charges on some of them sellers.

It seems from most youtubers and online reviews that the Redmi Note 4 is the best value mid to budget range phone to be had. Would most people here be in agreement with that? I'm finally at the end of my tesco mobile contract and wouldn't have the cash to be splashing out on mainstream brand phones.

On its own its a great phone if you can handle MIUI. Its pretty easy to put something like Lineage OS on it and get stock android if you are so inclined.

I didn't, but I may have simply got lucky.
I got it from Tomtop who shipped expedited through NL.
They were supposed to have shipped the case along with but they put it on a literal slow boat from China, so I'll probably get it in time for the Galaxy S9.

Should I take the gamble, lol

Out of stock in italy, so fecking tempted - but I'd be sick to get caught for customs, I'd rather pay the extra now to guarantee I don't have another bill to pay (I'm poor and my current phone has given up the ghost need something fast)

Have you looked at the xiaomi mi a1? Comes with stock android as opposed to miui 8.

I'm btwn both the note 4 and the Mi A1 for this reason at this point. I've no experience of miui.

Thanks Wozza. Hadn't heard of this seller. That seems a good deal. Had ruled it out as couldn't find a band 20 in stock.

Back to u youtube to watch some more comparison videos to help decide :-/ !

MIUI is android, just under a very heavy skin.

Anyone run Lineage or other custom roms on a xiaomi?
    Any issues or bugs?

This site states that the note 4x will work on irish 3g and 4g networks. The 4g 64 g phone looks really good. Has anyone purchased one?
really hoping to finally pull the trigger on this one.

Switched to Lineage OS 14.1 (7.1.2) on my Redmi note 3 on the 16th!

Much better performance and improved battery life, over xiaomi.eu (MM). Latest security + blueborne patches. Native support for trusted devices (instead of needing xposed to enable it on MIUI).

Only bug is saving downloads to sdcard, files get reported as zero file size and not accessible.

Solution: - Rename the files or unmount/remount sdcard for them to work again.

    Read back a few pages/search!

The version linked Redmi Note 4X doesn't have band 20 needed for LTE here.

What you should be looking for is the Redmi Note 4 Global Edition, same device with xtra bands.
