I'd say the main issue is that to become a Garda you have to meet certain requirments, including citizenship, age and educational requirement as well has having to be vetted.

A lot of the "non-white" people coming to live here probably cannot meet them

So really it wont be until these people have children who grow up here before you see many joining the Garda

Ah that's BS in fairness.

There's no doubt the organisation needs reform but it's still only in the ha'penny place compared to the corruption that's gone on in other countries police forces.

I've never seen any black Gardai either. I did have one night where got to spend some "quality time" with Gardai due to my own misbehaviour. The Garda that arrested me was huge - height and width and every way and he was Polish. The Garda in the station asking all the questions when we got there was Bosnian but he spoke with a real Dublin accent and he was a big lad as well but he was sound. i also saw a Chineese Garda there but didn't have any dealings with him - not s big!
